We had our wedding here on the 13th September 2016. It was a brilliant hot day, but the venue was cool and beautiful. Fantastic place, fantastic staff! Heather was so great and catered for our every need. Beautiful and made our day so special, even when and got tobacco for us!

Attended as part of a works Christmas Dinner where there were probably around 50 of us. First observation was that there was not enough staff to deal with the volume of people onsite which meant lengthy waits at the bar. The same staff served the meal which was average but at least it was hot and a decent amount on...

Not sure where to start.. I came to the hotel last night for one of your Christmas functions with 18 of my friends and to say that the whole evening was a joke is an understatement... It was clear from the start that there were way to many bookings, when we sat down there were the tiniest plates ever with...

Where to start 😂. Maybe the mains coming out 20 mins apart, or the chef walking out during the middle of the mains so one very large table not getting food, or the complete lack of deserts that were paid for. So ridiculous it's worth laughing at.

Trying to find the hotel entrance in the dark was difficult with no lit signs, if I did not know the area I would not of found it, but unfortunately I did. Parking was difficult in the pitch black with no outside lighting and a lot of fallen wet leaves which made the uneven surface of the carpark a hazardous...

Booked in June for one night in a double room, put into only remaining accommodation available which was the self catering cottage. This turned out to be damp, wall and ceiling paper hanging off, jacuzzi bath needed be condemmed, wash basin had a huge crack in it. The blind had broken slats and was generally manky. Cobwebs in abundance. Reason...

Certainly not a normal run of the mill hotel. Just off the sea front set back in some trees but easy enough to find. Every room was different but we had rented 3 and the were all clean and well presented. We didn't use any of the hotels facilities as we were attending a function elsewhere so I can't comment....

Stopped of with friends after a day on the coast for a Sunday Carvery, we came across Alverbank Hotel, I truly am speechless, the building is dated, dirty with broken windows and cobwebs everywhere, after standing at booking table where we were totally ignored for 10 minutes, we were eventually shown into a ballroom, complete with stage, hanging lights and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Alverbank Country House Hotel is a Grade II listed venue in Alverstoke, Hampshire, boasting spectacular views of the Solent and the Isle of Wight (host of the world famous annual Cowes Week event!). Also nearby are some of the finest nautical attractions in British naval history, including Lord Nelson's iconic HMS Victory, and the brand new Mary Rose museum. Originally commissioned as a house in 1842 by J.W. Croker (one of the leading figures in Victorian-era politics), the venue has, over the years, played host to many well-known political figures including the Duke of Wellington and former Prime Minister, Sir Robert Peel, who used to catch the teatime train down from London on a Friday to ensure he arrived in time for dinner! The Alverbank has also hosted royalty; Queen Victoria's second son Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh, resided here whilst attending the Naval College next door at Bay House and, later, Prince Edward, Prince of Wales, found it the perfect environment in which to 'escape' the formalities of Osborne House, just across the Solent. Moving forward to the present day, the venue has many different functions. We serve lunch and dinner 7 days per week, as well as hosting regular live music evenings featuring the very best local acts and tribute artists. We are also a fantastic venue for events - whether it is for a corporate meeting, a birthday party, or the wedding of your dreams, our hard-working and dedicated team will do everything they can to ensure you have a fantastic visit that you will remember for many more years to come! ... more   less
