The Meropi hotel is divided into 3 parts the old rooms the renewed and the rooms with swimup. We lay in the old rooms whose windows could not be locked, in the bathroom there was no shower curtain so everything got wet when taking a shower. The bathtub was equipped with silk left dirty sprayers so best not to take a bath. The rooms were not cleaned every day, the sheets changed every 3 days and for toilet paper we sometimes had to check the cleaning women. The drinks at the bar were poured into plastic cups if you took them to the pool you did get a glass at the bar itself. Drinks for more than 3 people were not taken and since we were 6 people we had to go get our drinks in 2 times. The food was good sometimes lukewarm or cold. In the local shop we bought various products against the mosquitoes that were everywhere both in the restaurants and in the bedrooms. For air conditioning there was 9 euros per day to be paid which was on the high side. The rooms we were assigned were all reserved by Corendon for an upgrade had to be paid extra so we were in outdated rooms.

I've never been better.
Booked superior suite with private pool, spectacular
We really enjoyed this holiday
Personal Recommendation to choose a solution with private pool, spent 1600€ in 2 adults with 2 children in all inclusive
Excellent quality restaurant, not a starred but a lot of variety of first courses, main courses, side dishes, fruit and desserts ..
Structure with water park, fun for children for a few hours a day
Hotel 5 minutes from the streets of downtown Malia, especially suitable for young people..
Would stay again tomorrow

Meropi hotel is actually difficult to define. They are described as a 4 star accommodation. Based on our apartment it is absolutely not. Then it is more likely a 2-star location. The apartments are old-fashioned and really need renovation. For the cleaning teams there is little to gain from it anymore, old age and accommodation are everything. They have to mop with the tap open. Out of the 10 days, 6 days we had problems with cockroaches that came in through all the cracks and holes. (there are many cockroaches in Crete). After reporting this twice, the problem was resolved by pest control. Our neighbors had no problems whatsoever. I had to shower on my knees to avoid causing a water ballet in the bathroom. There is no shower curtain or anything like that. Renting an air conditioner costs €9 per day at the apartments! The location itself is worth around 4 stars in terms of design, cleanliness and service. The food is also excellent. More towards 3 stars. The swimming pools and entertainment for children are really great. We spent the last day in a superior room with private pool and this is definitely worth 4 or maybe even 5 stars. But those rooms are less attractive for small children. But let's be honest, those rooms are great. All in all, it is difficult to give Meropi a number of stars. It alternates between 2 and 4 stars. Advice for Meropi, renovate the apartments located next to the swimming pools and you may really achieve 4 stars for the entire complex.

This is supposed to be a 4 star all inclusive hotel. My opinion 4 star tops!

Having to pay for aircon €7 per day and safety deposit box €3 per day. However if you book with booking.com they allegedly include aircon in the price?!?

A choice of ouzo, raki and some other fire water and the smallest glass of beer are the only “all inclusive” alcoholic drinks. Coffee only available at breakfast and between 1500 and 1700 hrs ) BUT you can HIRE a kettle!!!
Water via the self serve machine available in small plastic or glass receptacles. Not available in bottles. You can have what you want if you are willing to part with more cash.

The food is very very average, breakfast the same each day and for fussier eaters like myself was very limited and geared more towards our European counterparts.

Lots of German guests who were quite intimidating, staring at and through you, despite trying to thaw this by smiling at them, it did not alter their mannerisms. Another English couple arriving 5 days after us experienced the same frosty intimidating behaviours.

We were given a “superior room” which was not that superior. It was very compact and balconies not shared but not really private and can touch next door if you so wished.

The place was exceptionally clean and all the cleaning staff very pleasant. They worked incredibly hard. As did the table clearance staff. The dining tables were always cleared quickly and cleaned down and relaid quickly.

Don’t be hoodwinked into the massage facilities.. we were and although very good was over priced. Just be aware they prey on the new comers around the pool.

A holiday that should have been all inclusive we ended up spending around €1,000 on top. If we had children and on a tight budget it would have been totally ruined.

The food in restaurants and alcoholic drinks can be purchased quite cheaply out there. Had we have known this we would have gone self catering or B & B.
Bargain booze 1 litre of local hun or vodka €10.

Last day on check out the staff didn’t even say thanks for staying, safe trip … nothing.

We will be complaining to our tour operator.

Dear Guests, thank you very much for your review. You booked your vacation with JET 2 HOLIDAYS ,our British Partner. Hotels are obliged to fill in a fact sheet / description/brochure for each partner, before they start their cooperation. Then this description/brochure with all the details is uploaded in the internet, so the customers are able to look at all the facilities, extra charges , policies before they book.ect For all the partners we got ,it is half a page or maximum one page .For JET2 HOLIDAYS it was 30 pages!!!!It took us a week to fill it in.So detailed it is.! Our point is that in this 30 pages description, you can see that the A/C and the SAFE is with an extra charge. There is also a detailed description of the all inclusive selection. We are very sorry that you did not had the time to read any of these details in JET 2 website for Meropi. The superior rooms are brand new, constracted in 2018 , with a very modern design and modern facilities. And yes ,hotel rooms usually are next to each other and their balconies are next to each other as well. We thank you very much for your kind words about the cleaning and the restaurant staff. We wish you all the best .

