There is a distinct lack of pride in this hotel. I arrived with my friend expecting our room to be ready for us. Sadly, it appeared that the staff didn't even expect us. The kitchenette had virtually no utensils and only one of the two hobs was working. The TV box was not set-up, there was no iron and the ceiling fan was broken. There was no view and we felt very disappointed. We asked to change rooms but could not move until two days later as the hotel was full. We accepted this, and the manager brought the missing items to the room. We put up with the cold shower knowing we would move. We were happier with our new room that overlooked the pool. (please note, the pool furniture is not set out as it is presented in the picture. No umbrellas. Grubby tables and chairs. No effort made to make it look welcoming. ) At the end of our stay we spoke to the owner/manager about a refund for the first two nights. This was refused based on it being 'policy' not to refund money! Needless to say, we won't return to this hotel. On a positive note, the room was cleaned daily by a lovely lady. There is a bus stop close by, but it takes an hour to get to the livelier areas and beaches and the bus can get very crowded. I recommend getting a hire car to see the best of this wonderful island.

Not part of the hustle and bustle of Oistins, yet close enough to enjoy all of the action. Clean and comfortable and not as pricey as a huge resort. Definitely take time to explore the area at day and at night, especially on the weekend. There is so much of the culture of Barbados right there that it's hard to not have a good time and authentic Bajan experience.

When my husband and I were looking for a hotel for our most recent trip to his birthplace, we came across Tropical Winds. Even though we are more familiar with the west and south coasts, positive reviews and reasonable rates encouraged us to give this Atlantic coast hotel a try. We were not disappointed. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The quiet atmosphere was to our liking. Even though it is a bit farther from Bridgetown and the island's social and night life, the location is ideal for those wanting to get away from it all. The pool was in need of a cleaning, but that was the only drawback to an enjoyable stay. The staff was beyond friendly and helpful.

This is a very quiet property and pretty much in the middle nowhere. They advertise a bar/restaurant that wasn't open while we were there. We came in about 7pm and just stayed one night. Were looking for a value hotel not far from the airport as we had to catch an early flight out. This hotel is in quite a remote location. We chose it due to the fact there was a restaurant/bar on site and we didn't have a car. We had to get another taxi to take us to the very good Marco Polo bar/restaurant that was about 10 minutes away, but another $20 in cab fair. The front desk staff did ask if we would like to call for Chinese food delivery, but we didn't want to sit in the room for dinner. No stores, shops or other businesses in close proximity.

Had a one bedroom apt. overlooking the pool. This place is in the country with limited dining service but the staff is more than willing to provide any service on request .Just remember you are on Island time. The rooms were large and very clean and well equipped. Satellite TV with WIFI available. Air conditioning worked well and there was a nice balcony for sitting out in the evening. The hotel is non-smoking. Good hot water and kitchenette with stove ,fridge microwave and cooking implements and dishes. Although the hotel is some distance from town the buses are only 2.00 Bajan each way and run every half hour til midnight. There are a couple of nice local restaurants a short bus ride up the road from the hotel with great food , music and ambience. As before amazing staff and service. Very friendly and willing to accommodate .I will definitely stay here again. If our fights had not been arranged to return home we would have stayed a few more days. Next time...

Like other reviewers we were put in this hotel when our flight was cancelled for 1 night. About 12 of us arrived at the hotel at midnight tired & hungry having not eaten for 12 hrs. We were told no food arrangements had been made by airline even though we weren't leaving til 2pm. After some persuasion by us the bar was opened & the 2 staff began cooking burger & chips for us at 1am. They also agreed to give us breakfast & lunch. We could not thank them enough. Yes, it's a very basic hotel but our room was clean & comfortable. It was ok for a overnight stay. Didn't see any other guests apart from our party. Remote location would need a car if staying any length of time. Would give this hotel *** as it's clean & but very tired looking, facilites are ok but need better maintenance. The staff are the best part of this hotel.

