#1 of 14 B&Bs / Inns in Barberino Val d'Elsa
Stone house built on top of a hill with a marvelous view over the Chianti hills. Easily reachable (only 4.5 Km from the exit Barberino on the main road connection between Florence and Siena). Many typical Tuscan Restaurants near by. We can arrange wine tasting and visit to the cellars of different farms. The central location of our property will allow you not only to visit Florence, Siena and San Gimignano (which are only 30 minute away by car) but also to visit Pisa and Lucca - on the north of Tuscany - and Montalcino, Pienza and Montepulciano - on the south of Tuscany - Breakfast: Self catering in the room. Equipment and some breakfast items (Milk, tea, coffee, mineral water, biscuits, jam, electric kettle, microwave and silent fridge )are already provided in the rooms FREE of charge. This works well for our guests and provides flexibility for our customers, allowing them to prepare tea and coffee and breakfast at any time. Also guests can take their breakfast tray in the garden.

We had an unforgettable stay at Torre di Ponzano and can recommend it warmly to all guests looking for authentic Tuscany experience! The place (or, rather, a 1000 year old stone tower) is the next thing close to paradise and is located in the Chianti area surrounded by green hills, vineyards and olive trees, as well as 20- 30 minutes drive from Florence, Siena, San Gimignano. The stone house is built on top of a hill with a marvelous view over the Chianti hills... a postcard of Tuscany! The very charming details of the house interior include ancient furniture pieces, thick walls and terracotta flooring. What made the stay even more memorable were Alba & Sonny - the most gracious, friendly and generous hosts one could hope for! They were kind, sincere, helpful and friendly so you really felt at home immediately. We were greeted warmly every day with offers to help with directions, ideas for dinner (Sonny recommended a typical Tuscan restaurant near by with spectacular steaks!), things to see and even a warm apple pie and a glass of red wine to complete already a perfect day!Thank you & looking forward very much to our next visit! Spent 4 nights here with my girlfriend. It was an amazing experience! I will never forget eating a homemade salad in the garden, looking at the sunset with a wondeful view of Chianti and the owner Andrew playing the piano in the background. Also, jumping in the pool first thing in the morning is the best start to a day of wine tasting one can wish for. Andrew and Alba are great people and they did everything to make our stay perfect. One small warning: if you want anonymity and no social interactions, this is not the place for you. It is rather small and the owners know everybody by name and they love to hear about your day and tell intresting stories about the area.

I was so delighted to come back to see dear Andrew and Alba after 9 years. The place remains a gem in the center of Tuscany. Situated in a perfect location, this is a perfect spot for trips to Firenze, Sienna, San Gimignano, Greve, Castellina etc. The owners became best of friends with their kindness, hospitality and generosity. This is although a bit rigged for some people but the place built on an ancient (1400 years old) tower, surrounded by olive trees and an amazing view is inspiring. Higly recommended for every explorer of Tuscany who seek to be a part of this beautiful piece of country in this world.

We had a lovely stay here. We had a lovely welcome and a drink on arrival. Sonny and Alba were excellent hosts and nothing was too much trouble. Alba even found some sting relief cream for our daughter (14). We stayed in the tower! This was fun, quirky and spacious. The kitchen was very well equipped (although we could have liked a T - Towel!) The main bedroom was very large and cool (with fan and two windows ) The second room was quite small but fine - although this did get very hot (August) as there is only one small window. The view is beautiful from the gardens and the pool is very clean and quiet. An additional bonus for us was finding that we had a music connection with Sonny and enjoyed an hour or so playing his piano and exchanging musical stories - thank you Sonny. We are very happy to recommend this accommodation and would be very happy to stay here again.

We were recommended by friends to stay here and we want to pay that recommendation forward. This was our first time in Tuscany and we couldn't be more happy about the location and the stay at this picture perfect olive grove. Every morning we would get up, pop down to the local convenience store for some yoghurt, cheese and veggies for breakfast, spend a few hours by the pool with a book or simply look out over the mesmerizing Tuscan landscape, and at the peak of the day sit down in the cool reception area and have a chat with the oh so friendly owners Sonny and Alba. Because everything is so close we could within less than one hour go from the pool, to family run rural restaurants, or to experiencing the tide of history in Florence, Siena, or San Gimignano. And because of Sonny and Alba know the ares inside out and have friends in everry town we were not short of some of the best dining experiences in the area. We are not into fancy dining, but we love good and authentic food and we were always very happy about the recommendations they gave us. At first we were a bit concerned about staying in the middle of Tuscany, far away from the ocean during the hottest time of the year, however, after less than 2 hrs drive we found ourselves on the more quiet beaches (and free!) of Tuscany without the bustling tourist towns. At the end of the day though, we realised that we were perfectly happy by the extremely well kept pool at the hotel which we had to ourselves most of the time. As a gay couple, something that we always want to make sure when we stay at small personal hotels is that the owners are LGBT friendly and that we can feel safe and well treated. Sonny and Alba made us feel very welcome! THANK YOU Sonny and Alba for being such wonderful people and for making our week in Tuscany so fantastic. We will come back and will recommend your place to our friends.