In itself a good hotel. Neat from the outside, beautiful plants, nice swimming pool and we had a neat renovated room. Unfortunately, I also heard from others that they had old rooms and that the cleaning sometimes left a lot to be desired. We received clean towels once every 3 days and shampoo/shower gel once. Unfortunately, others were cleaned twice in a week. Otherwise reasonable to good food. Not very variable, but often of good quality. Keep in mind that cocktails cost 10 to 12 euros. Drinks you brought with you were not allowed to be consumed on the terrace. We don't think all-inclusive is really all-inclusive. Number of soft drinks, beer, wine and local drinks. No snack time and the slides have to be paid for, as do the lockers, air conditioning and bath towels. Also no entertainment available. A nice hotel for a week, we had a great time, but there are some areas for improvement.

We were here as a family (2 year old child) and booked a week all inclusive. We booked the normal "one bedroom apartment" and were pleasantly surprised. Everything was clean and spacious. The bathroom was newer than I thought with a walk-in shower. Only the toilet flush is very weak.
The hotel is relatively large and spacious. There are three different pool areas. One of them (Meropi Aqua) has several slides, including a smaller slide for smaller children.
This meant that the pools were never overcrowded (the hotel was fully booked at the time), but it was very pleasant. There are also enough loungers and umbrellas. There was always something free where you could lie down. I found that very positive.
The food was good and varied for an all inclusive hotel. Unfortunately there were only a few high chairs; that is definitely a negative point, as there is otherwise a lot on offer for children and families and eating out is not relaxing if you have the child on your lap, for example. Another drawback is the plastic cups that are used in the drinks dispensers. There are definitely better and more environmentally friendly options for the future.
The service staff were always nice and attentive. The manager at the restaurant could show a little more empathy towards the guests.
As already mentioned, there is a lot on offer for children. There is a small house (Kids Club) with lots of different toys and a big playground at the back. Our child loved that! (Baby swing, swings, slide, seesaw, small carousel,...). In the evenings there was always a small program such as a mini disco or movie night. This is definitely a hotel where you are in good hands with children.
Unfortunately, the WiFi was very bad very often. In this day and age, this can also be improved.
The location on Crete is also great. 30 min taxi ride from Heraklion Airport, 4 min walk to the beach (where you can rent 2 loungers + umbrella for 7€/day), directly opposite the hotel there are several supermarkets and a modern, delicious bakery/café.

Overall, a holiday I would recommend!

I do not recommend and agree with the accuracy of the comments, previous remarks, it is not worthy of a 4 star.
The positive thing is that my request was accepted, room all above and with a shower. Bon matelas.
Close to the center.
Staff smiling.

Everything is exactly like what the previous one mentions, it looks like we eat in a canteen, it is not clean, there are fat spots on the back of the chairs, everything is not all in, if you want another alcohol than theirs, you have to pay.

Let the sheets be changed only every 3 days to the rigor but also towels! Including one torn.
On arrival we receive two vials of shower gel and 2 mini soaps, and this for the whole stay.

The bed is quickly made and the garbage cans emptied.
The room is not cleaned, I find hair on the floor of the previous person when we arrived.
Outdated, dirty balcony.
Poor soundproofing.

Corridor and disgusting stairs, no one can be seen passing by with a cart.
This is why the bed and the garbage cans are only emptied.
I wanted to ask the reception for a broom but we didn't dare.

And honestly everything is expensive in Crete.

Meropi Aparthotel is a hotel with nice swimming pools and plenty of beds with pillows.
The apartments are spacious but in need of a thorough renovation. Our apartment was unfortunately above the hotel laundry which gave noise from 7 in the morning until night. The requested topper, extra pillow and kettle were arranged in a few hours. Unfortunately, this was also the only positive experience with the housekeeping. There was poor or no cleaning and after 4 days must get clean bath towels.
The food in the restaurant was of moderate quality and mostly lukewarm to cold. The toaster was broken, several reports of this but nothing was done with it. Fortunately, good restaurants are nearby where you can eat well.
The wait staff was very friendly and helpful.

This is not a 4 star hotel, 2 or 3 at a push. The food is terrible, luckily next door there is a restaurant called anemi tavern - highly recommend going there the food is the best i’ve ever had! the staff in the hotel are miserable and no entertainment . The drink selection is pathetic if you don’t drink beer then you will have to face the harsh prices of the spirits behind the bar. The pools are great and the small water park is great too, it is just spoilt by the awful atmosphere from the staff. The location is spot on you are a small walk away from the beach, bars and the shops. My advice- book somewhere else.

Please note that it is not permitted to have visitors in the rooms, they may not stay there at any time of the day. According to the reception, this is due to their policy, which is not freely described anywhere.

Be aware that non-guests are NOT allowed to sleep over or visit any guest in the room at any given time. This is due to the policy that isnt clearly written anywhere on the website or elsewhere.