Staff went out of their way to make my stay very pleasant. Being a solo traveler I very much appreciated all the helpful suggestions, smiles and courtesy. My room overlooking the pool, second floor (which I requested) was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Television had many stations, free WiFi, darling kitchenette, (saved money by preparing many meals), air-condition and or ceiling fan. Since I didn't rent a car, had to rely on local bus $1 US. Not the best mode of travel for a single, female but appreciated staff helping with suggestions. If you are looking for action and ease of sightseeing, better stay closer to main towns (for much higher price). If you are looking for value and calmness; this is your place!

We were sent here following the cancellation of our flight, oh dear what a night. We were told it would be a dinner bed and breakfast basis. There were 20 + of us dinner arrived in servings of 2 so it took some time for us to have dinner. Some gave up and went to bed. The bedrooms were basic 2 star and not very clean. The bath was not to be bathed in. We were all up early for a pick up to the airport...no breakfast not even a coffee was offered.

I usually never stay at a hotel unless I do my research. After looking up Tropical Winds on TripAdvisor and Hotels.com I felt like it would be a nice hotel to overnight in. From start to finish it was horrible. We get there and the AC in our room isn't working, my mother has hot flashes so we knew we couldn't stay in that room, we told the person who was working, he came into our room, literally touches the AC and says he will give it some time. We try the fan in our room which big surprise is also not working. After half an hour with no change we go to him and he finally puts us in another room. We settle in our room and try to connect to wi-fi. NO LUCK. the wifi only works in the bar area, and even then keeps cutting in and out. The next morning we sit down to breakfast and ONE person is taking orders, cooking and serving food. Of course getting our food takes forever. My brother asks for some water and is given a glass of water with an ant and tiny unknown particles floating in it. He then asks for a bottle of water only to be told they do not have any. We decide to go into the pool to salvage some part of our stay and it is filled with leaves and other debris. Check out time rolls around and we are still on the compound as our flight wasn't set to leave until a little later. We ask if we can check out a little later and after everything the woman says we will have to pay extra. UNACCEPTABLE. This hotel will NEVER get my money again.

Response from tropic07, General Manager at Tropical Winds Apartment Hotel
Responded May 18, 2015
Dear Guest 'Awful", Remember on the night of check-in, because of your request for two (2) rooms with twin beds, you were given rooms a few feet apart as we wanted to make sure that all amenities were in good working order. You, yes you (an older adult and young adult - were at check in while two other young adults waited on the outside), decided that you wanted rooms side by side and you didn't mind that there were any small issue because you were only staying the night. You were told when you went to the room that if there were any issues (air-conditioning or anything else), there would have been someone to assist you with moving back to the original room. This was done. On the issue of you finding particles and an ant in your water- some settlements are always in tap water from chlorine especially when ice is made from the said water- We do apologise. Internet is a problem is areas of the hotel due to walls and steel within ( it is slower than on the outer areas) but does work - this service is free. On your checkout you were told that you could've use one room and latest checkout would have been 1pm and thereafter a fee would have been incurred. You made the decision to checkout and stay on the premises in the restaurant area ( the restaurant or the pool most of our guest use, until they leave if they don't want to pay any extra charges). This we have no problem with. Wishing you great stays wherever you may go to take your holidays.

I can't rate this hotel more highly. This is the 2nd time I've stayed at here and I wouldn't stay any where else on the island. The hotel is clean, quiet, beautiful location and above all great service. It's very close to the airport and also to the beautiful Bottom Bay beach and Crane. I have been coming to Barbados for the past 12yrs and I used to stay on the west coast until I found this Hotel. I love the pool which has sun all day long and a lovely cooling breeze which you don't get from the west coast. I would hire a car if you want to get around the island easily though although the hotel is on the bus route to town if you don't drive. There's not restaurants, clubs, shops on the doorstep but that's what I like about this hotel. It's a place where you can truly relax. I hope more people come and visit and see for themselves how great this hotel is.
