I cannot praise this place highly enough. This private reserve is situated in the Little Karoo and has a uniquely beautiful mountainous landscape, with wonderful geological formations, interesting plantlife, prehistoric rock art and extraordinary wildlife (including rare white lions.) We stayed at Tilney Manor which had lots of history to offer in its main buildings as well as beautiful accommodation....

This is a spectacular private reserve and lodge, with some of the most welcoming and professional staff I have met. What's more they take 'rewilding' and conservation very seriously. Their guides are enthusiastic and wildly knowledgeable. What's more their rooms are stunning....and I could go on. It may not be the Kruger, but it certainly makes up for it in...

We stayed in Sanbona for three nights (one in Tinley Lodge and two nights at the explorer camp). It wasn't the first time for us to do a game drive, but we all four agreed that it was definitely the most exciting and unforgettable one! We saw so many animals (elephants, cheetas, lions, rhinos, hyppos, etc.) and our rangers did...

Luxurious tented rooms at Dwyka Lodge, with charming staff who were far beyond just warm and hospitable, was the perfect base to explore the quite superb reserve that has been created at Sambona. Our guide Jannie took us on 6 'drives' over our three days and the experience was way beyond our expectations. We were amazed at the numerous animal...

We had high expectations for our first safari and we weren't disappointed! The tented lodges are beautifully appointed and the staff couldn't do enough to make our stay special, despite our tour operator messing up our booking. Our game drives were efficiently and safely managed in a surprisingly comfortable jeep. Our game driver was extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife and...

Lovely time at Sanbona capped by special treat of white lions. Get the experienced tour guides- they seem to have that something extra you need to find the animals and the personality to make the trip very special. Only recommendation to Sanbona is keep the menu simple in the evening- better to do a simple Brie well than try to...

The reserve is breathtaking and the staff is so lovely. We stayed in the Gondwana Lodge and the room was spotless and the beds were comfortable. Our back patio looked out onto the reserve. Our guide was patient and wonderful, taking his time to ensure that we had the best experiences and saw some amazing animal interactions. In the evening,...

We stayed one night in January in the tented lodge, Dwyka, and experienced one highlight after another during a simply unforgettable 2 days. From Toya's welcome, to Adrian and the team's hospitality in the restaurant, Jannie's exhilarating walkabouts and expertly mixed sundowners...everyone seemed to go out of their way to make this a very special time for our family. Blown...

We actually stayed at both locations. First night at the dwyka lodges and then and the gonswana lodges. While the dwyka lodges are more modern you do feel less of the local experience which is very important in a safari. Dwyka feels like a five star modern tented lodge. While the gondwana lodges gives you the feeling of the farm...
