We stayed in the Hotel Palazzo Failla, which is an old family run hotel. The hotel used to be the family home of the hotel owner, a lovely old gentleman. The rooms were amazing. We stayed in the blue room, which was very clean, spacious and had a lovely balcony. Staff were friendly and the breakfast was lovely. We also...

We very much enjoyed our stay in this grand old family owned palazzo. We were in the green room, originally the drawing room. Lovely to lie I bed and look up at the beautifully painted ceiling Younger family members and staff spoke good English and were most helpful. Signor Failla ferried us downtown and advised us on eating places., which...

This is the second itme I stay there and it willnot be the last. The family Failla is personally involved in their property and give you always a very warm and sincere welcome. The palazzo was used by their family now converted in a lovely cosy homely hotel. Small quaint big rooms with very high ceilings and all spotless.

We spent one night at this beautiful and intimate hotel along with another couple. We were all delighted with the splendor of our rooms. The bedding and frescoes, along with the quality furnishings made this an unforgettable experience for all of us. The owners/employees were all so gracious and accommodating - we highly recommend spending at least a night here...

We stayed in the annexe to the hotel which is just opposite the main hotel down a small alley, actually above the restaurant for the hotel. Our room was large and spacious and the bathroom was large and well fitted with a super shower and plenty of space for personal items. There was a pleasant terrace outside with table and...

Generations ago, Hotel Palazzo Failla was a grand home in Modica. The same family owns the property which has been converted to a beautiful hotel in the upper part of the town. The spacious rooms retained their antique character, full of interesting furniture and original tiles. Ceiling are typically high and beautifully painted. Bathrooms are updated. The staff was very...

A gem of a place in the heart of Modica with high ceilinged rooms, still in use baroque furnishings and a quiet elegance and charm that captured our hearts. We only regret that we had but one night in this lovely old place. Our Italian language skills are rudimentary , so it did help that Laura, one of the staff,...

Fantastic pictures of this hotel in the nice baroque town of Modica.....but very disappointed by the room, absolutely terrible lightning, the bathroom extremely small, terrible lighting above the little sink, impossible to make up in the bathroom, stagnating water in the sink there every time we used it. Window drapes grey though obviously they were initially white. Not extremely clean...

Enchanting place to stay. Full of character, history and atmosphere. If you want a taste of the grand old life, it's a must. The staff couldn't be more helpful and the hotel's restaurant serves some of the best food I've eaten anywhere in the world. A real treat.

Stayed there recently for two nights. Good (if somewhat dark) single room. Nice attentive staff and good tv - sky news for English speakers was very welcome. Excellent breakfast spread. The dining room was closed both evenings but there is an excellent (associated) restaurant 100 m away.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Palazzo Failla Hotel is a four star hotel, located in a beautiful XVIII century building, not an unusual example in Modica indeed, which has been perfectly restored thanks to local skilled craftsmen. The Faillas, showing the typical hospitality of their land, decided to open their house to their guests. The moment you enter, you can feel a fascinating atmosphere given by the light scent of the ancient stone walls and the pitch stone floor, typical of this area. The exclusive furniture and refined decorations will give the final touch to an unforgettable stay. Palazzo Failla Hotel is located in Modica Alta, in Via Blandini, near two of the most beautiful architectural examples in Modica, such as St. George's Cathedral and the Earls' Castle. It's an ideal starting point to visit both Modica and the whole area ... more   less
