We stayed at the Ariadne for 5 nights on a B & B basis and in a superior double room. The room was clean and functional with good wardrobe and luggage space (often missing nowadays). There was a balcony which had partial views of the seas and the mountains which was nice. Some of the rooms have quite some stairs as they are set into the hillside, ours (#143) was great in that it gave the view but was not far from reception, the pool and the restaurant. It was very quiet at night. There are two pools at the hotel, one where the entertainments team are based and this is all in French as almost all residents come from France. other reviews mentioned this was a bit loud and frenetic and it can be (the hotel management should consider turning the volume knob to the left a little) but there is also a lower pool which is more quiet and had beds available until around 10am, suited us better. There is on-site parking, appreciated as we had a hire car. The buffet for breakfast was fairly basic but enough choice to find options for most people. Masks and gloves were worn inside the restaurant collecting food, not seated. There is also a small beach in front of the hotel where you can swim, very few chairs there and we never established if these were paid or free. The water was clear enough to snorkel but note beach shoes are an advantage as its a pebble beach (ouch). About 10 minutes walk takes you to a larger sandy beach with more chairs and some watersports. We didn't eat in the hotel but there's a nice cafe bar 'Votsalo' by the beach with lovely views, a nice popular family run tavern 'Gargadoros' right at the entrance to the hotel and another next to this 'Meltemi' which has cheap draft beer (3.50) and a good menu, again very friendly. 10-15 minutes walk takes you to the marina area and then the lake in Agios where there are many restaurants highly rated on TA.

A great hotel located by the beach in Stalis. The hotel is family owned and all guests are treated like a family. Many returning many times for the hospitality shown. The rooms have been renovated to the highest quality and meticulously clean. Good meals of Cretan and continental variety are served inside or outside of the clean restaurant served by an excellent waiting staff. The pool bar is one of the best I have been to located 25 metres from the beach. The pool bar serves hot food till 4-00 and the choice of meals is very good and plentiful and reasonably priced. Sit in comfort and listen to the relaxing background music while having a meal or drink day and night. Sunbathing can be done on the beach or on the spacious luscious grass lawn. The gardens are a horticulturists paradise with glorious blooms and fruit trees which are kept in good condition under the expert eye of the owner and his staff. Nothing is too much for the staff of this hotel to welcome you and making your holiday one to remember. Highly recommended.

Returned for my birthday and had a great holiday. Arrived about 11-00pm and check in was excellent. We were directed to the pool bar where we received a cold plate buffet for our evening meal, this was excellent. This is a family run hotel and you are treated as if you are part of their family. The meals were very good and plenty of food. The waiting staff very friendly and efficient. The pool bar is very good and located near the beach, a place to relax both daytime and night time. They also serve excellent meals at very reasonable prices during the lunch period. The rooms are cleaned daily to a very high spec and bedding and towels changed every 2 days. Friends we have met from other countries were there at the same time. The hotel was full so says something for how good it is. Once again we were not disappointed and can highly recommend the hotel.

We have visited this hotel four times now but the last time was not a good experience.
We booked a superior room but on our arrival that was early hours in the morning were offered a superior room at a cost of an extra 115 Euros but we explained that we had already paid for this we were shown to a room that was not superior so the next day we asked to be moved and still did not get the room we paid for? We then had a drain problem and when my husband went to reception the lady on the desk was rude and abrupt with him saying you cannot change your room again? He never mentioned this we only needed the shower drain sorting especially as we only had half the glass we should have had in the shower cubibcle. So advice to anybody thinking of going here do not pay extra on your booking!

The hotel is nice. However, all consumption must be paid immediately and in cash. Hotel deckchairs next to the swimming pool and those on the beach are payable extra every day at a rate of €2.50 per deckchair and per parasol. Even the snack bar next to the swimming pool cannot be paid for with a credit card...
The food is edible but not exceptional. Little choice of fruit. Be careful for people with a special diet, nothing is specified on the dishes.

Very nice hotel, located between sea and main road of beautiful village of Stalida. One can walk along the road visiting cute shops and restaurants. We loved the location and the village very much.

Hotel is not very big, few three stories buildings and it was full. No option to upgrade a room, what was unfortunate. We had view to the parking and bins (114), although the hotel has very nice views and gardens.

Pool is good, beach is lovely. Big waves and warm. Kids spent hours there.

Paying for the sun beds is a good idea. No need to rush there early in the morning to reserve a sun bed. Pool guy will bring you as many as you wish, 2,5 € for each per day.

Breakfast was fine, no long lines. Dinner was included but I prefer to eat in different local taverns.

We have stayed at this hotel at the end of summer for one week. The first day, when we came, the air conditioner was not working, so we tell to the reception, they came in to our room and do nothing. It was very hot to sleep. We came socound time and result was the same. They not fix or offer the other room, sonevery night we slept with wet towels. The food was good and rooms were clean.

We have been here for 6 days now and we all agree: the Ariadne is great. Our room on the ground floor is clean, kept very clean, the shower is big, the beds are comfortable. Breakfast is good, at lunchtime you can eat in the hotel right by the pool or go to one of the many restaurants that you can find on the left and right of the street. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The pool is clean and not overcrowded, the sunbathing area is huge and, like everything in the hotel, very clean and well-kept. A few steps away from the pool and you are in the sea. There is no entertainment, we just have our peace and quiet. The clientele is mixed, with lots of Swiss and Germans, and also some English people. And Italians. The clientele tends to be older.

I cannot compliment this hotel enough, the staff were so friendly and helpful, the room was lovely and comfortable. As I am a primary school teacher it was great that it was child free. The food (we had half board) was absolutely stunning and made even more so because there was not a single British option!!! All the food was authentic Greek or Mediterranean cuisine and tasted divine! The bar staff were equally as helpful and everyone made this the best 60th birthday present ever.

Didn’t stay at the hotel, but used the sun beds & parasols daily (have to pay), the sunbed man comes round to move things for you and collect payment, he is great.
Food in the beach bar was excellent, staff were friendly, great variety of beverages, good price.
Service slower in busy times but the surroundings are great and relaxing.
Lovely pool.

Hi Gabor Can you tell me if the hotel has nice soft sand or is it a mix of sand and pebbles? Thank you for your time.
Answer from Robert S

Narrow sandy beach with sunbeds. Beach is private to the hotel. Sunbed/sunshade around €1.80 per day. If you keep your receipt, you can leave and return later at no extra cost. Hope this helps.
