We enjoyed this hotel. It was very comfortable, cozy and clean. All of the staff from housekeeping & Maintence on thru to the desk and restaurnt staff took time to say hello to us when they saw us. The location is on the street that goes around the convent so you see it from the terrace. The pool area was quiet and usually no ne rise in it, or just a couple. We enjoyed the breakfasts that were available to buy. The staff was knowledgable about the area and even the combi & bus schedule. We went July 23 so it WAS blistering hot, next time I'll choose Nov - March to go back again..... We walked almost everywhere, Kinich Kakmó is about 5 blocks & Kinich Restaurnt about the same. Taxi's are in park, just around the corner from Hotel and we only paid 20 pesos to go to Cannon Park, we walked back but too hot to walk there. The horse drawn carriages are readily available & they do well at giving a tour in Spanish. This seems to be a tourist town, but tourists from all over Mexico, we saw one European family & one Canadian or us couple... There is a ADO (Centro ) bus station right in the center of town off the mercado and it's about 2 hours back to Merida. Buses or axis leave in all directions from there. You can also do collectivo transit and that is only 1 hour to Merida but limited on times. Know one leaves at 4 pm, not sure if there might be a 6 or 8 am one but none thru the day. This would be a simple drive for anyone with a car

We got to Izamal just after noon and stopped into the hotel to see where we should park as it is all street parking. Ricardo was awesome. He went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and get us whatever we needed. Our room was ready so he let us check in. He also moved some cones and had us park directly in front of the hotel near security cameras. We had room 3 on the side. Very quiet, very pretty room with a fridge. Pool was delightful. There is a 3rd floor terrace that we enjoyed people watching while having a beer. There is breakfast available in the morning outside under a thatched roof. perfect! We walked everywhere. Izamal is a very vibrant and yellow town. Wish I had booked for a couple of nights

We are settling in for our last night at Rinconada De Convention Hotel. We have had a pleasant stay and found the staff friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable. The rooms have a/c and fan which is great for the 35° weather. Beds are comfortable with good linen, towels and bath mats all good. The breakfast served at the outside palapa has a good selection and is reasonably priced. They have a pool which is great for the afternoon cool down. It is situated on the back corner of the church which makes everything a comfortable walking distance. We found Izamal a friendly interesting town and enjoyed our three days here.

On the plus side, this hotel is in a great location, had plenty of hot water in our well-functioning shower, & was quiet at night. So, if that clears your bar, consider this hotel. On the negative side, it appears that the management/owners simply don't care about their hotel. A member of the staff sits at a large table in a darkened entrance hall, watching guests come & go, never offering any service or even a friendly greeting. Their only interest in us was getting payment for the room. Meanwhile, our room was very poorly maintained: *very* dusty, holes in the curtains, no screen on the sliding glass door, minimally functioning TV & AC, a pitcher & water glasses but no drinking water, rust on lampshades, etc. There has been no attempt to add any charm to the room: no Mexican decoration, brown (dirty-feeling) bed spreads, worn furniture, etc. We had reserved a room for 2 nights & decided to stay rather than argue about a refund; be aware that there is a 2 week cancellation policy. Not the worst hotel I've ever stayed in but certainly the worst I've ever had in the Yucatan.

Booking said room had a minibar which turned out to be an empty unplugged refrigerator. No bottled water. When we asked for some water we were offered a bottle with about 6 ounces for 15 pesos. Really? No drinking water without paying triple the market price. Booking also said flat screen TV with satellite; we got no reception. Sheets and towels were clean but the room was VERY dusty. We had to use one of their towels to dust the furniture and light fixtures over the bed. No parking available; just leave your car on the street (which did have plenty of space).
