Detailed Reviews
Came here with my girlfriend for the last night of our trip in Mallorca. The place is in a beautiful location and it is rich with history, so that surely is something worth your while. Driving the road up here was quite the task, takes about 20 minutes from the main road and it is hairpin after hairpin on a road that is actually on good condition.
The hotel is build in the old sanctuary/monastery, so the basic rooms are reeeeally basic: quite small, no air conditioning, no fridge, but clean and neat, if you just need a place to crash for the night.
A fair warning concerning the restaurant, please don't visit. The food was basic at most and the list is pretty much the same as you would expect in a beach cafe, only prepared worse. Also the dining hall has no air-con and it started to be very hot during our short visit.
All in all, beautiful scenery, basic rooms and very sub-standard food.

Just to start im gonna say this hotel is not every one. If you want luxury, youre not gonna get it here. However that sad, sometimes its great to go back to basic and appreciate that you do not need much. The views are amazing, the breakfast is great if you include it and very fresh and the staff very friendly.
Can be pretty difficult to climb the mountain every day especially at night.
If you want a different kind of stay and appreciate the quiet, then this might be for you! At night, go out from the hotel once, the stars are amazing from the hill away from the lights.

Expectations shoot through the roof when you read about the Santuario de Sant Salvador de Felanitx, one of the important sights on Mallorca, and when you see it sitting on the top of a mountain, quite close to the sea and more than 500 meters high. The building sits in a massive setting of former century features: two enormous crosses, each a couple of hundred meters away, each on a separate summit. You have to climb up almost 5 km of a steep and winding road before you eventually get to a huge parking lot, where tourists park during the day, and some locals at night when they eat at the restaurant which is inside the old part of the monastery. The hostegeria, a kind of hostel, is located in a side wing, which was obviously modernised or upgraded in 1959. Old pictures inside the main building show how the complex used to be during black-and-white times. Because it is no real hotel, the reception is located in the cafeteria and therefore open from 8:30 until the late afternoon. This is also where the breakfast buffet is offered, and it is all in classy clean Spanish contemporary design. Absolutely cool vis-à-vis the hundreds of years old stones. When you enter through the main door, you immediately get the feeling of a monastery: An enormous staircase, 2.5 meters wide, stretches across three stories down in one stretch. Each floor has six to seven rooms, all facing East/Southeast, all with sea view – the sea is some 4 km away. The cafeteria can be accessed on the upper floor, where there is also a sitting/meeting room. On the middle floor there is a salon, and on the lower floor a large terrace which stretches along the whole building. The rooms are surprisingly spacious, given the clerical setting, but they are as simple as you would expect. Cream-white ceramics on the floor, apple white walls and arched ceilings, wooden doors and beautiful old windows. The place was refurbished and reopened in spring 2008, so everything was in perfect shape when I visited – apart from the Wifi that did not work. Everything was obviously designed but they did not overdo it so it keeps a balance with the old environment and the low-budget approach. The Santuario has twenty rooms, all double or with two bedrooms, all with simple but nice furniture, a work/desk corner, closet and nice bathrooms with shower or tub and window (!). It’s a pity that the common areas (salon, terrace) are all spread out so that guests don’t mingle naturally. They should keep the cafeteria open (at least the room) to encourage this.
Needless to say that the location is stunning as are the views (when the weather is clear, which is not often the case in that area). You should drive up while the sun sets and another time at night when the fog arrives from the nearby seashore. The humidity provides for a cool, spooky, authentic medieval cloister atmosphere, but it also hijacks the sunrise the following morning – if it’s thick and sticky. If you stay there or not, the monastery is a must-see. It’s not huge nor splendid, but the building and the atmosphere is absolutely great. Note the shirts and pictures of famous bicycling stars in the entrance hall – right next to Mother Mary… Also, the restaurant is fab: Inside the old part of the building with views of the island planes, a local family offers local dishes. Grandma, she must three years older than God, overseas the bar. I have only seen locals from nearby villages eat there (apart form guests of the hostel), and they are cool: One bottle of Cava and one bottle of wine for four people, who will then drive down the breakneck serpentines! Despite the hassle of driving up and down and up again, it is a highly recommended location to discover the Eastern and Southern parts of the island. The staff I met spoke only few words of English or German. Breakfast costs a couple of Euros extra and is quite good. A variety of Spanish sausages, ham, cheese, rolls and toast. The jam and the sweets were all packaged which I think is a drag nowadays. All together: A great location, good accommodation, very good price. The little flaws and a certain lack of atmosphere – compared to similar places – the rating should be a little below the other monastery of the same small private chain the Ermita de la Victoria. But I rounded it up…

We stayed a week at this hotel. Initially it looked amazing when we first got there.
But things got worse and worse as each day went.
Only cleaning we got was that they emptied the trash, and changed towels (one time). We dropped something on the bed, which made it dirty, and we asked them to please change the sheets. What we found was that they just turned the sheets upside down. Like really?!?!
We wanted to throw out some home brought chicken, when we couldn't eat anymore, we wanted to throw out the rest. How ever the trashcan was so small that it didn't fit. So we put it on top of the trash, to make it clear that it had to go out. When we came back, they had emptied out the trash, but put the chicken on the floor, next to the trash. Like really?!?!
Room was full of ants, as they didn't clean under the beds.
We wanted to buy breakfast at the hotel, we did that once, after we saw the price. 16,50 euro for a sandwich with 3 pieces of bad jamon serrano, and 3 pieces of tasteless cheese, a cup of coffee, a tea and a water. Like really?!?!
Only reason to stay at this hotel is the staff, in the bar, and the location. The view is beautiful. Very few things can beat that view. Staff in bar are super nice, but terribly understaffed. No menu of the day, only a la carte.
For sure we will NOT go back to this hotel. Terrible management and even worse cleaning.

