We stayed at Pefkakia Park Guesthouse for 49 nights. John and his mother Maria were very gracious hosts who made our stay perfect. We stayed on the third floor of a newly renovated room with an unobstructed view of the port. We normally find a place when we arrive, but in early spring, when the renovations were done, John sent us a video of the room and it did not disappoint.

Everything in the room worked perfectly. The air conditioner was quiet. There was a queen sized bed which was hard enough to support one's back. The cleaning staff came to clean every day. Sheets and towels were changed frequently.. The shower was excellent: hot and powerful.

We had a coffee pot to heat up water for instant coffee. We had coffee, juice, and cut up fruit with a biscotti for breakfast. Our hosts also had free coffee and cake in the downstairs sitting room.

The guesthouse is a half mile walk to the port and the center of Ermoupoli. Being in a large town, one would expect a lot of noise but this was not the case.

John gave us great tips on the beaches to go to and the upcoming events. One night we left our key in the room and had to ring the bell to be let in. Maria has a room in the back and was kind enough to let us in at 12:30 a.m.

If you are looking for a family run place where you are treated like family, this is your place. Because we were there for 49 days, we got a good rate in the room.

The only tricky thing was the parking. The parking gets challenging in the summer as you must park on the street and in some cases, on the sidewalk. If you don't rent a car or motorcycle or scooter, John will offer to take you to the airport or port.

When we left, John presented us with some handmade pottery which are wonderful mementos of our glorious stay on Syros.

The location was awesome, just 5-10 min away from the centre and you can see the port from the hotel while enjoying some refreshment. Everything was clean and the lady was extremely polite and helpful.
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel and I'll definitely visit again when I get the chance! 😁

First class hospitality, so clean tidy and friendly, serves amazing coffee and just a short walk to town. Central for everything.
Picked us up at port and dropped us off again very early in the morning, the owner makes time for everyone and is great to talk to.

We had not booked a room and Andonis was at the port he showed us his picture board and we thought the rooms looked quite nice so decided to have a look. Maria was there to greet us.We stayed at the Pefkakia for 3 nights. The rooms are nicely decorated and clean. There is a large kitchen area where guests can have coffee and homemade cookies. Maria is always on hand to chat and advise. The area is very quiet in a semi residential area.

Arrived from Mykonos late afternoon and was picked up from the port by Maria's husband. Greeted by Maria who insisted on helping with my luggage up to my first floor room. they live next door and she invites you to call around if you need anything at all.
The room was a double. Well furnished with all I'd need. A bit of a tight fit walking around the bed but manageable. Fridge, TV, air con and hairdryer provided. Small but decent bathroom. Disposable slippers supplied (I may be easily pleased but really appreciate a little touch like that) Plenty of storage and power sockets. The bed was very comfortable. Extremely clean and good towels provided.
The balcony had a sea view although the immediate outlook wasn't that enticing. There's a drying line/legs for washing. The views from up on the roof terrace were fantastic though.
Downstairs there's a kitchen/dining area. You're welcome to prepare food/drinks there and also laundry facilities. Maria provides tea/coffee cake/biscuits which you can just help yourself to.
The hotel is situated up the hill so be prepared for steepish steps down to town (and back up!) They are easy enough though unless you have walking difficulties. I enjoyed the walk. There's a little parkland space across the road and a small shop in case you want to buy water/snacks. The area is residential but not noisy.
Maria is a charming host. She's very friendly, full of information and happy to chat.
On my last day I was leaving the island on an evening ferry. I was able to leave my luggage safely and spend the day out and about. I was driven back down to port in plenty of time.
This is a lovely place to stay if you don't mind bring up above (I specifically wanted to experience that) and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying at Pefkakia Park.

The guesthouse is very quiet, clean and comfortable. We were in the bigger room and loved it. High ceilings, beautiful colours and a small balcony overlooking the park. It was very quiet both at night and in early morning. The veranda overlooking the harbour was really nice, but windy! Be aware - even if it is very short to walk down to the city centre, it is very steep stairs leading to the guesthouse. If you have a problem with your feet (as I do) it can be quite taxing. It wouldn't put me off staying again though. Overall - great stay! Thank you.

We left to Syros, due to a sick family member, from Mykonos to Syros.Booked a hotel in no time, without being informed or so.Two minutes after the booking the lady of the hotel (Maria) phoned us to say they would pick us up.There was no need for that as we had the car and had to rush of to the hospital.
When we arrived her husband was there anyway ,to show us the way...What a welcome!!!!!
We thought we had to stay one night, instead we had to stay 12!!
Maria did everything she could to make as stay all this nights ,as she had other bookings, and indeed we didn't have to move. The hotel is located in a very quiet and pleasant neighbourhood,5minutes walkdistance from the port. Her place is very very clean, decorated with very good taste, and the beds were the best,I haven't slept that good and much I think since I was born.
There is a central location -kitchen,wher you can make your own drinks or food, and the athmosphere is very relaxt and welcomming. We could not have been more lucky to have discovered this place, and will go back there again and again when in Syros. Our New Home in Syros.
Thank you sooo much Maria, you are a special lady, and I am very happy to have met you.
Many greatings from Elsa and Kosta.
