I had a very pleasant stay at Mjølfjell, beautiful located by a powerful river. Very friendly staff. Lovely homemade food, also tasty vegetarian. Expect the standard of a former youth hostel, simple rooms, some with shared bathroom. The atmosphere however is very nice and relaxed, with a fireplace, nice common areas, outdoor terrace etc. If you plan to take the train, use a backpack or bag that can be carried on your back, it is a short, but steep trail down to the hotel.

The entire family enjoyed our stay at this beautiful spot. It is a bit peculiar, but in a good way Great coffee, good food and four friendly dogs loved by our kids in particular. Nice hikes just outside the door, and a steep hike to the railway station that will bring you to bergen or the flaams railway We will be back

We stayed in this mountain guest house two nights in summer with our teenage kids. The place is friendly, clean and fairly comfortable. Breakfasts are OK -- not great -- and dinners offer basic, hearty fare (single course, no choice) for hikers who come back hungry from a long day on the mountain. Rooms and bathrooms are basic and clean.

We stayed here for two nights and had a wonderful time. Two Norwegian owners run the place and prepared some typical and tasty Norwegian dinner for us. There is a Dutch hostess who makes sure everybody feels at home. We loved the cosy fireplace. There is a train station a couple minutes walk away (steep path uphill, not possible with suitcases). From here it's only 11 min to Myrdal station. Here we hired bikes to bike down to Flam in 90 minutes and took the famous train uphill. Lovely day!

Beautiful place in the Norwegian mountains. Made some magical walks along the river, through the magnificent mountains, really enjoyed the food of their amazing chef (and also pizzanight, with pizza from the professional woodfired Italian oven), relaxing at the fireplace in the evening, falling asleep with the sound of the river. The owners have a passion for good coffee, they started their own coffee roast company, was really nice to see this process. And you wake up with fantastic coffee! I will be back