We were attracted by the idea of it being a sacred and historic place, with stunning views and in fact it has nice views and the building has beautiful architecture, but the experience at the hotel was absolutely horrible!
When arriving there was nobody at the reception, check-in is done at the cafeteria by very unpleasant waitresses, they write everything down on sheets of paper and pen, they make confusions with the information and are extremely rude, they are unable to apologize for their infinite mistakes… But bad got worse, when I tried to speak with the “manager” of the coffee shop, I was informed that in that place “the employee is always right, not the customer”... She was also very unpleasant and that was the worse experience ever in a hotel!!!
Really, that is a place that doesn't understand anything about hospitality and has zero professionalism.

Response from Can Calco Hotels, Otros at Petit Hotel Hostatgeria Sant Salvador
Responded 4 days ago
We are sorry that our establishment did not meet your expectations. As you say, it is not a hotel, so the service is different. Being a small place, the same staff is responsible for reception and bar duties. This does not justify poor service to customers, the matter will be investigated and a solution will be found. As a general rule, our staff is helpful and friendly, so we are very sorry that you had a bad experience. We will continue working to improve.

We stayed for one night. Breathtaking views. The drive is insane, our designated driver literally cried when we got to the top! 😂
Pros : friendly staff, clean, spacious rooms, location. Location is unreal.
Cons : as many other reviewers have said, the food is bad. It’s canteen food, for €20. They know you’re kinda stuck there, at the top of a mountain so you have no choice where to eat unless you want to do the insane drive in the dark! So they can cook rubbish and charge whatever they want.
Overall: I’d recommend this for one night. Even though the food was insanely bad, the views are an absolute do not miss. They are beyond beautiful. You can see baby mountain goats sunbathing and running around. We had a lightning storm the night we stayed, could see the forks hitting the ocean from where we sat drinking our wine. The monastery itself is stunning. So yeah, make the trip for one night for the experience but if you’re staying longer, you’re going to have to get used to driving up and down the mountain, possibly in the dark which I seriously would not recommend, in order to eat.
My 5 stars is because it’s the most beautiful location ever. Makes up for everything else, if it’s a very short trip.

Amazing location, very clean, excellent prices and food good. Loved the restaurant set in a wine cellar. Evening meal was a set menu with no choice, so if you’re vegetarian you may need to make a specific request. The staff were friendly. A sense of tranquility everywhere. Bedrooms comfortable

This is a review about the hotel near Felanitx, on Mallorca, up a steep 5km winding road, at the old monastery of Sant Salvador. There is another hotel called 'Petit Hotel Hostatgeria La Victoria' that some people seem to have written reviews for this hotel under.
We wanted a hotel away from the Magaluf tourists, and this looked great. The view are simply stunning, the air is fresh, the building is amazing, the staff are friendly, you often have the place to yourself, even in July. Breakfast (8 Euros is wonderful - fresh tortilla, meats, cheeses, newly baked bread etc). All good so far.
The negatives (which is why I gave the place an average score): empty after 6pm ever night - no staff, the place is just deserted. That means no bar, restaurant, nothing (the cafe closes at 6pm, the restaurant, when it opens, closes at about 9.30pm). The rooms have no tv, radio, kettle, just a window with a view and a couple of lamps (en suite though). The road to the hotel is 5km of fairly frightening winding, steep, narrow roads (it gets easier after a few goes).
Another thing that really got to us was the lack of information for guests - no guides, maps, books, information sheets (e.g. taxi numbers, bus schedules etc).
So, if you want peace and quiet, hardly any people, and an amazing location, this is the place for you. But if you want some evening social life that doesn't involve driving 20km each evening, then it isn't...!

We spent three days at Petit Hotel Hostatgeria and were disappointed with the lack of charm and authenticity/originality. The concept of living in a monestary is great, but we didn't get that feeling at all during our stay - exept when driving up and down the mountain. In other words, less modern rooms would suit the place, as would a more authentic interior in general. The food was a great disappointment. We would gladly have paid more for quality; a Spanish menu would work very well with the concept. Maybe it's an attempt to adapt it to the tourists, but personally I prefer local food when travelling. We give it one star for the friendly staff and one for the location.

Dear Barbara, First, thank you so much for your stay in our hotel and for taking the time to share your review regarding your holidays with us. We are very sorry to learn that not all aspects of the holiday met with your expectations. We strive to offer the best possible quality and service, and it is sad to learn that you were not happy with the food and the design of the rooms and common areas of the hotel. The rooms and common areas in Petit Hotel Hostatgeria Sant Salvador have been renovated with the idea to offer our clients a confortable stay, with a concept of mixing an antique building with classic details and with modern facilities. You opinions are very important to us and we will take note of them trying to improve and make our services better in the future. Kind regards Pedro

Delightfully contemporary designed and recently refurbished accommodation, restaurant and cafeteria 'moulded' out of an ancient wing of the 'Monastir'. Our Standard Twin cost 68 Euro a night - what great value - for a bright, comfortable, airy, clean, serviced en suite room with clear views to the sea five kilometres away. We agreed that rather than drive back down the good but twisty hair pinned road after a day visiting the nearby coastal villages and coves we would eat each night in the hotel. What a great decision as, for a prepaid 15 Euro each, we enjoyed a wholesome - but not gourmet - three course buffet dinner with wine and water and a great buffet breakfast the next morning. The staff's English was very limited but they were very friendly and helpful. It would be useful and add to the experience if brochures were available to explain the hotel’s and site’s facilities and amenities. Although busy during the day - including lots of lucra clad cyclists - the 510 metre mountain top monastery site was so peaceful and calm at night and early morning. The stars just seemed to fill the sky and were so bright. The views by day are magnificent in all directions. Something really special.
