I plan to give supprise anniversary holiday to my wife. Booking made earlier thru reservation at KL office for us to stay at Golden Sand so we went there for our holiday and this is not our first visit after so long instead. Upon arrival, after we check in I notice that my booking was mess up by the reservation in KL office. We booked Executive suite room with seaview and they promise that our room will be upgraded due to our anniversary day but unfortunately we only been informed that their executive suite was fully booked and they gave use normal suite with seaview instead that this is not what we booked earlier and this is not the room that expect. We went down to the lobby and make our an official complaint to the counter, the staff said she will call her top management to handle the complaint. We are very lucky because the complaint was handled professionally by Mr Ranjit Singh, GS Front Office manager. He listen to our complaint and thanks to him because i can see he really busy with check in and out process during that day but he still have a minutes to attend my room booking issue in our SPECIAL day. What i want to say here is maybe Mr Ranjit can feel our frustation on our arrival to celebrate our special day but no executive suite room was ready for us as per promised by their reservation team, but he really try his level best to fullfill our request for us to enjoy our special day without spoilt our mood and hope. Glad and we are very happy that Mr Ranjit the Front Office Manager managed to get an executive suite room with seaview but we have to move to Shangri-la Rasa Sayang instead. Here, I really appriciate his effort, professionalism and hospitility in providing the promise by the reservation team. His effort in assisting us, Kudos for that and i will not forget his effort to provide us with the room that we requested. Because of him we really have the best anniversary celebration so far. He really transform the complaint to COMPLIMENT from us, he deserve it. Mr Ranjit, for me your are the ambassador to bring GS to the next level of service and you are among of the valued asset to GS. To Mr General Manager kindly please convey my special thanks to Mr Ranjit Singh for his effort and i will remember all his effort for my special Anniversary day.

Lovely hotel with great rooms and lovely pool/ relaxing area. Always plenty of sunbeds available with no rush to secure one. Breakfast was very good with loads of choice. Nice bar area but TBH there are lovely places nearby to eat and drink. We would definitely stay again

A fantastic stay. Great customer service - all the staff super helpful and work very hard. A little bit further out from Georgetown but it is fairly cheap to use Grab. Highlight was the amazing massages from Raymond which you can get on the poolside - highly recommend!

Great value and family fun. Room and hotel is old, but well maintained and clean. Staff is among the best we have encountered - all were super friendly and kind. Pool, splash pad, water slides, and food is perfect for toddlers who love the water!

When we arrived the hotel was having issues with key cards meaning check in took a while. This also meant we couldn’t get our key card until the next morning so had to be let into our room by a member of staff. However, the staff were very lovely and apologetic about this. We came in the next day to find some biscuits and an apology in our room for any inconvenience which was very sweet of them. This hotel has all of the amenities. The room was large (a little old fashioned) but the bed was comfortable, toiletries and water were provided and replenished daily if necessary. The shower was also great and there was plenty of storage space in the room. There are various pools to choose from and plenty of sunbeds throughout the day. Breakfast was fine; we had to go to the ‘overflow’ restaurant most days but it was actually a lot more peaceful down there. There is a bus stop directly outside of the hotel which is very handy and it costs 2.70RM to get into Georgetown.

This hotel check in process is super long wait as per check in took 15-20 mins and was told the room will be ready by 3pm and someone will call once ready but past 3pm still no one call me so go to the reception was told that still not ready so spending lot of time just to wait for the room key is so terrible as I have been observing most guests got their room instantly so the mobile check in is a failure for this hotel as I also did the mobile check in and face to face check at 12+ also at counter. 3pm check in time and past 3pm still not getting the room key is unacceptable as I told the staff I cannot be waiting endlessly. So this check in episode clearly showing that the people here lack of communication among themselves and is such a letdown for the guests

A wonderful beach side hotel with excellent water facilities - an ideal sun holiday location for couples or families. The overall facilities are very good - room quality, TV (even has a few decent channels), pools and water sports, dining facilities (where the food is top quality) and pleasant, helpful staff. Outside, there are some small convenience stores, food counters and the interesting 'night market' - a sort of Asian food court at cheap prices. There is also a bus no 101 which goes to the nearby city of Georgetown - a place much loved by travel writers, it appears, but I wasn't impressed with it. There is also a bus 102 that goes to the airport, but it is infrequent and takes forever. Avoid

Fantastic location but dated decor in need of updating however biggest worry is that this hotel caters for Islamic majority. This should be made clear on the website. There are no bar facilities in the evening, in fact you could not purchase anything in the evening, even an ice cream. This also should be made clear when booking. We would not return.

Indeed a good place to relax. Great breakfast, friendly staff, well maintained landscape, good housekeeping, and good security personnel. Strongly recommended. Also good location to try out some local foods across the road. Even have free shuttle to the city. Great place and congratulations to the management for a well manage organisation. I also noted that the property is wheel chair friendly.

We stayed in this beautiful resort for two months and we will continue to come here in the future because of all the kindness, courtesy and attention we received at the Shangri la Golden Sands Hotel and Resorts. From the moment you step in and throughout the check-in process, you will be embraced with their Malaysian hospitality - smiles that can be found on every single staff member. Thanks to the General Manager, Mr Christ, for the wonderful attention we received every single day from all of your staff. You will never find a duty manager washing and ironing your pants till 3 am because it was damaged by the laundry service the hotel used - thank you very much Mrs Melanie. Rooms have old furnitures, it’s a 45 years old hotel, but they are cleaned daily morning and evening with the care you can find in your home. We were pampered every single morning for breakfast with freshed squeezed fruit juice by Mrs Angeline and Mrs Jalita. A special thanks also to Mr Harun who was thoughtful on checking every single detail of our meal with the chef Mrs Rose. It’s a family resort so you will find all activities and live music performances. If I have to find a negative remark I can’t find it even if I push myself. The massages were fantastic from the incredible foot therapists, Mrs Jessy and Mr Raymund. The resort manager Mr Jagen will check every single detail before leaving to go back home every day. Once again thanks for embracing us as a part of this big family called Shangri La.
