Hotel was a 10min walk from the town centre and really handy for the ferry port. The room we had was on the first floor with a balcony overlooking the sea. The room itself had a 4 poster bed and an ornate high ceiling. The only thing that could have been better were the breakfasts although these were served on a great terrace overlooking the sea
This could go either way. We loved it! The place is old, and that implies certain disadvantages. Small elevators, weird levels, some less interesting rooms in a second building and dated furniture in the public rooms. But we had a beautiful, modern room with great linens and a small sitting room with a lovely terrace overlooking the local swimming pier. Breakfast was included, and though a little sparse, it was served on a beautiful rooftop terrace. ( there is no reason to charge extra for a special coffee ) We borrowed beach towels and walked down to the quay every morning and were greeted by local ladies who swim every day. The water was crystal clear and we tanned and swam and watched the ferries coming in and out of the port. A true Greek holiday.
We where given a room at the second building, since we are a family of four and aparently there are no family rooms at the main building. At the beginning I was a bit sceptical, but when I saw it, the room was massive, with a very high ceiling, very big bathroom and closet. Very, very clean. The owners were very friendy, trying to show us the area so we get an idea of where we are and what to do. They knew that we where coming in by boat, and even called us upfront to check if we where ok when they knew that there was a delay of the ferry. Breakfast is served on a veranda on the second floor overlooking the sea and the harbour bay. Must be one of the most amazing views I have seen. The hotel is situated up the hill from the town center so it is a very easy walk to and from the square, and a short taxi drive to the different beaches of the island. An overall excellent experience, and would really like to thank everyone at the hotel for their hospitality and willingness in everything. …
Although the building is placed in the most beautiful area of Syros and is an old and traditional mansion they have not invest anything during the last decade. We live in 2019 and the bathroom, mattress, doors, windows and frames are in 1980 no Mosquito nets and when asked for device the looked me as an Arian. the breakfast was poor with many flies.Have to mention that when talking on the phone asking for a better price since we were willing to pay in advance he named me grumpy for this reason.
Excellent location and very friendly service. The main building is said to be renovated. We had a family room which was in another building. This was not renovated and it definitely created the need to go out of the room the soonest possible. The bathroom and toilet were old but also the furniture in the main room (not renovated thus not in a good condition) We ended up using the room to have a quick shower and rush out of the room. Excellent veranda for breakfast (not good breakfast, just the veranda).
