Getting there
Great for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
This hotel is located in the heart of Malia, all shops and restaurants are close. The pool area is well maintained, filled with fruit trees and enough sunbeds for everyone. Pool bar offers nice food and drinks, ice cream, coffee etc. Friendly service. Overall there is a cosy feeling almost throughout the family owned hotel. Breakfast waiters were the only two persons at the hotel who did not seem to enjoy their job. No smile, no good morning and very slow filling of the empty dishes. The owner showed up some mornings and then all dishes became full quickly.
Rooms are small and they have seen their best days, but silent and powerful air conditioning makes up for a lot! I need my bedroom to be cool and you could adjust this just as you please. Separate beds were unfortunately very uncomfortable and shower corner so small that the bathroom floor got completely wet during shower. Very good and cold fridge is a big plus. Pool hours 10-18 seemed a little short. Parking can be very difficult as there are no parking spaces for hotel guests. We had half board and could choose between lunch or dinner. We chose lunch and we enjoyed it. A lot of food so you wont be hungry, fixed menu. Tasty greek food. Usually salad and soup, main course and dessert. Overall a warm and welcoming feeling from arrival till the end. Despite the little negatives we would be happy to back.

My second visit to this hotel this year, I always enjoy my holiday here (see previous reviews). I have to write this review due to the new super-fast wifi that has been installed. This enabled me to stream films and live football games on my device within the hotel- this is especially handy should the weather turn bad which occasionally happens, or if I just needed to stay out of the sun in a nice cool air-conditioned room sometimes after a tiring previous night- will hopefully be returning next year to see other familier faces that also return here every year.

Visited August 2021 with 12 friends for my hen do. The staff really do make this hotel great. I've visited many places abroad and never had such friendly, great service from the staff. From Michael the evening barman who even did us a greek dance to the Aimilia the lady on the pool bar who makes the BEST cocktails and food! The restaurant staff, reception and chef were also great!
The cleanliness you could not fault, everywhere was cleaned daily and there was air con, fridge and a hairdryer in the room. No tea and coffee facilities even though it does say it has on the website.
The food was great quality and enough choice to feed yourself each day although repetitive by the end of the week but you get that with any all inclusive food. Those with veggie/vegan may struggle to get enough choice though or those who are picky. You were only allowed butter for your bread at breakfast which was just a bit tight to be honest.
For me there was only two downsides to the hotel. Firstly they NEED to state on travel agents and the hotel website that only soft drinks, wine and beer is included in all inclusive. No spirits at all which I have to say was rather disappointing when we hadn't been pre warned before arrival. I don't like wine or beer so to get there on my hen do with no alcohol really let it down.
The soft drinks at the pool bar taste fusty and chemical (but don't at the evening bar) so whatever it is needs looking at as I was buying cans in the end as it was undrinkable. You also can not take any food or drink of your own around the pool. Not even bottles of your own water. I wouldn't mind but the pool bar doesn't even sell crisps and nuts which many people like to nibble on around the pool.
However the food that you pay for at the pool bar was absolutely delicious. We did this one lunch time instead of going into the restaurant and it didn't dissapoint! Good prices. Try Aimilas special omlette and club sandwich which were the best! Also he cocktails Aimilia makes are delicious! The pina coladas are the best I've had.
The staff work so hard to really make this hotel great and they do a fantastic job making you feel welcome and at home.
The location was great, at the top of the main road and less than a mile to the beach. It was so quiet even though our balcony was overlooking the main road but I didn't mind as I like to people watch.
The pool is great and lots of sunbeds and parasols too. I would visit again but on a bed and breakfast basis due to the all inclusive drinks.
A great little family run hotel with great staff, clean and with Greek rustic charm!

Was in this very nice family-run hotel several times. Location, facilities absolutely top notch. Everyone is very friendly and helpful, little tip...what goes around comes around... Rooms are always clean, bathroom doesn't flood with normal use. And the new box spring bed is comfortable. I had a lovely balcony. Breakfast buffet absolutely adequate and enough choice and very good in terms of quality and taste. Would be nice in 4* 5* hotels, where it was worse. Pool area is simply great. Wonderful garden surrounds pool with plenty of loungers and bar. Location is great. There is a supermarket opposite, bus stops are not far away and you can walk to the sea in 15 minutes or to Potamos beach in 35 minutes. Old Malia is lovely with great, delicious tavernas. I don't recommend Malia for families, those in need of peace and quiet, or those who are overly sensitive. One thing in particular is a concern, this hotel is 2*, which I think some 4* hotels can learn a lot from... I'll be back

Currently staying at the hotel, really disappointed at paying for half board as the food is terrible, they serve the weirdest concoctions of food and never have any bacon for breakfast - we are having to spend extra money to actually get decent food. The wait staff are lovely and do their best but there are a lot of problems in that area that need worked on, the grey haired lady who seems to be a manager does very little to help and can regularly be seen doing nothing and sitting on people's loungers and chatting. She unfortunately was very cheeky to me on my 1st morning because I brought a drink with me when i was laying by the pool, I am currently partially disabled and can't get up and down to the bar to buy drinks. There are a group of ladies who seem to get off with a lot more than the rest of us. This hotel could be a goldmine if the food issue was sorted and decent management was employed.

This was my second stay in this hotel (see my first review 2018)- I was made to feel more than welcome. During the difficult covid 19 situation I was made to feel very reassuringly safe to see the highest measures being taken by the staff, mouth and face masks constantly worn, regularly sanitising surfaces etc. The staff are all working hard to make our stays as safe and pleasant as possible. The room was spotless and the bed was comfy, the amenities were great. For being in a central location there were no problems with noise. I will miss this hotel but will be surely be booking again hopefully with no covid risk - but that would not put me off if the risk is the same. Thank you to Malia Holidays Hotel... Hopefully will see you next year...

The hotel is in a perfect location at the centre of Malia next to the public bus stop which is very convenient moving to and from the airport and the port of Heraklion. It is very clean with a very friendly staff and the food and breakfast served is excellent in terms of variety and quality. Strongly recommended!

I love this hotel, the staff, the location and have stayed here a few times before as with other hotels within the area (neither of which I have any complaints- but the location of this hotel is ideal). With a nice pool area, the gardens are beautifully maintained and the rooms are quiet and clean. The bus stops and taxi rank are within minutes away allowing easy access to other resorts. I always enjoy a glass of wine and relaxing on the terrace watching the world go by before making any plans for the night. The bars each side of the hotel offer good food, nice drinks, and TV sports in a safe environment I am a solo traveller as with other visitors who stay here and the staff make me feel very welcome. I will be booking again to avoid the disappointment of the hotel becoming fully booked soon.

This was the first and last time I will ever stay here! A real disappointment! Do not waste your time and money staying here, I’m not simply a disgruntled customer this is genuinely like fawlty towers and something from out of the 1940’s. The breakfast if you could call it that is was a shambles paid extra for it and only ate it once spent my mornings in the venue next door. The staff… Soula the desk clerk has no manners whatsoever and doesn’t know how to speak to people her interpersonal skills are non-existent and made my experience even worse. The showers are a joke and water spills out every where. Please do not I repeat please do not waste your time and money here!!!
