Travelers' Choice
The White Hart Hotel dates back to 1691 and is situated in the "chocolate box" village of Dorchester on Thames in Oxfordshire. The hotel's 29 bedrooms retain all the character of the old coaching inn whilst providing the requirements for today's modern traveller. The restaurant has been awarded an AA Rosette for fresh food dining and offers a delicious a la carte menu as well as a 3 course fixed price Market Menu. Car Parking is free and CCTV monitored. Dorchester on Thames nestles on the banks of the Thames between Henley and Oxford and is an ideal starting point for visits to Oxford City, Blenheim Palace, the Thames Pathway, Bicester Designer Shopping Village, and many Stately Homes and Gardens.

My wife and I had a fantastic couple of days at the White Hart. Nicely refurbished quaint hotel with good food and ale. We had breakfast and dinner and the food on each was delicious. The staff are friendly and helpful and we received amazing service from our waitress Hannah. Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend and would highly recommend.

Rooms clean, staff friendly , food acceptable but not extensive menu. A tale of 6 next to us in the restaurant and when they left we were concerned to hear the waitress , say to her colleague 'the unused glasses and cutlery are just returned to the serving station' which amazed us. Never mind the covid factor, for just simple hygiene I feel they should have been washed! ' but when we questioned her about this she said it was usual practice. There was also a problem with the bill as we were charged for drinks we did not have. We did not notice this till we got home and on telephoning the hotel was told we would refund.

Sunday lunch was brilliant. Very good value for money. Good portion sizes. Everything fresh . Highly recommended. The puddings were delicious . Staff were really helpful and friendly. One thing that I noticed was the portion sizes of the meat was very generous. Perfectly cooked.

Hotel is very friendly, clean and full of character. An excellent base for exploring Oxford, Blenheim Palace and surrounding area. The room was very comfortable and we enjoyed eating in the restaurant. Dorchester is a pretty village and we would happily stay there again.

Good value stay. Lovely large bedroom and big, comfortable bed. Food was very good, both the breakfasts and dinners. We really liked the Abingdon Bridge beer. Very pleasant and efficient waiting staff. Old building with exposed beams, very quirky and full of character in a lovely village. Lots of interesting places to visit nearby. Everywhere in the hotel was very clean. Always managed to find a parking space at the hotel. Couldn't fault it although as a minor point the lighting in our bedroom was quite dim. However, would definitely recommend the White Hart.

This hotel is attractively decorated. The owner/staff are friendly enough. The room was comfortable enough except that the bed felt too hard and therefore I slept very badly. We could hear the people on the next door room talking and showering which was a bit unpleasant. Service in the restaurant was good but the food was not remarkable and didn't feel home made or special in any way. Unfortunately, although I was offered a taste of our over £30 bottle of Chardonnay I didn't notice at first how awful it was and for the first time ever we left most of the bottle un- drunk!! Breakfast was very nice and the service friendly with it and the coffee made up a bit for the sleep deprivation! I left feeling that I'd had a pleasant breakfast but wished I had stayed somewhere else.

We stayed for two nights at the White Hart . We were greeted on arrival by Jonathan who checked us in . He was extremely friendly and very helpful throughout our stay . Our room was clean warm and cosy , The water pressure was excellent for showers and baths . The food we had was excellent chef Shaun and Connor went out of their way to talk to us about our experience. All the food we had was very tasty and and well presented . The bar and restaurant staff were also helpful and friendly We would highly recommend the white Hart Hotel.

Booked this for an overnight staff while travelling back up North. Main reason for picking here was to visit friends, But what a gem. It is a 17th Century Coaching House, which is being refurblished but keeping the original features, The dining room is rather elegant! And the breakfast was very good. When booking I had mentioned I needed a room with a shower. Marie immediately offered us a ground floor room.as she picked up on the fact I had a disability. Fortunately mine isnt a mobility issue, so we took a first floor room, but for anyone with a disability, you wont need to spell it out here, the staff are proactive. We arrived a little early, but the room was ready and we were able to check in straight away. Check out isnt until 11 which is refreshing. All the staff were friendly and helpful. It was a hot day, and a fan was on in the room. There were a couple of issues with the extractor and some of the lights in the bathroom. Not an issue for the night, but we did report it on checking out. And an added bonus, its a location in Midsomer Murders!!!
