Hotel Mawimbi could not be more perfect and this is in great part to the care the two owners bestow onto the property. It is someplace that you just want to linger for its beauty. The Whale Shark tour is more expensive than other operators on the island and worth every last cent. The boat is state of the art,... More

The hotel is wonderful. It is very peaceful and laid back, just perfect for relaxing. The wait staff all knew our names and the rooms that we were in. We could place an order while we were lounging in a beach chair or beach bed and they would either bring what we ordered to us (drinks) or come and let... More

I've wanted to stay at Mawimbi since I first saw the property six years ago. Finally, five friends and I made it down and we can't stop raving about it. The hotel is small - only 10 rooms. We had five rooms in the main building. All were well appointed and comfortable, with large balconies and hammocks. I am used... More

The room was tight, but very comfortable and had A/C as well as an excellent patio with hammocks. The beach was very nice, and there were tons of great places to lounge and sit. Walkable to Holbox (duh!), and a nice bar/restaurant.

The place: Outside: not only a peaceful oasis but a real garden, well maintained and next to the water (that’s rare!). No crowding or loud music. Wow! Lots of trees for suitable shade, good quality chairs and beds. By strolling along the beach we found that Hotel Mawimbi was by far the best one of the hotel beaches. Inside: beautiful,... More

I had wanted to stay here but it was fully booked when I planned my trip. Once I got on the island and realized I needed to extend my stay to do a whale shark tour due to bad weather, I walked in and asked for availability. I'm very lucky they had a room for 2 nights. I had a... More

We could not have been happier with our Mawimbi experience! It was the perfect stay - relaxed, unpretentious and beautiful The rooms (we had 3) were really clean, comfortable and steps from the beach (one of our rooms overlooked the beach). Hot showers, cold A/C, beach towels and well-insulated (we didn't hear any of the other guests). The rooms were... More

Early in our stay on Holbox we had dinner at Mawimbi, and subsequently went on the whale shark tour. We were so impressed with both experiences that we decided to stay a night at the hotel before returning home. I truly wish we had could have stayed longer. It was beautiful - smallish but beautifully decorated and comfortable room, lovely... More

The hotel was on the beach. It had a nice restaurant. The bungalows were really nice. We did not hear any of the other guest during the night. It was close to all the attractions and restaurants. The hotel personnel provided us with lots of useful information about the area.

We stayed 10 days and had very personal attention. Onny showed us the local wildlife at mawimbi and Carlos drove the boat whale watching and gave me my first flamingo feather! At sunset one night we were alerted to the flamingoes flying low across the waves. We had our feet in the sand and cold pinadas in our hands. It... More
