We stayed in one of the ship units (no 2) and loved it! Very well presented, our boys slept downstairs in the 'cabin' and loved the porthole windows. Upstairs is a queen bed and a cute kitchen area. The whole place is set up on farmland with farm animals and the turkeys even talk back, very funny. The man who... More

Camper vans may park at Woodlyn Park for free. Billy was very accommodating and provided helpful information about the area. As we were visiting in Winter, many places were closed or had shortened hours. Woodlyn Park was fully operational.

The Hobbit Room was quirky, large, clean and well appointed. Some maintenance and cleaning-up around the grounds, however, it was late Autumn and that is to be expected. The big problem was the dampness in the room - it reeked of damp. This is probably due to the fact its is underground and there had been a fair bit of... More

We enjoyed our one night stay in the aeroplane. Tiny everything - including the shower that was way too small for my 6" 3' husband - but such a novelty for our two kids to explore. Wouldn't hang out any longer, but for one night to visit the caves it was great.

After taking the Hobbiton Movie Set Tour, my expectations were up for a similar ambiance. All we got was an underground room, round doors and windows and burlap curtains. This had the potential to be charming but feel far short. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I would recommend hiring a gardener to manage the overgrown foliage and to plant... More

Our family of 6 stayed in the Hobbit Room. The idea was fun and the kids liked it. The room was large and clean. There was no house keeping before the second night stay. There is no shampoo. The wifi did not work. The check in staff (owners) were not very hospitable. The grounds a pretty run down. The bunk... More

I really enjoyed my stay here. I had hobbit hole two for the night and it was brilliant. I think the space made it pretty awesome and I loved the view it was stunning. I wish I could live here actually. The down side is the Internet. It doesn't work unless u take a 5 min walk to the office... More

It's great that you enjoyed the owner's vision of a Hobbit Hole and that you enjoyed staying in our lovely country setting. In terms of internet, we are exploring ways to extend the signal down to the units...part of the difficulty is the rolling contour of our Shire. However, as you noted people have free wifi access up at the... More

My family stayed here while visiting the caves. We stayed in the ship which was very interesting. It was three stories high. It had two bathrooms. a kitchen, family room, several bedrooms and a TV. It was very different but we enjoyed it. They also have hobbit holes and an airplane you can stay in. I recommend staying here. They... More

We stayed in the hobbit hole with my sisters and partners which had 4 bunk beds, 1 double bed and the a sofa bed that could fit another 2. This was great for a big family and I loved the furnishings and old twine sacks as the curtains however when it has been raining this means the scent of the... More

My husband and I plus our two kids (aged 4 and 16 months) were travelling north but only made it as far as Waitomo before deciding we were both too tired to continue. It was late at night, the week before Xmas so we were unsure whether we would find anything last minute. We stumbled upon Woodlyn Park and were... More
