This is a lovely old castle with a rich 800+ year history. Just off of 429 and easy to reach, the first building that greets you is a small store selling wines, vin santo, olive oils, ceramics and other odds and ends. It also offers wine tastings. We tasted both wines and olive oils, and a little grappa, before making... More

We stayed at this B&B and enjoyed every moment of it. It is a old monastery, beautiful story, exquisite Chianti Classico as well as Chianti Reserva. The wine tour and tasting are fine well. The gardens are peaceful, grapes hanging overhead for the picking. Make sure you visit the restaurant!

We rented an apartment in this lovely old monastery/winery. The apartment was really big for the 5 of us, not that we're complaining. Everyone was welcoming even though we came in rather late and had no way of contacting them in time. The grounds and pool are really pretty and the breakfast is also pretty good. If you're in a... It was with great anticipation that we left Florence for the Chianti region of Tuscany and our stay at Badia did Coltibuono. After all its not often one had the chance to stay at a thousand year old abbey and one featuring one of the best wineries in the Tuscan region. To a large degree we were not disappointed. Our... Stayed 3 nights at the apartment. Three bed rooms, a large living room, two bathrooms and a kitchen. This is not a usual hotel-apartment type of place, but agriturisumo. If you are aware of this, you will enjoy the place. You will feel like you are actually a resident. Breakfast buffet is delicious - fresh fruit, homemade bread, cheese, ham,... More

We signed up on line and took a tour with tasting for 15E. The tour is very interesting and you see the restored facilities and beautiful gardens. The abbey was built in 1051 and the monks farmed the grapes until forced out by Napoleon in the 1800s. The estate was bough by a wealthy family and gradually evolved into the... More

Fancy a time-machine going back to centuries ago? Badia a Coltibuono can give you a feeling of staying at casa in the old days. The view to the garden is spectacular. The common rooms and breakfast area are just fabulous. We have a vintage-feel bedroom and a super-spacious bathroom. One should not miss the guided winery tour to the Abbey.... More

It is a very nice location, no doubt. The bed was excellent. Breakfast was good. However the badroom was substandard with a damaged bath and an old shower. If agriturismo means grandma's old stuff is good enough, a fridge does not look "cool", on the countryside there's no need for a safe and no wifi in the room, Badia is... More

Superb location and excellent accommodation. The view from the balcony over the main courtyard to the forest beyond was idyllic. There is definitely something about the place that makes all the stresses and strains of 'real life' disappear. The apartment was well furnished (although a small table in the lounge would have been useful). Two big double bedrooms and a... More

Glad to had visited the charming property which is a historic Abbey. We enjoyed the couple of days with the excellent cellar&wine tour, decent restaurant, and warm atmosphere by the staff and owner. The garden worth an hour of visit. Location cannot be better as it is on the mid-way between Fienze and Siena. Price was reasonable. There was no... More
