The hotel looks a bit old-styled and would probably require some extra works, but it was clean and we did not expect too much. Both the room and the bathroom were tiny. But the view....OMG, you have Vinales valley just in front of you and suddenly nothing else matters
The hotel grounds were nice. The Vinales valley is abolutley gorgeous and the hotel offers spectacular views. I loved waking up to the sounds of nature and the beautiful, peaceful scenery. Wifi was difficuly to access - had to be in the hotel lobby or balcony. The hotel is pink, with basic rooms. About what I expected for the area.
We stayed for two nights and our group (of nine) was placed in the newer section of the hotel in the building furthest away from reception. This is a good thing as it was much quieter than the main building and also, I think the rooms on this level were recently painted. All our rooms on the second level had balconies with great views of the Karst landscape. I had room 215 and would not recommend it as it was difficult to lock/unlock the door without assistance. Though room 216, the corner room resembles the others, it is a much better choice as it doesn’t share a balcony. The rooms that share balconies do have a privacy partition. The problem with the lock was a safety issue for me so I moved to room 316 and noticed that it had not been painted in a while and the room looked tired. The morning I left, a custodian was working on the lock in room 215 —- so the problem may be solved by now. The dinner buffet is very good with numerous choices. I was impressed with the home-made ice-cream serve-yourself bar and learned that if someone just want dessert from the buffet it is 1.50 CUC. This has to be the biggest (and most delicious) bargain in Pinar del Rio.…
Amazing view of Vinales valley from the small veranda on our room. Inside seemed clean enough, although not sure what coulld drop though into bathroom from ceiling (looking through wooden slats I could see straight into roof void, ducting, pipes, etc visible). Staff were pleasant and quick to try to unblock toilet and show how access to room safe worked. No hand towels the first night, but sorted next day on asking the maid for some. Intermittent water supply and none at all for last morning (unable to shower or flush toilet). The advertised infinity pool was not even close. The water level looked very low and it was a large but basic pool. Cats wandering about pool and dining room and surprised to see a hen walking around the pool area too. Pool side chairs were mostly broken and unusable. Eggs cooked whole you waited for breakfast were good - rest of food mediocre. Best experience was the food and amazing pina coladas next door at the BuenaVista restaurant! We would not stay at Los Jazmines again.…
Avoid, our room had filthy drapes, broken shatters, ants nest in the corner and buffet dinner was full of recycled salads with added greasy mayonnaise. Staff would not change £, although advertised in the reception. At least bed covers were clean :)
The views are amazing from the hotel. But the hotel needs to improve . Even byCuban standards this hotel is poor. I understand furnishings being dated but in the external block we stayed in the paint work needed a good clean and we had no water the two mornings gs we stayed there. So were unable to wash or flush the toilets. Speaking to other travellers this has happened before. The main block had water. Around the pool many of the wooden chairs were broken and missing slates. Cats wondered about everywhere , even in the dining room . The chicken wondering about the pool bar seating bar was interesting. When pouring cereal out it was damp and stale. Health and safety would have a field day. Given a choice I would stay in Vinales town and just pop up to the hotel for the view. We stayed in better Casas on our travels.…
In other parts of the world I would rate this hotel a 3/5 but in Cuba I rate it a 4/5. It's in a lovely location with beautiful views but it can be very busy (and noisy) as it hosts large groups. The young woman at the front desk was a bit brusque, no doubt overwhelmed by the number of people hovering nearby. Our rooms were located in the buildings apart from the main structure. They were quiet, of good size and quite comfortable, but nothing special. We had no trouble with water or electricity during our one night stay. The breakfast was an average buffet with a good number of items. We did not use the pool so I'm unable to comment on that. WiFi is available for a minimal cost but it seems to work only around the lobby.
An interesting rural hotel in Cuba and makes a change from the chain hotels. We had a good size room with fabulous views over the valley in a separate block to the main hotel. There was some work going on to replace balcony railing and the whole building needed up dating. The lock was quit difficult to use until you got used to it. One day there was no water in the morning or evening but this is not the fault of the hotel. This is Cuba and not everything works as it should. The restaurant was in the main part and the buffet food was average but plentiful. The shop on site was well stocked and a place to buy water, The swimming pool area was pleasant with plenty of loungers available but you have to pay for the towels, Although this hotel needs a lot to bring it up to standard I would stay again…
Amazing location for this hotel, high above the Vinales valley. The main hotel block comprising Reception, bar and restaurant were charming and cosy. Although fairly limited in choice, the food was plentiful and tasty. Unfortunately the accommodation has suffered from a lack of maintenance - although they were renewing the wrought balcony railing whilst we were there. The bedrooms were a bit disappointing - apart from the wonderful views. Comfortable beds in quite compact rooms. Door locks on some rooms were a bit of a challenge. Fairly well-stocked shop on site. Helpful staff. But would I choose to stay again? You bet I would!
The location is perfect! Fantastic views across the Vinales valley. The rooms are basic and functional, this is definitely not a 'posh' hotel, but it does have a bar and small shop. Some people in my party did not think it was 'up to scratch' but I quite liked it!
