basic hotel 15 min away from vinales by car, hotel has pool with sunbeds. rooms are clean and very basic. no wifi in room only in reception and by buying scratch cards for 1 cuc per hour access. hotel restaurant is not very recommendable - food was too salty to eat. breakfast very basic too. I would recommend visitor to go to vinales instead. staff is nice.
We paid over £100 per night for our room via Booking.com, who interestingly no longer offer this hotel on their site. The first room we were shown to was filthy, with mould on the walls. The window leaked and was also filthy and we had a view over a yard full of air con units. It turned out the lodges over the other side of the road, where we had booked to stay, were all closed due to no hot water being available. We obviously complained, and were shown to the only other available room. This was somewhat cleaner, but had minimal natural light - only a strip in the bathroom, and we had to go downstairs to the lounge if we wanted to read. The beds had plastic covered undersheets which crackle when we moved - the type you get when there is a danger of the bed being soiled! The swimming pools both seemed to be open to the public (it seems they are allowed if they pay a fee) and each day we were there were full of beer swilling locals, who seemed to like swimming fully clothed. Very hygienic! The location is about 5km outside of Vinales, so there isn't much choice of where to eat - the hotel dinners were poor. The immediate location is very nice. That is the ONLY good thing about the place. We weren't expecting luxury, as this is Cuba, but there are MUCH better places in Vinales at a fraction of the price this place charges. Our request for compensation was refused. This hotel is all about raking in the money. None of this money is put back into renovating or upkeeping this sorry excuse for a hotel, which frankly should not be open to the public.…
...from previous guests are your thing, then this dump is for you! Alexander Roberts is a 5 star tour company and this is how they arranged for our farewell night in Cuba. What a major step down from beautiful Havana. Apparently Cuba is not ready for upscale land tours.
Good news is it has a pool and that’s all the good news. Rooms are small and not well kept. Terrible shower. Inoperable room safe. Uncomfortable lobby and that’s the only place for internet. Avoid this place. Wish we would have.
Stayed in the main hotel for 2 nights in November. We stayed in a room on the first floor which was blighted by significant mould on the walls and in the wardrobe. Bed mattresses were poor quality covered with plastic liners. Water was unavailable for morning showers on the second day. The windows did not shut allowing mosquitos in at night. The swimming pool is nice, as is the location walking distance from the Indian Cave. The bar area was blighted by constant load music and TV. And the bar staff were not welcoming. The food in the evening was grim, looking as if it had been left out a long time. Breakfast was very poor, with insufficient cups for coffee and rancid butter. This is all a real shame as this hotel could be much better with a little more care , staff training and investment…
