This is the perfect place to stay in the middle of Italian Chianti country. A true castle with a wonderful staff in a quite setting. Don't miss the sunsets from the top of the tower. Enjoyed the meals in their restaurant. They also have cooking classes. We especially loved enjoying a bottle of their wine in front of their fireplace... More

Because of a foul up in our room assignment we were upgraded to the suite at the top of the tower. It is a large, beautiful set of rooms with a jacussi and small fridge with lovely views of the surounding countryside. If you cannot manage to carry your bags up about 80 stairs this room is not for you.... More

4 story tower room is a unique and private experience, assuming you can take the stairs. Breakfast is above average but dinner is a little redundant with the same menu every day. Customer service is perfect but it is a little hard to find and rough on the shocks. Would I do it again?? Hell yes

We stayed here for the first time 8 years ago, and although expensive at the time ... "I was staying at a Castle in Tuscany :-)”!!! The service was superb back then, unfortunately, the same cannot be said for my most recent stay; minimal effort was made by the reception staff, when you could get their attention, and we saw... I can see how some other reviewers were frustrated by this Hotel. It is one of those places that grows on you with its charm. The staff Silvia, Eleonora, Gurprit to name but a few, are great, with little or no guidance from the owners who live in Florence, and who do not really care about the buisiness, work their... More

If you are looking for a romantic experience in a truly old castle that was magnificently restored and "upgraded" for modern life (I mean with electricity, water, etc.) this is the place to go. If you need a 4-star service, with uninterrupted internet access, etc. this is not a place for you. The staff - although very limited in number... More

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a trip to Tuscany and had a wonderful time. The castle is in a quiet location in the countryside, with amazing views. It is not within walking distance of Gaiole, so you definitely need a car to get around. Our room was large and air conditioning was good. The staff were... More

This lovely castle built in the 11th century was very cool to visit. We stayed in one of the apartments that also had an old feel but all the modern consciences. The staff was warm and friendly and we loved the wine tasting in the dungeon. Great place to stay for a couple or as a family. The ride to... More

We stayed for 4 nights in two apartments, Bosso and Misto, for my family of 6. Bosso was on the upper level and had 2 queens, one in each bedroom. Misto, which was downstairs from Bosso, had one bedroom with a queen, and one bedroom with 3 twins. I want to say something nice about this hotel, so I guess... More

A smashing spot at the end of a long steep gravel drive about 6km south of Gaiole. Over a week we stayed in three rooms within the castle - mainly due to faulty air con - all similar size and facilities which were fine but air con needs investment!! Fantastic views from ground level as well as top of tower... More
