Nestled in an exclusive, tranquil setting, The Havannah Vanuatu enchants guests with its serene oceanfront ambiance and cultural shows. Many visitors extol the staff's exceptional service and the hotel's immaculate cleanliness.
While the comfortable villas and a host of amenities, including lush gardens and water activities, receive high marks, some guests feel the prices for drinks don't quite match the value offered by comparable resorts. Despite its remote location adding travel time for tourist excursions, the peaceful atmosphere and attentive service make it a popular choice for those seeking a luxurious escape.

My wife and I stayed at The Havannah Resort in January 2024, seeking some much-needed R&R, and we couldn’t have asked for a more tranquil and indulgent getaway.
Positives:
- All-Inclusive Bliss
From the moment we arrived, we were treated to an all-inclusive experience featuring incredible food and drinks. Every meal was a culinary delight, offering generous portions that left us thoroughly satisfied (maybe a bit too much food!). The cocktails and drinks were equally impressive, complementing the resort’s laid-back luxury vibe.
- Exceptional Service
The staff truly elevate The Havannah experience. From the warm welcome upon arrival to the playful, friendly, and attentive service throughout our stay, we felt pampered and cared for every step of the way. Their little cheeky moments added a personal and delightful touch to the experience.
- The Villa
We chose the Deluxe Waterfront Villa. Our villa was nothing short of spectacular. It featured a large private pool with a suspended daybed overlooking the ocean—a perfect spot to soak up the views in complete seclusion. Being the furthest villa from the lobby and restaurant added an extra layer of peace and privacy. The open-plan design was airy and spacious, boasting a king-size bed, a sunken living area, and a luxurious bathroom with all the amenities you could need.
- Exclusive Location
Nestled on the west coast of Efate, about a 45-minute drive from Bauerfield Airport, The Havannah feels miles away from the tourist crowds. This serene location offers a true sense of exclusivity and tranquility, perfect for unwinding in paradise.
- Airport Transfers & The Drive
Getting to The Havannah is an adventure in itself! Vanuatu roads are challenging, with potholes the size of craters and detour tracks formed along the road to navigate around them. Thankfully, The Havannah provides airport transfers with an expert driver who made the journey both safe and entertaining. He knew every pothole and every detour like the back of his hand. Hang on to the Jesus bar—this drive is an adventure sport, and you’ll come to appreciate it as part of the charm of visiting this beautiful island!
Negatives:
While it’s hard to fault The Havannah, it’s worth noting that staying here is not cheap. Compared to other high-end accommodations in the Pacific, such as the Royal Davui in Fiji, The Havannah falls slightly short in terms of comparative value for money. That said, it remains a fabulous choice for a luxurious and peaceful escape.
Final Thoughts:
The Havannah Resort offers a magical blend of exclusivity, relaxation, and indulgence. Whether you’re lounging by your private pool or savoring a gourmet meal under the stars, this is a destination that delivers a truly memorable experience. While it may not be the most cost-effective option in the region, its charm, location, and outstanding service make it a fantastic choice for anyone seeking a romantic and rejuvenating retreat.

If there was ever a paradise on earth then this surely has to be it. The resort is absolutely stunning from its location right on the edge of an aquamarine ocean to the whole ambiance, professional service and friendlyness of every single member of staff. From the minute we stepped off the plane at Port Vila to be greeted with cold towels and water in a luxury air conditioned vehicle by our friendly driver. Our villa was spotless and included every amenity we could wish for - our private infinity pool and cabana complete with day bed. We stayed 11 nights and not once were we presented with the same menu for lunch or dinner. The meals were second to none and we would consider the restaurant to be fine dining complete with white table cloths and superb service with entertainment most nights. We cannot fault this resort and will certainly recommend it and hopefully return one day.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveler reviews.
We've just had 4 nights, and it wasn't long enough. We were in a garden room, and they're very private with an undercover daybed outside as well as a cabana with 2 comfortable chairs and a table. If it's hot in the cabana, just turn the fan on, and if you don't want to be in the sun too much, these rooms will suit you. They are set behind ocean view rooms, so we did find the sea breeze didn't often reach them, but the rooms have aircon, fans, and are stunningly beautiful. Twin vanities, king bed, they had everything you'd need for a comfortable stay and are very close to the dining area.
The staff are amazing, friendly but reserved, and our names were remembered immediately.
I suggest booking your water activities upon arrival, as the seas and winds are changeable. We did the complimentary evening sunset cruise the day we arrived, (similar to the harbour cruise without the snorkelling), then I did the harbour cruise the next day.
Please note, the harbour cruise is a fabulous snorkelling cruise, not necessarily a sightseeing cruise. They take a kayak and SUP, but I didn't use them as I was in the water. An absolute bargain at 3,500 VUV, ($46 AUD) so I did it twice as the snorkelling was amazing. Zadrack, the skipper, took me to 3 different places to snorkel, with basically no time limit! The snorkelling across at the picnic beach area (Momo Island I think) is just as amazing.
The snorkelling in front of the resort's activity hut is only ok, so go on the tours and you'll be glad you did.
If the weather is windy, you'll have to postpone, so book when you arrive.
The island shows on Monday and Wednesdays are both excellent, so plan your dates to include these. This quiet, adults only resort is expensive but worth it for the experience. It's one of the best holidays we've had.
Book a table for dinner under the tree, or whichever table you wish.
We requested an afternoon transfer to our transit motel, so we checked out at 11am, and were able to enjoy a delicious complimentary lunch before leaving at 1pm.
We'd love to go back.....

