Spend 4 days at the hotel, and enjoyed each day. Although there are no "frills" at the site, the room was clean with a beautiful view of the ocean, the pool area was large and well cared for, and the hotel was located essentially on the beach! I greatly enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and the hotel was located very near the historic city center. There are many bars and restaurants within easy walking distance of the hotel. If you are looking for a calm and basic vacation spot centered on beach life, this hotel is for you!

The bad: The room looks nothing like in the pictures online. We spent good money for their standard room for two days and felt cheated the moment we saw the room. You basically pay a three to four star hotel price for a run-down hostel room. Iv'e had better value in a rent-per-hour budget love motel or drug den. The view in our room was of an orange-green concrete wall. Stark painted walls in the room, very basic, with a naked lightbulb for light. It was very damp because of the rain, but it smelled of urine in the room! Very small bathroom where it's very hard to move around. TV from the 1990's with horrible signal and no international channels. The bed was very uncomfortable and was squeaking the whole night. The pillows were lumpy and I didn't dare to take off the cover to see how old they were. No W-ifi signal in the rooms. And even sitting in the lobby or pool area with full connection the internet is so bad it's not even possible to check e-mail. We barely could check our bank account. The "business area" is one single computer that everyone is waiting to use because of the terrible Wi-fi. And even with the computer it's almost impossible to do anything because of the slow internet and connection drops. In hotels in Porto Seguro, Saquarema, Macae, Vitoria, Buzios, Itacaré and Rio it has been so much better, even in the rain, so it's not only the weather. If the owner reads this, please upgrade your internet connection and buy 2-3 Wi-fi repeaters to get signal in the rooms. It makes a big difference. Right now it's unuseable. The good: Pool area is nice and clean. Breakfast is good. Clean white new towels! Conclusion: If you are willing to pay 3-4 star hotel prices for the beach location you will get a horrible run-down shack. I bet the deluxe rooms are better, but for that you are paying all inclusive resort style money. It's definitely not the money we paid and we felt cheated by the pictures online. The hotel would be worth it for three times less the cost, what a bed in a dorm would cost. Prepare for the worst value hotel we've seen after having travelled in South and central america for eight months during three separate trips.
