We booked two nights in Grand hotell to get the feeling of the great Norwegian painter, Edward Munch. The place is situated on the harbor of Åsgårdstrand facing the "bridge" that was painted with the three girls on it. We enjoyed the stay in the hotel, the delicious food and the little village visit.

Åsgårdstrand is a hidden gem close to Oslo. The hotel is situated by the marina and the view of the OsloFjord is very beautiful. All the staff was supernice, and the room had a good size , but the bathroom a little bit outdated. The terrace in front of the restaurant is superb for all meals and drinks if the weather allows it. The food served is excellent and the breakfast consists of all you can wish for breakfast. You can goto the beach or you can walk the coastpath in both directions. Highly recommended. We will definetly be back.

Thank you Grand Hotel Åsgårdstrand and Restaurant Manager Michelle for creating the best wedding reception we could have ever imagined. You truly made our big day a special one to remember. Your organisation was exceptional. From our first meeting we felt this was in good hands, and it truly was! Your food & wine was delicious, your colleagues all super kind and fun people dedicated to good service, and you took great care of all our guests staying at the hotel. This combined with your magnificent location & suite really made it unforgettable, and we will always be grateful! Thank you, gracias & takk! Alexander & Laura

Good hotel for a shorter stay. Very easy/good parking, right outside. We enjoyed the breakfast - simple and nice incl BOTH scrambled and fried eggs, lots of fresh bread. Regarding the room - we had a great view from the 4th floor. Anyway, the bed was really soft, causing slight stress on the back. Not much to do with that I guess. You really feel that you NOT are in a city when staying here - both in a good and bad way I guess. If we, ever so politely could mention, the staff being very helpful but still on the "country/bush side" regarding service - meaning slightly on the " slow" side... As a Norwegian, I mention this - because, even I personally is fine and very happy with our stay - you really should jump one step up on the service scale and the "here I am for YOU" service - which hotel service is ALL about - for your International Customer expectations especially. Many thanks.

Pros: The view from the restaurant .Food. Bed was comfortable Cons: View from our window. We can see people passing by. We have to keep the curtains closed the whole time. The smell of the alley was weird. Old and pungent. The bathroom needs to be modernized. I mean if we have to pay 1000nok a night so it should have been worth it.
