Detailed Reviews
I have wanted to attend a cooking school in Italy for years. My husband and I just returned from a week at Bellorcia, a gorgeous Tuscan villa that is hosted by Tuscookany. To say that we had a wonderful time is an understatement! From the peaceful setting, beautifully decorated rooms, and the most delightful culinary experience ever, to the most incredible cooking school by Chef Laura Giusti and the most endearing and fun villa staff, it was one of the best experiences of our lives. We made friends for life in the kitchen and at the dining table AND we had the most comprehensive hands on cooking lessons you could ever imagine (from pizza to ragu to homemade pasta to panna cotta to minestrone...and the list goes on. Don't hesitate - just sign up for a week at Bellorcia!

A friend of mine recommended Tuscookany to me and Bellorcia in particular. She couldn’t say enough about the area and the incredible experience she had learning from Chef Laura. She was so right on both counts! Val d’Orcia is beautiful and the villa is absolutely wonderful with stunning views! But the fun we had learning from Chef Laura and the incredible crew at the Villa is something we will never forget. Chef Laura was amazing. Her passion for cooking and teaching were evident in everything she did. Not only did we have fun but thanks to Chef Laura’s encouragement we learned a number of recipes we will be brave enough to try at home. Even my reluctant cooking husband loved the experience. :)
Claudia, our house manager was fantastic always going out of her way to make our trip enjoyable. Eno and Antonella, our two wonderful kitchen helpers, always had smiles on their faces and could not have been kinder. All the staff at the villa went out of their way to make us feel at home. We felt like we were part of a family. Speaking of which, we could not have asked for a nicer group of fellow vacationers to share our cooking adventures with.
All I can say is spend a week at Bellorcia. You won’t be sorry!

This was everything and more! Every window view was a picture in itself to begin with. This took our breath away.
This was a bucket list trip with my daughter and it did not disappoint either of us. Our expectations were exceeded. Laura the chef was a beautiful teacher inside and out and conveyed her love of cooking to us all. She was inspirational.
The menus were carefully explained, cooking skills explained and presented to us joyfully.
The Villa was better than the pictures. We were booked in to the twin bed rooms which was perfect. The beds and bedding were comfortable. Large en-suite shower and good bathroom products.
The shared spaces were comfortable and welcoming.
But what really made this trip so memorable? The people. From our guide Claudia, Laura the chef, her kitchen assistants and the housekeepers. All were welcoming and willing to assist in any way.
As to 12 strangers meeting with a shared joy of wine and food - we could not have wished for a better group.
We left with a cookery book, inspiration, boundless memories and a group of new friends

Bellorcia Tuscookany Cooking School. What a magical week. The setting, a country villa in Val d’Orcia, was spectacular. Magnificent vistas and beautiful hilltop towns all around. The cooking school was fabulous. Hands on learning from wonderful Chef Laura and her staff. Chef Laura is a special person - a master chef who can manage 12 amateur cooks effortlessly - but most especially she is a warm and generous person who, along with Claudia, made our stay very special indeed. We learned Tuscan cooking but what really put this trip over the top was the friendships that developed with the other participants. These were very precious times. In all my travels I have not had such a wondrous experience. A five star rating is completely inadequate. This deserves much more. For an experience of a lifetime you must give Bellorcia a try.

Fabulous learning experience. Laura Giusti is a very experienced chef. We attended her Mediterranean cooking class on May 2019 at Casa de Ombuto,
We are proud attending her last cooking class this week.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience at Bellorcia. The villa is incredibly beautiful and the scenery is outstanding. However, it was the cooking experience with Laura that made our vacation so special. Chef Laura's classes were fun and very conprehensive. Her patience was remarkable. Working in the kitchen with the other guests was so much fun. The food we created was fantastic and paired with wonderful wines. We began the week with two of our dear friends, and finished the week with eight new friends from around the world. The friendships that we created with the other guests and the Tuscookany team is what made this vacation so special.

For starters, the place is absolutely stunning. A real è,m postcard. The villa is authentic but very functional with all the comforts that a 5 star can provide. Now the staff, Laura the chef, a real pearl of kindness, funny and extremely professional. she loves her job and shares her passion with us. she is surrounded by equally dedicated and sympathetic staff. Alex, our guide, our help to satisfy all our requests and a person so dedicated to his work. I recommend a week with a spouse or a friend or even alone. A wonderful trip.

