We did research before going and saw comments on sand fleas, we came prepared and had no issues. However on check in, we were given a room which had a missing picture / mirror, there was mold where it was, none of the draws were functioning ( broken - would not slide) so we asked for another room. This room...

If you're looking to go diving or snorkelling, it is a great spot to go. It has a lovely beach, with a beautiful coral reef. But in Cuba there are lots of other places that offer the same and are easier to go to. Unfortunately it a very long and hard drive to get there, about 4 hours from Pinar...

Located on a long, lovely sand beach with palm trees, this hotels offer a variety of accommodations, including beach front cabanas, many of which were being gutted and totally renovated when we were here. Lovely reception area, bar and restaurant. Good thing since you're a LONG way from anywhere and truly a captive audience. Dive shop on site to take...

Well the location is lovely. The villa/ hotel leaves much to be desired. The food in the Breakfast restaurant was dreadful Quite the worst we have ever had anywhere in the world. Stale bread amongst the fresh and dry cakes / pastries. The one good item was fresh omelettes the rest was re heated or a stomach upset waiting to...

We read a lot of negative reviews of this place so we did not know what to expect, but we are positively surprised. It is a nice hotel with spacious rooms (we booked a wooden 'garden view' cabin) and the food is nothing fancy but isn't bad either. Of course the way you experience a place is all about expectations,...

I loved the place!! Few people, romantic landscape, super snorkeling, cristal water! The place is fascinating even though the hotel should really be renewed!! The see view rooms are very old fashioned even if you can enjoy a real see view from your bed. Bad quality buffet and a la carte restaurant. And unfortunately VERY IMPORTANT BE CAREFUL OF SANDFLYERS!!!!!

The Guanahacabibes bio-reserve is a very special place. It is distant from all services. So Maria Gorda is a welcome site. The rooms were fine. The location is stupendous. The diving is supposed to be very good. We found better snorkeling in Hawaii. But the food is a different matter. It is altogether ordinary and often out of a can....

I loved it at Maria La Gorda and really wish I'd booked at least an extra day here. It's a bit of a trek from everywhere else in Cuba, so a bit expensive if you're getting taxis on your own (like I was!), but if you are in a group or get the bus then it's all good. The diving...

It didn't help that our first two days coincided with a tropical storm, but nonetheless, this place didn't begin to live up to its "five star" rating. The rooms were on the small side in the new buildings, and since most who were there were scuba divers, we necessarily had a lot of stuff with us, making the room feel...

Was pleasantly surprised with room & facilities having read some of the reviews. The room was spacious & comfortable, although we did have some flooding during a very heavy tropical storm when rain came through the rather badly fitted AC unit. The buffet restaurant served a good selection of food ( providing you are not vegetarian, but then not sure...
