Renovated & rebuilt on the site of one of Montagu's first farms, Galenia has amazing 360' views of the Langeberg Mnts & Little Karoo. The 10 cottage verandas, pool/jacuzzi area & glass fronted dining veranda all have a full day of sun from where it is possible to watch both the winter sunrise and sunset. We much enjoyed the morning Estate walk & saw Cape leopard, duiker & bat eared fox footprints on the sandy paths. Galenia's 6 ostriches were also often visible. Whilst one could have had a relaxing & peaceful day by the pool, we chose to explore the attractions of Montagu, visit many of the beautiful vineyards in the Robertson Wine Valley & taste top wines & MCC. (Galenia only sources wines from this area for its Wine List & some were also available in the room's minibar.) Back at the Estate in the evening, one of the managers gave a most interesting informal & informative chat on Galenia's olives including the tasting of their internationally award winning olive oil (cold pressed on the Estate). All Galenia's staff were warm, welcoming & friendly & the 4-course evening meal & wines were fantastic. The room was extremely comfortable & the newly renovated showers (now enclosed) also had a view of the scenery through the louvred shutters! We highly recommend Galenia for at least 2 nights in order to enjoy everything that the Estate & Montagu/Robertson area have to offer! Thank you to 'Susie Freeman Travel' for organising a wonderful weekend & introducing us to Galenia Estate!

This is a marmite resort. We loved it but it's probably not for everyone. You can't walk to anywhere else to eat, for example, and the dinner option in the hotel is a fixed four course with a vegetarian option for 450 rand pp. But if you want a few days R and R in a tranquil place with stunning mountain views then you will probably love it. The rooms are delightful, everything is very luxurious and there are walking and biking trails on the estate for those who want to keep up an exercise routine or simply enjoy nature.

After a personal nice reception by the manager we were brought to our romantic half of a nice villa. Very tastefully decorated, built in traditional style in gorgious surroundings with a breath taking view on the plains and mountains. Withe exception of the birdsongs absolute silence. The restaurant with excellent diligently served food. We did a nice walk in the estate by ourselfs and the next morning a nice guided walk with lots of informations on the estate and the local flora. Because of the small and intimate nature of the hosting we came in contact with many nice people. We can recommend this wonderful place to anybody looking for a luxurious wonderful stay in the area.

Beautiful boutique small hotel (10 suites only) in the mountains of Montagu. Stunning gardens and surrounds, with the pool and spa overlooking the mountains. The four course dinner at the onsite restaurant was beyond superb. Better than most fine dining restaurants experienced in Sydney. All staff were extremely lovely and helpful. Caught glimpses of the resident ostriches too :)

Stayed here for a night on a journey through and truly appreciated this place. The setting is just amazing with breathtaking views - all not far from the Marloth Nature reserve. The Rooms are all newly built (after a fire in early 2018) and decorated with a lot of taste to design and functionality with really all neccessary amenities including a private fireplace. The main lodge is as cosy as all the other rooms, offers a lot of literature and a full bar. The management offers guided morning walks beyond farm-grounds and they produce their own olive oil which can be tasted, consumed and bought on-site. The restaurant faces stunning landscape-views and offers a different 4 course menu every day. Food is truly down to earth containing great first ingredients and a creative twist without trying too hard. Breakfast won't disappoint you either. Fully set breakfast table with a choice of juices/smoothies/yoghurt/muesli and egg-based warm dishes such as fabulous Eggs Benedikt. I wish we would have known about the quality of this place - we would have stayed longer.
