Booked here for Sunday lunch. Despite having plenty of space was jammed into a tiny alcove in what must at one time been a loo because of a frosted window. Whitebait arrived in one of those metal basket things that chips usually come up in. Half had been deep fried twice so there was nothing left. Main course of roast... More

Been here for lunch which was nice but more recently use the bar on nights out. Friendly popular place and serve some decent real ales. There are two or three rooms one of which is mainly a restaurant and outdoor area Large car park at back.

Arrived at 7 o'clock and the restaurant was empty, which is always a bad sign. Started with the Pate and Scallops. Pate was fine but it didn't come with enough bread for the portion provided. The scallops were cooked nicely. However the burnt lemon sauce was so sour it ruined the entire dish. Next course was mussels. The sauce was... More

We visited for lunch with a friend, tempted by the description of this restaurant being in the French Bistro style - It wasn't. French Bistro's tend to be cosy places that serve a distinctive simple style of food that has been cooked well. The FH is a quite large open space with wooden floor and many items with a French... Lunch ..seated and order taken efficiently. However I do not remember ordering a long wait! the couple next to us had run out of conversation and were almost asleep when their mushroom starter arrived. We had a pleasant salmon prawn cone but that took twenty minutes to arrive. wait for the main course. The main was simple but chips awful so... More

I love this place and keep coming back for more. The food is excellent and there are always a good selection of ales. Usually go on a lunch time. Love the lunch menu. Two courses for £11 (including steak, which is always good). Though if we're not that hungry we go for the soup and Sandwich combo for about £5... More

Booked a table for 1pm, got there 10 minutes early, efficient service at first but main courses of roast lamb and of liver & onions took nearly an hour to arrive at the table. The slices of lamb did not seem like cut from a roast, but not sure. The room was very noisy with voices with a few tables... More

We have been 4 years ago but we did not go back as the wait was very long. We arrived today at 19:20 and there was no one at the bar and no one to great us and no staff in the restaurant part. Then after 5 min wait someone turned up and seated us. We ordered just a main... More

We have been here many times over the years, it has a very good atmosphere friendly clientelle and staff but tonight way off the mark from the food and service perspective. The staff did not seem too interested in our comments so I hope the management read this review. One of their real ales was really cloudy as at the... More