Our trip this year was the completion of the "Trilogy of Tuscookany," and it's hard to believe that each villa is more beautiful than the last. We began with Torre del Tartufo in 2015, continued with Ombuto last year (2016), and decided to try Bellorcia (on Laura's recommendation) this year. One of the frequent questions we get is "Which is the best?" My response is always that it is like asking which is your favorite child. While I absolutely loved Torre and Ombuto, the quiet beauty and lovely amenities of Bellorcia were also outstanding. The scenery cannot be described adequately, and the view from each and every window is breathtaking. The bedrooms are lovely and unique, and more modern than the other two villas--relatively speaking. The location can't be beat--you are 20 minutes from Pienza, a charming town that we visited three times, and Montepuciano is about 35 minutes away. One of the real pluses of the villa is the lovely living room with fireplace, which became a regular gathering place for our group of 12. Still, each villa has its own charms. You'll not be disappointed with any choice you make.
The reason we've come back three years in a row, though, is our love of cooking--and of meeting new friends and "classmates" who have the same passion that we do. We've also immensely enjoyed the chefs (especially Laura Giusti, who taught both Mediterranean program last year at Ombuto and Italian this year at Bellorcia) and the staff--Alex was our very competent, caring, and generous host who made sure we all felt pampered and spoiled. We laughed, we cooked our hearts out, and we went on a lovely excursion to an olive farm, cheese farm, and winery. By the end of the week, we were all friends who hated to say goodbye.
Thank you, Laura, Alex, Carmella, Antoinella and all of the other staff who took such good care of us. Ciao until we meet again!

Dear Sue, What a pleasure to have you back for the third time - now you have visited all three our villas. Its not easy to choose which villa to go to and you made a wise decision to visit all three and I am pleased you liked them all. So you need to come back and cook with Paola Baccetti at the Italian cookery course at Casa Ombuto and Alice Cornacchini at the Mediterranean cookery course at Casa Ombuto then you will have met all our chefs too! Happy cooking!

Bellorcia is a little slice of Heaven on Earth. I had high expectations and they were not only met but exceeded!!! The villa is BEAUTIFUL with picturesque views everywhere you look. The food was FABULOUS and chef Laura and Alex made you feel at home and like part of the family! You can tell they both love what they do. The cooking classes were fun and informative. The week flew by..... money well spent. This was a trip I will treasure for a lifetime. I can not wait to return.

Hello,
We have a Italian cookery course at Bellorcia course commencing 3-10 October 2020. If this is too tight for you, you could consider the Italian cookery course at Torre del Tartufo running from 4-11 October 2020. You can get close to both villas by train and from there take a cab to the villa. In terms of travel, your best bet is to fly into Florence this is the closest airport(1 hour and 15 minutes). If you can get good deals to either Pisa (2 hours and 15 minutes) or for that matter Rome (3 hours), this could also work. We look forward to welcoming you to Tuscany!
If you are doing the cooking class solely, there is no need to rent a car. But if you are going to spend some time in Rome, other parts of Italy after the week is over, I would most definitely rent a vehicle.
There is one free day which we went into the small villages, and we thoroughly enjoyed because the bulk of tourists go to Florence. And I mean BULK!
A taxi from the airport to Bellorcia is fine, but otherwise, it is NOT easy to get. I hope this helps, and it’s not too late.
We recommend car hire. You are more flexible if you have a car you have plenty of free time to explore the area. We can help you with suggestions as there are many places with great historical value and beauty in the vicinity. The villa is about a 15 minute drive from the closest city, so quite remote. Your best bet is to rent a car at the airport.
Alternatively you can take the train to Chuisi and we can book a taxi for you to take you to the villa. The cost is around € 45. If you need a car for other side trips the Guest Relations Manager can book this for you when you are at the villa.
The hot tub takes about 6 persons at a time I think.
Your dietary request is no problem – we frequently have guests with allergies on the course and the chefs can adapt the menu accordingly to avoid you eating nuts, shellfish and fruit. However if your allergies are very severe that there cannot be any small trace of nuts, shellfish or fruit in the kitchen preparing food then we advise you not to join which would be very unfortunate. Hopefully this answers your questions adequately.
I am sorry it has take me so long to answer. It is difficult for me to give you a suggestion which location to choose.  I love all the villas and they all  have a special charm:  Casa Ombuto is smaller, more quaint and has a serene and mystical atmosphere.  Torre del Tartufo and Bellorcia are both a lot grander with wide open spaces and the views are majestic. Bellorcia is in the famous Val d’Orcia and is superbly decorated.  They are all wonderful and all I can suggest is that you look at the CV’s of the chefs and their sample menus.  All communal kitchens are spectacular.
