We are fortunate to live within fifteen minutes of this marvellous establishment, so are able to experience most of it's charms on a regular basis. The exception being the guest accommodation. Although, given the quality of real ales, wines, ciders etc. that are on offer, that could be a future possibility! We have dined in both the bar area and... More

From the welcome when I arrived until the time I left, I could not have had a better stay; excellent meal in the restaurant too. I would thoroughly recommend The Rhydspence to anyone. I even ended up wishing my Welsh hosts all the best in the semi-finals of the Euros!

We stopped by for lunch, delighted to see the Rhydspence re-opened ,as it is full of character. many interesting rooms filled with lovely old furniture. We were not disappointed. The Inn is just as it was, with a much needed spring clean, new enthusiastic owners and a successful air about the place as new bedrooms were being add the week... More

Went in a little early for lunch but landlord welcomed us and was more than happy to serve us lunch!! Really lovely food and good service! Lovely old pub with little rooms that you can tuck away in and have quiet drink or lovely garden if you prefer to sit outside!

Lovely historic ambience, a warm welcome and a very pleasant room overlooking lovely scenery. Wish we could have had more time for a drink outside in the delightful garden. The food was excellent. My only disappointment was not having any hot water in the bathroom - we did mention this. The owners were aware of the problem, but thought it... More

My husband and I stayed at the Rhydspence for 3 nights whilst on a walking trip. What a superb place! Lovely comfy bedrooms, totally charming old coaching in. But the best part was the welcome-it really felt as if we were staying with friends for a few days. The owners are engaging and so accomodating-I had very sore feet after... More

We stayed here on the recommendation of hireacanoe.com who are nearby. Fabulous hotel, welcoming and helpful staff couldn't have had a better weekend. From the outside it's difficult to imagine a more attractive old building, and inside the character is retained and enhanced by the service.

We have just stayed here for two nights as recommended by Hireacanoe.com and found it to be a delightful mix of old coaching inn and modern facilities and breakfasts were fantastic. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a break near Hay on Wye. Plus it's close to the base of Hireacanoe.com .

Warm welcome, log fire, good service, menu offered plenty of choice, lunch was very good however we felt £10.00 for Scampi and Chips is a little over priced. Nice to see the pub open again and would recommend. Warm welcome, lovely log fire, good menu with plenty of choice. Lunch was very good but felt £10 for scampi and chips... More

After spending a day in Hay on Wye We entered the hotel had such a warm family welcome, locals were fab. Spent the evening talking to other guests in front of the log fire. Food was amazing. Had a great sleep waking up to birds singing all around, we'll be back
