We very much enjoyed our stay at this country house. The room was comfortable, with a large bathroom. Breakfast had lots of choices, and the food was delicious. Paolo recommended excellent restaurants, places to visits, and was very accommodating. Highly recommended - and if you are up for the climb check out the cave below the house!

Our recent family holiday at Casa al Castello was absolutely superb! We do not have anything negative to say about the facilities, where it is located or the service received whilst we were there from the owners and managers of the facility. Our group was quite large - eighteen in total. The facility coped brilliantly! Casa al Castello provided us...

I stayed in this lovely and passionately well cared villa in August 2014 the first time. There is already my first review of this enthusiast visit in Tripadvisor. I decided to come again in Sicily this summer, at the beginning of August. I must confess that I truly love this place: tastes, colors, smells, sounds.. the air, the hot sun...

This is truly in the middle of no where, no people, no houses, no animals and almost no roads. It is hard to explain the location except to say 30-40 minutes from anywhere. Not a villa, not an agriturismo but a 6 bedroom facility that is rented weekly usually with a cook and a house manager.Cooking lessons are available. Small...

The closest restaurants/pizzeria/shops are at a distance of 5 km. No animals? Very funny! There are cows and horses everywhere and in the valley below us there are hundreds of animals. 30/40 minutes from anywhere...on foot?!? Maybe in the USA it's different but here in the countryside, above all in an archaeological area, it's not possible to have a mall...

Room is very good, modern and clean, appropriately furnished, daily cleaing and great service, good a/c and minibar. Hotel hosts - Paolo and his mother - were very friendly and amiable. Loved this place so much! Appreciate so much their hospitality and things...

Not much else to say except AMAZING! Well actually there is! This was definitely a highlight of the trip. We booked this place because of the great reviews and the spectacular view. We arrived just after lunch and were greeted by Paolo who was super friendly. He showed us to our room and around the property explaining the history of the...

I had a great stay at this beautiful estate - it was a very nice beginning of my Sicily trip, and I really enjoyed the host family’s warm hospitality, beautiful scenery and delicious food. I wish I could have stayed longer.

The casa is absolutely stunning: great views, spotlessly clean rooms and the breakfast is out of this world! Delicious and fresh home made pastries by Paolo's mother and plenty of savory bites as well. When they heard I was a vegetarian, they made beautiful frittatas and the best boiled eggs (with home made tomato and capers sauce) we've ever had....

This place is paradise. Everything is simply perfect. The rooms are clean, modern and provided with all needed facilities. Airconditioning, towels for the pool, a minibar, even a bottle of wine and some complementary cookies are waiting for you. We were welcomed by Paolo, the owner and host of the property. He takes his time to show you around, to...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
"Casa al Castello" is a charming and comfortable guest house, located in the famous area of Val di Noto, cradle of the late-baroque art and architecture, more exactly in the land of Modica, city part of the UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE LIST. The house lies on a rocky spur over the suggestive rupestral construction of so-called "Castello" ("THE CASTLE"), in a such singular as exclusive position. The building overlooks the well-known Cava d'Ispica, a long rocky valley (for about 13 Km) that preserves numberless archaeological testimonies and contains important species of the Mediterranean flora and fauna (it's an area SCI: SITE OF COMMUNITY IMPORTANCE). The location of our house allows to easily reach the golden beaches of Pozzallo, Sampieri, S. Lorenzo, Cala Mosche, as well as the natural oisis of Vendicari and also the Southern extremity of Sicily with its sea town of Portopalo of Capo Passero (at a distance of about 15-35 Km). From here it's also easy to reach the charming baroque-cities of Ragusa, Scicli and Noto (at about 15-30 Km). The house, at its origin, residence for the sharecroppers, has been restored using natural construction materials, typical for this zone, as dry-stone and wood; now it includes six comfortable rooms, each of them with private entrance and bathroom, air conditioning and all connected to the large terrace from where you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view over the entire cave. Our swimming-pool will refresh your stay during the hottest summer days, assuring you in the same time relaxation and well-being. You can also enjoy with fee the inviting outdoor Hot Tub, located on a rocky spur overlooking the valley: just a few meters of rock will separate you from the cliff. Breakfast is served in the breakfast room or in the nice garden. Service food available provided by our catering partner (dinner only and on reservation the very morning only). The nearest restaurants and pizzerias are located at a distance of about 5 Km from our guest house as well as a shopping center where you can find a supermarket and other different shops. The atmosphere of peace and innate calm that dominates this charming place, embedded in the middle of this spectacular nature exactly like a pearl of rare beauty, will revive and guide you, at the same time, to discover again the lost meaning by now of the concept of slow-living. ... more   less