If you want to experience heaven, then The Havannah Vanuatu will come pretty close! My husband and I stayed from 6-11 Nov 2024 and we must say it was one of the best places we have ever been to! From the moment you arrive you are greeted with so much warmth, beautiful gardens, serene and quite surroundings and the most divine setting you could ever wish to wind down and relax in.
We were blessed with perfect weather and we stayed in a Waterfront Villa which I would highly recommend. Extremely comfortable, clean and relaxing accommodation tucked away among green foliage and colourful flowers overlooking the calm and turquoise crystal clear water which you can walk straight down to from your room. We had little steps down to the water from the plunge pool. The water is so calm and a perfect temperature for swimming.
The resort is immaculately kept with paths winding through the gardens to the main dining and bar area which overlooks the water. ALL staff working there are the most beautiful people with warm friendly smiles and always a happy greeting. They made us feel so well looked after.
The food.....oh my, it is DELICIOUS!! You won't go hungry that's for sure. There is a different lunch and dinner menu everyday with starters, mains and desserts to choose from. The bar is well stocked with an extensive selection of drinks to satisfy any fancy. Breakfast is also delicious and stays the same menu each day.
You can do as little or as much as you wish whilst staying at this resort and everything is designed to ensure you can relax and enjoy your stay.
Coming from someone who is quite particular about being careful when selecting somewhere to stay and researching the quality of accommodation and services promised, I can honestly say I highly, highly recommend The Havannah and give it a HUGE 5/5 stars. To all the staff, thank you for making our stay so wonderful and unforgettable. Would love to return one day soon.

This is a very nice place, well run and mostly a great experience. I recommend it to anyone looking for a nice relaxing break. The food was VERY good and the service professional and attentive. We stayed in a Lagoon room and found it very pleasant with a lovely relaxing view over the harbour, bed was firm and comfortable, the TV only shows a very snowy and grainy Channel 7 from Victoria and Sky news but does have U tube Prime and Net flicks. There are some books in a small library in the main lounge. The Wednesday cocktail party and Fire Dancing was top class. It is 40 minutes out of Vila but the road is not too bad and the shuttle into town daily is good ,but there's very little to see in town. The one thing where they fail badly is with the wine list, we enjoy white wines especially a chardonnay and there is only some very cheap and ordinary wine on the list. I am talking $10 AUD wines for $70 AUD ..I know there is a large duty on imported wines and I realize I am staying in a resort but give us a go..If I'm paying $70 for a wine I want something at least in the $25 to $30 range. Raj, the manager, is aware that the wines are ordinary and assures me they are working to improve them. Will we return...certainly but I'll ask for an update on the drinks before booking.

We have just returned from an amazing few days at The Havannah. To say it was exceptional is an understatement - our stay exceeded our expectations. From the airport pickup to be greeted by Steve (who had great music taste), a cool refreshing towel after our flight and a cool bottle of water. We were welcomed with a singing duo and a lei and provided a full briefing about the resort over a nice refreshing mocktail. We were then taken to our accommodation (for us was a waterfront villa) and we were instantly relaxed and officially on island time. The food is spectacular with a daily changing menu, the day spa (romantic escape package) which was amazing and all the complimentary activities such as island picnic, fishing, sunset cruise, entertainment were fabulous! The staff are beautiful, friendly and also wanting to please . The Havannah is a piece of heaven and we can’t wait to return!

I can not say enough good things about The Havannah. It is so peaceful and beautiful. Even though there are many other people there, you feel like you are the only ones. The room was decorated beautifully, and the staff were so friendly, attending to your every need, with a few little surprises 🙂 The food was varied and delicious, more than enough. Alcohol drinks were extra. We walked up the driveway after dark to look at the stars. Amazing. The water is crystal clear, and we found a little section of the beach that was perfect for a swim. We are already planning another visit. It is a little pricey, but so worth it

We travelled to The Havannah to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It is a beautiful, adults only resort. It is small and so it is quiet, peaceful and relaxing. We got to know the staff and they took care to remember who we were and our preferences. There are many resorts with excellent facilities and beautiful grounds, but their size often precludes the personal and friendly service that we experienced at The Havannah. Everywhere is spotless, the gardens and beach are well maintained and the views from the restaurant are unbeatable. We enjoyed the pool, beach and activities such as the catamarans, kayaks, SUPs, snorkelling, sunset and day cruises, cultural performances as well as a couple island tours, which The Havannah organised for us. We saw coral, many types of fish, even dolphins, turtles and dugongs all just off the beach, which was very special. There were a couple 'hiccups' during our stay. We were treated with kindness and courtesy by Raj and the managers, who looked after and helped us. Our flight home was cancelled so we were stranded in paradise for an extra 4 days at The Havannah and we cannot imagine a better place to be stranded. Thank you very much to Raj and his outstanding team for all your care. You are what makes the difference.

For a luxury, quiet and relaxing destination, especially for couples this is the spot on Vanuatu. Very personable and attentive staff who go out of their way to make you feel special. Food was amazing and plenty of daytime water activities on offer and trips around the island if needed. The local fire dance showcase and BBQ beach dinner and drinks is an absolute highlight. Night time entertainment was available on 3 evenings and things did wind down early. The location did mean a fair of travelling to the more touristy destinations on the island. If you want to be pampered, well fed and enjoy the company of likeminded people this is for you.

Absolutely one of the best resorts ever stayed at. Our lagoon pool villa was exceptional - large and with heaps of amenities - access to pool from our room with outdoor day beds and loungers. The hotel complex was prestige and immaculate. The staff friendly, helpful, charming, nothing was too much trouble - made our stay perfect. And to cap it all the restaurant food was exemplary… a new menu every day for lunch and dinner with wide selection of choices and just so much food Thank you to everyone at The Havannah. We had such an awesome time and will be back
