This was the most wonderful hotel, stunning inside and out with beautiful gardens. The staff were brilliant - very friendly and helpful. The food was wonderful, freshly cooked and so tasty. The whole place was really clean and it had great facilities. The pools were really good and the spa was excellent, I had a few treatments with Sofia who was amazing. The manager Michael was also amazing. I had an accident on 1st day, not the hotel's fault yet I received 1st class treatment and care from Michael and the staff. They went above and beyond and I really appreciated their kindness & courtesy. The room was nice and big, the beds very comfortable. We had guests too in the form of local cats which was great for me being a cat lover. Whether you like cats or not this is one fabulous hotel & village and I fully recommend it. Can't wait to go back.

Hotel's Favorite
This is genuinely the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in. The views are so beautiful and the beach behind 4 yards from the pool is such a treat. The sea is shallow quite a way out so you can go out with children and feel safe. The rooms are spotless and lovely - the beds were SO comfortable too and if you need anything the staff will help you immediately. It truely is stunning and the staff are so kind and helpful, even organising a bag of rice for my wet phone to dry out! They also take Covid extremely seriously, everyone is wearing masks and visors, taxis are temp tested before they come on site and there is hand sanitizer everywhere. You really feel safe in that regard. Also Crete itself are being really good. You can't even go into a little gift shop without wearing a mask. It's a perfect spot because you have Malia a short walk away if you want to 'party' or old Malia if you want to visit the most gorgeous restaurants, but being out the way enough that you can totally avoid it if it's not your thing. Also Heraklion is very easy to get to if you want to do some shopping or see it's history, as there is a bus stop nearby, with a ticket costing around €3. All in all, I could not recommend this hotel more! Perfect for families, couples or friends.

The resort is directly on the beach including 6 pools. The welcome at the reception is friendly and profesional. We asked kindly for a quiet room and Costas organized it. The whole hotel is perfect and clean. There are many places to eat , we enjoyed the beach restaurant where Janis , Christina and Anastasia took good care of us. The food quality and choice is great and price reasonable. Breakfast and dinner at main restaurant is with a lot of choice and good quality. We also appreciated the courtesy taxi to bring us to the Alexander Beach. Thank you for a memorable holiday. Malgorzata & Kristian

My wife and I have just spent another nine glorious days in the Alexander Beach Hotel & Village, this was our second visit to this beautiful hotel and it won’t be our last (our previous trip was in 2019 prior to Covid 19). My last review about the Alexander detailed all aspects of the hotel such as the location, number of pools, bars etc and it was very positive hence our return visit. This time around I would only have one very minor negative point to make, the resort have introduced a new measure whereby a plastic chain is placed around all the pools between the hours of 18:00 hours to 10:00 hours, the chains appear pointless plus they are ugly and certainly detract from this beautiful resort. As a result of the pandemic there have been some changes made on site since our last visit including; - the self serve buffet has been amended so that servers put the food on your plate to stop all the holiday makers touching all the utensils and thus preventing the transmission of any virus. - the main pool bar has closed though there are two other pool bars open. - the bar adjacent to the road is closed. - in addition there are multiple measures in place to keep all holiday makers safe, all staff where face masks at all times, there is plenty of access to hand sanitiser and everyone on site is encouraged to social distance. It should be noted that holiday makers are not required to wear masks whilst on site. Overall we felt extremely safe whilst staying at the Alexander and we would highly recommend this beautiful resort to all our family and friends, enjoy!

