In the past four weeks I have stayed in a number of types of accommodation. Donalea is truly a gem amongst them. A clean, spacious building that is full of character and reflects the early days of Franklin. The gardens as I arrived were arresting and set off this lovely place. The views over the water change with reflection and light that just drew me to a feeling of warmth during my stay. Comfortable beds, very roomy showers and a priceless view complimented the stay in my room. This type of B and B that reflects an era is my favourite; especially with very friendly hosts whose presence was welcoming and masterful in just the right level of interaction.
Donalea is a beautiful house surrounded by lovely gardens. The hosts are welcoming and generous with their hospitality. We stayed in the spa room, and it has a huge bathroom, and very comfortable bedroom. TV and DVD player in the bedroom with a selection of DVDs in the lounge to borrow. Lovely touches such as afternoon tea on arrival (including home made fruit cake). Breakfast is good (cereal, croissants, toast, home made jam and local fruits etc) with a peaceful view of the river from the dining table. Highly recommended.
The views from Donalea over the bay are magnificent and created a wonderful backdrop to our stay. Our room was spacious, clean and well decorated with a comfortable bed. Small touches, like homemade fruit cake and sweets in our room added to our enjoyment and the friendly hosts, Don and Leanne, were the icing on the cake. The breakfast, consisting of cereals, homemade breads, croissants and muffins with homemade preserves was more than adequate for us. We will certainly stay there again when we next visit this beautiful part of the world.
We loved our three day stay at Donalea B&B in the picturesque village of Castle Forbes Bay. 💖 Our hosts, Don and Leanne have created a beautiful, warm, and relaxing environment. 💖 Our room overlooked lovely gardens and the water. Our breakfast was delicious! Hastings Caves and Thermal Springs is about half an hour away. The nearest supermarket is only 10 minutes away in Huonville.
Donalea was a brilliant find. The house and gardens are immaculate. The room was large and the bed very comfortable. It was a cold wet evening and they had a lovely fire going in the living room for us. A treat of fruitcake and biscuits was provided to have with coffee as well. In the morning a continental breakfast was laid out including homemade bread, fruit compote and fresh blackberries. Leanne even gave us some delicious lemon curd and poppyseed muffins to take with us for morning tea. Don and Leanne were very gracious hosts. We could not fault anything and highly recommend Donalea.
