We loved our stay in Haltwhistle. Our suite was large, well appointed and comfortable. The staff was super accommodating. We got all three meals there and the dinners were especially wonderful. Portions were huge. We learned quickly to ask for "small" portions.

Stayed here whilst doing the Hadrians cycle way coast to coast. Wonderful accommodation and very helpful staff. Met up with family for an evening meal and had a brilliant time. Thank you for going above and beyond. Will certainly recommend to others staying in the area.

This beautiful old hotel is hard to fault. Standing in the heart of Haltwhistle, which is itself in the heart of Britain, it is a great base from which to explore the area. We were walking Hadrian's Wall, only about 5 miles away, so it was a handy place to stay for two nights. Haltwhistle has several lively pubs and... More

19 riders from Cramlington stayed at this Hotel as part of our annual ride. The way in which we were received, accommodated and catered for was nothing short of astounding. Nothing was too much trouble. Christine and all of her staff were brilliant, the food, (so much of it) was of excellent quality. Many of us are already planning a... More

We cannot rate this hotel highly enough. We stayed for 8 nights in May and were blown away by the welcome and friendliness of Christine and her staff. If there was a fan club, we would certainly join ! The hotel is quirky in a very positive way and was perfect for our group of 10 who were walking Hadrian's... More

I returned to this restaurant, which is spacious and tasteful, because of previous dining experience there. The food is exquisite and the service perfect. There is a wonderful relaxing atmosphere. The standards of hygiene are impeccable and the five star food hygiene rating is well deserved. I have never visited a cleaner hotel. There is a separate room for larger... More

We stayed a couple of nights revisiting the area and now we are rather too old for camping and youth hostels we opted for something more upmarket - a delight. We had a couple of suites over next door laundrette and parked our rather too wide car in adjacent supermarket car park (free!). One night we ate in, the other... More

We made this Hotel our base for walking a part of Hadrian's Wall. The inside of the Hotel has been renovated to a high standard leaving features from the original old building visible. The welcome from the owner David and the manager Christine is very warm and friendly. Our rooms were fabulous. We had the very large room with the... More

Went for a family celebration and we were in a room on our own, which was nice. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, they had even made the bread personalised for the event. The portions were big, food was lovely and for being a set meal there was plenty of choice. I was surprised to see we were the... More

My family have stayed at this hotel twice now. From the moment of booking a reservation on the phone to checking into the hotel, we have always been greeted by friendly staff. David, the proprietor, goes out of his way to look after you. The food is absolutely lovely, the rooms are very, very clean, spacious and very comfortable. I... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This is Haltwhistle’s most historic building. The oldest part of the hotel was a Border Reivers' Pele Tower, dating from the 15th Century. Later it became a Manor House, Excise Office, Coaching Inn, Post Office, Temperance Hotel, Pub and Cafe. In 1997 we completely refurbished the building, finding many archaeological and architectural features - many of which have been included in the presentation of the reborn Hotel. The result – a combination of modern comfort & Tradition. We have a total of 12 bedrooms, all individually designed many with original architectural features. All have private bathrooms and are equipped with TV, radio, direct dial telephones, hospitality trays and hair dryers. We have a secure car park at the rear of the hotel with direct access to the rearSo, there is something for everyone, but most of all a warm welcome with a relaxed style and atmosphere to make you feel at home. ... more   less
