My husband and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary on this beautiful island. The Hotel is set beautifully by the beach and is placed to experience amazing sunsets. The Staff, the rooms and the cleanliness of this hotel is a 10. They are very accommodating and the food is wonderful. We will miss this place but we will return!
It was wonderful holidays. Very remote with beautiful beaches. Isis at reception and the bar restaurant staff were excellent and very kind. Only downside was the noise of the little planes departing Holbox airport. We spent a very nice time during the days at the beach and during night in the close town
The 2 hour+ transfer plus a lovely ferry crossing was well worth it. La Palapa is all you dream of for a great get away beach holiday. The hotel grounds lead to the beach and are beautifully looked after, with all the sun bathing amenities you’d expect looking at the wonderful sea. The breakfast bar on the beach is wonderful with creative breakfasts and wonderful kitchen and serving staff, and after, it’s a place for drinks and lunch. The hotel rooms are comfortable with good hot showers in a nice bathroom, the room has rustic charm. The hotel is well placed in Holbox to take advantage of the restaurants and bars.
This was our second stay at La Palapa hotel. It was as charming in 2022 as it was in 2020, before Covid. It is an older hotel but the decor is cozy and every room has a water view. The service was excellent. On my husband’s birthday we were greeted with towels folded to look like a cake, balloons and birthday card. So thoughtful! The small bar/restaurant serves a delicious breakfast and snacks. Their mojitos are the best! We will happily stay there the next time we visit Holbox.
We vacationed at Isla Holbox with 3 other couples who had stayed here before. Hotel La Palapa is fabulous! Great location, great rooms, great staff, great restaurant...what more can I say? It is rather private compared to other hotels farther down the beach and had a clean beach!. The staff kept the beach in tip-top shape, raking the sea grass that washed ashore every day, which was a big plus. Our rooms were cleaned daily, the perimeters were neat and clean and it felt very safe. We would definitely stay here again!
Service was generally good, food was good. A major glitch was there was no one at the airport to pick us up (we booked transportation with the hotel). Called the hotel, no one answered. Looked and looked for a hour before hotel called us. Said they had been trying to contact us via WhatsApp. We don't have WhatsApp and why assume everyone has it? When we got to the hotel, there was no explanation, just "there was a lot of people at the airport." Beach has seaweed that was only halfway cleaned up after a storm. Our "beachfront" room on second floor overlooked the restaurant. All day long people walked directly in front of the beach lounge chairs. Yes, it the hotel is convenient to town/restaurants, but not the place to be if you are looking for peace and quiet. Beach further north doesn't have sea weed.…
The food at the Bar is at a gourmet level. The service is also very good and attentive. You won't find it in other restaurants in the island where the service is pretty inconsistent. Try the breakfast options that will give you an idea of the quality food you can get. Then be adventurous and try the dishes they offer for lunch, the food is Mexican with a twist of international taste. Chef Mario and his staff are an amazing crew. If you reserve a room make sure that you include breakfast since it is totally worth it the money, you can enjoy your breakfast at the beach avoiding the long lines at the few restaurants that offer breakfast in the town. The hotel is very clean. The staff is always ready to help you with a big smile. The hotel is in a central location where you can have an easy walk to bars and restaurants this characteristic makes it also not very quite. It is a small beach front hotel meaning that the beach is very small, not the best you can get in the area. The hotel is perfect for couples, Friends or Solo travelers. My recommendation is enjoy the cleanness that the hotel has to offer, the amazing food and drinks at the bar, the central location but take your every day walks discovering other good beach spots that the island has to offer.…
The hotel was in a great location on the island, very close to downtown for restaurants and bars but a quite spot to relax during the day. The hotel staff were really helpful, especially the beach bar staff making yummy cocktails! Rooms were spacious and clean and had lovely features like the shell taps in the sink and shower. Only tiny thing was we hoped we would have a hammock on our balcony as all the others seemed to have one, and maybe the hotel would consider raking the seaweed on the beach in the future? Would stay here again! Make sure you get a drink and watch the sunset from the hotel rooftop!
What a beautiful hotel on Holbox, I can't say enough about the great people there always smiling (you could tell it in their eyes) and if I had to name the best, I would have to name them all, although Eddy made sure my wife's drinks were made just how she liked them, The rooms are beautiful, the beach was fantastic as was the free breakfast. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Holbox.
The staff is wonderful and the views are beautiful. This was my second time staying here for me and a group of friends. This is not a location for the 'resort' set, more for those who appreciate the natural beauty and the good food. I am sad that the town feels like it is getting more developed, but La Palapa still feels down to earth and relaxing,