Had 2 weeks at the Alexander Beach from 17 Aug 2020 to 31 Aug 2020. Arranged the holiday through Jet2 and flew from Edinburgh Airport. This was during the coronavirus pandemic but luckily Greece/Crete were not on the UK quarantine list at that time. Unfortunately for Crete it was added to the UK quarantine list a few days after our return - in my view utterly nonsensical as I felt safer there than I do in Scotland. We arrived at the Alexander late at night on the 17th and were welcomed by a lovely lady on reception. She like all other members of staff wore a protective mask and gloves and there was a protective screen between us and her. Hand sanitisation units were everywhere throughout the complex. She explained that we would check in on line using a link she gave us then explained about the hotel and gave us our room key. A member of staff took our cases to the room. I then used the online link to check in which was easy as was setting up access to the free wifi. The Alexander is not a hotel in my way of thinking - it is a complex comprising a main building with reception, bars, some shops, a spa, restaurants etc and the accomodation was little blocks of apartments of various types and sizes. I had paid for a superior double room with a sea view and we were given room 113. This was on the first floor of the block - there was one floor above us and one at ground level below - we heard nothing from any of these rooms during our stay. I opened the curtains and we had one of the outdoor restauarants, a pool and the seaview in front and to the left side of us. Beautiful. All could be seen from a balcony which was adequate for 2 people with a table, 2 chairs and a clothes drying rack. The room had the bed area - 2 twins pushed together, a free digital safety deposit box, a free to use fridge, a modern tv which mainly showed non english channels, a nice bathroom with toilet, shower and sink, and a lounge area with a small table and settee which I think could be made into a fold down bed. There was enough space in the cupboards and drawers for us to store our clothes but I wouldnt say it was huge in this respect. There was a kettle and loads of power points round the room. The air conditioning was excellent - and needed. We were on half board and went for breakfast next day. Hot food till 10:00 am then continental for about another hour after that. Bacon, eggs, omellete, mushrooms, tomatoes, bread, toast, pastries fruit, cheese, ham, fruit juices, tea all available as was a vast variety of cereals. Because of covid safety there was no self service for any meals - the staff wearing covid protection, plated up whatever you asked for and handed it to you. There was a one way social distancing system in the dining areas which most people observed and plenty distance between the tables. Coffee was served at the table. It was the same system for the evening meal but on arrival you opted to have dinner between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm or 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm and had to stick to that unless you arranged otherwise in advance. You are allocated a specific table for your stay. Men had to wear long trousers for dinner and everyone complied with that rule. The food at dinner was nice with enough choice for everyone. I do think that like everywhere else, the covid requirements restrict the range of food that can be provided at this time but there seemed to be something for everyone's tastes. The complex had 2 small pools for children - one was 0.8m deep the other for toddlers was 0.4m deep. In addition there were 4 other pools each being 1.4m deep. There were no shallow or deep ends and there were ladders to climb in and out. The pools were lovely, very well kept and clean. There were good quality sunbeds everywhere round the pools, on little terraces, on the beach. Every 2 together had a sun umbrella. All were free to hotel guests and there was no problem getting sunbeds at anytime of day. Sunbed reserving was not permitted and was completely uneccesary anyway. The complex has 2 stretches of sandy beaches one of which has a lifeguard in attendance. There were water sports available but had to be paid for. We made use of the pool and beach bars regularly for food and drinks and sampled the many cocktails on offer. Pint of the local beer Mythos was E4:80. Whatever it cost for food and drinks was well worth it just to sit and take in the lovely views of the beach and rolling waves. Everything bought in the complex could be charged to the room to save carrying much cash about. This is with the exception of the on site shop which did not allow room charging. For soft drinks etc we took a 3 minute walk to the supermarket just outside the hotel- masks have to be worn in shops but not in restaurants or bars. There was no loud blaring music round the pools but generally something gentle and relaxing was being played. There were some activities put on round the pool and in the main poolside bar but with only 200 people in 1200 people complex it was difficult to get many people to join in. The animation team tried their very best. The noisiest thing at the Alexander are the thousands of cicadas chirping away all day in the garden areas- wonderful sound When we booked the Alexander we had every intention of going on trips to see the sites. We did nothing. This was because we enjoyed the complex so much, the swimming, the sunbathing and because of the heat and coronavirus situation. We did visit local bars and restaurants and had a couple of leisurely strolls into Stalis. To end - we thoroughly enjoyed our vist to the Alexander and would highly recommend it to anyone. There are all kinds of nationalities there and most people would say hello. It is not a rowdy hotel and there is security at the hotel entrance to ensure it remains that way and that the guests are safe. The covid precautions are first class and we had no fears about catching anything of that nature. And lastly the staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Thanks Alexander Beach for a great holiday.
