We stayed here for 6 nights for a business trip. Nice hotel, friendly staff, clean and good daily room service. We stayed in a premium room, Its a 3star hotel so rooms comfortable but just ok. Bathroom needs upgraded and window blinds not working. A bit tired but fine for a business trip. Fab breakfast spread every morning. Location is amazing on waterfront/harbour. Great walks along the coast. The hotel has lots of seating areas in public spaces which was nice for chilling out. Hotel is good value

Quite nice room but hard to keep cool in the summer and the blinds for the window were not blackout blinds. The room appeared not to have been vacuumed in some time. Overall the hotel was a bit dated. Staff were friendly enough. Nice buffet breakfast. We parked free on street rather than in the over-priced hotel car park. A little over-priced for what it is, but hey this is Norway!

This hotel feels like one step closer to ones grave. The rooms are closer to the vibe of Shining than to a “Grand” hotel. The staff can’t pronounce your name correctly, and they don’t even make an effort. The food served as breakfast is like a lunch cantina at a factory in the middle of Wisconsin. Actually I take that back. Sorry factory in Wisconsin, you didn’t deserve that. The best part of the hotel is the free street parking which is 100 NOk cheaper than the hotel parking, which is further away. Don’t stay here, unless you want a horror movie feeling.

Room was stuffy! Don’t think it had Been used for a while, TV unplugged so it took some time figuring out. No view ( asked, as this was the reason i chose the place- to be mesmerized by the sealine) window to parking lot/ backyard - kitchen. Noise from cars/ kitchen, and the huge rubbish bind that were the highlight of our view- bittles being showed away to late late night! Was too exhausted to complain, and when the staff was informed- one was in denial, the other said oh What a pity. You would think some form of compensation was in order, reduction, offer on a second night, meal in the restaurant! Næ, they were Happy to see me leave. Breakfast was good though! Very good, But You’ll have to twist my arm to come back. Nor worth the Price.

I would give this hotel 3.5. The property itself is nice with some recent upgrades for maintenance. Our room is spacious with sea view #401 Nice comfortable furniture and bed. We even had a working tub in our room. Breakfast was very nice and as expected. Room cleaning was also right on target. The hotel is very close to the beach and nicely located to walk around the community. These are the pluses. Service overall is far off. I can’t decide if this is due to growing pains, just coming into season troubles or what exactly. We booked 3 nights to include the 3 course dinner on our last night. We arrived to breakfast on this day to discover that the restaurant was closed on the night we should have our 3 course dinner. Skipping over this experience in the end our dinner was pub food at the pub/restaurant across the way. We expected a nice dinning experience and in the end we would have been better off with a kabob on the curb. The service and the kitchen was unprepared and overwhelmed. The restaurant was out of even basics and appeared to running out of everything in the 2+ hours we tried to wait it out. Overall, I will give the hotel another try but most definitely will eat somewhere else and not be fooled into a package offer that cannot be delivered, We are most disappointed that no one at the hotel attempted to call us to explain exactly what the situation was. We would have at least had the option to decide for ourself how to handle our options. So disappointed in the utter lack of “guest” service. I know they can do better.

The people in the area and most of the guests are incredebly arrogant and unfriendly people. Its a really small and posh town. And the hotel atmosphere and ambience is effected by it. Its uncomfortable to sit in the restaurant as there is a lot of alcohol and unfriendly people. Really not worth paying 1300 nok per night and be treated like a 3rd class citizen. There were only white norwegians staying here and i did not feel safe at all. That been said. The beds were good. And the seaside views are really good.

We had great Christmas celebrations here! The staff was service minded, the food excellent and the hotel a perfect setting for an unusual Christmas in an unusual year. I must also mention the very good breakfast buffet. We were allowed to keep the room until 8 pm. Much appreciated! I can only copy Arnold Schwarzenegger and say: I will be back.

Your wonderful, accomodating staff is great, and the beds are very comfy, but I could not taste the promised French gourmet in the food and your wine-cellar would benefit from some subtle new wines. A sommelier would be a good addition to the staff and is a great resource for any hotel with aspirations. Our nice waitress also lacked basic skills. We did sleep well though and the breakfast was ok.

We booked two nights in Grand hotell to get the feeling of the great Norwegian painter, Edward Munch. The place is situated on the harbor of Åsgårdstrand facing the "bridge" that was painted with the three girls on it. We enjoyed the stay in the hotel, the delicious food and the little village visit.
