Kastro Beach is a great place to stay during your holiday in Malia. It is a family owned complex of apartments and studios. Having the greatest location on beach road, we are 1 minute away from the beach and a few steps from all the bars, clubs, restaurants and shops. An enjoyable 10 minute walk from our hotel will lead you to the Old Town of Malia where you can find more traditional taverns and cafes.Kastro Apartments offers a warm welcoming atmosphere for a pleasant stay. Each unit includes a balcony and has access to all our facilities such as swimming pool, pool bar, and 24 hour reception. Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Me and my friends stayed at Kastro for a week in the sun. It has a perfect location by the beach. It’s still on the strip but further enough down for those who aren’t party goers, with a good 11pm cut off for noise from the rooms (which has been enforced). That doesn’t mean that the fun stops at 11pm however as the bar itself is great, offering great drinks, deals and karaoke!
The staff make the place, from Nikos’ family, to Toni and Sarah, all are very welcoming and have really made the holiday great with their hospitality.
The pool area and the bar are great too, and the service for food and drink around the poolside are great also.
Again the location is great with loads of shops, bars and restaurants all around it even a pharmacist close by.
I would come back to Malia JUST for the Kastro and their hospitality- highly recommend this for all guests.

I don't normally write reviews, however just wanted to let folk know. If you've booked to come on holiday to Kastro Apartments you won't be disappointed. Since arriving we where made to feel most welcome & nothing was too much trouble. This is a family run business, Nikos & all the family work very hard making sure everyone has the best holiday ever. The full complex is well maintained to a very high standard & the pool area is spotless. Would most definitely recommend to family & friends, hope to return next year. Thank you to Niko's & all the family, as well as all of the other attentive staff for a fantastic holiday.

We came to Kastro apts with a group of friends (families) kids ages from 7-20, based on the fact some of them had been to Kastro 5yrs previous. I was a bit nervous as remembered Malia from younger years and didn’t know if be any good for my 7yr old (or my 16yr old) However I didn’t need to worry Kastro apts is a family run business, they are wonderful. We arrived late on a Saturday night and straight away our every need was met, they welcomed us, we were in our rooms within 5 mins, they got us drinks and made us so welcome. We had a one bed apartment- perfect 4 beds none of these sofa beds. Air Con in room is bloody great! Rooms spotless. We had an amazing week at Kastro, the staff treat you like family, nothing is too much trouble, the pool is clean and just the right size, plenty of sun beds (there was 22 in our group - always a sunlounger) not those cheap ones, proper cushioned comfy loungers. No mad rush to get up to save a sunbed. The food is fantastic infact we hardly eat out! The bar at the front Charlie’s, is great fun, good holiday fun with plenty of sing songs. The weekly BBQ was a treat and so much fun for such a low price! It was my daughters 16th while there and the team organised a mini pool side party for her with a cake balloons etc again like doing it for family. You just can’t fault Kastro Apts and I’d definitely return. The apts are at the end of the “strip” but far away from the younger scene and noise. Whilst the Kastro is a mixed hotel there are some younger guests with it being so close to everything but because of the vibe in the hotel of a real family run business it works well and certainly not any “drunken teenagers” everyone shows respect and the owners keep it that way. Thank you Nikkos and team you made Crete 22 so memorable.

We arrived at Kastros Beach Apartments\Charlies bar 30 mins before closing and received the warmest welcome we have ever experienced. We were given the option to either go to our rooms or join the party for the last half hour, which needed to be done after travelling all day :) We stayed in room 301, this is a fantastic room with sea and mountain view either side. Our room was bright, modern with all facilities needed for a holiday and the rooms were cleaned regularly more than expected. Throughout our stay the attention from Nikos, his family and staff were wonderful, they made customers feel special and could not do enough for their guests. The atmosphere every night in Charlies Bar was electric, we met likeminded people and partied in Charlies bar most evenings (pre drinks were at 2pm) and we got up to a lot of pranks. All the cocktail were brilliant at Charlies, Gregory yours were the best 😉 the lemon slush should be tried, we couldn’t get enough of them. We have already booked our holiday there for 2021 for a 50th birthday with the girls and cannot wait and hopefully COVID will be over and we can party longer. Even with COVID restriction Nikos had everything in place and everything was cleaned several times ie, the bar, tables & chairs to name a few, even if it was not used, it was cleaned again before a customer would be seated. We visited Nisos beach which is a minutes’ walk from Charlies Bar, they have double beach beds, fine sands, it was like being at a private beach. Kastros Beach apartments is a lively place to stay or visit for good food and drinks and I would recommend it for any age group who like the party atmosphere and to have a great time.

Cannot say enough good things about this hotel! The staff our absolutely incredible! Our first day was met with the warmest of welcomes. And staff are always friendly and chatty. Sarah is an absolute asset to the team and we are always excited to see her in the morning! Nikos the hotel owner runs an incredible service making sure we are always looked after. It’s a family owned business too so finding out about their back stories and the development of the hotel was really interesting!
Ava the cleaner was so friendly and loved talking to her in the morning even though we were hanging. She enters the room every other day around 10-11 so bare that in mind if you’re planning a late night.
The food at the hotel was amazing. Very affordable and swift service! Not to mention you can order food at the pool too and have it brought to you!
Little touches like bringing watermelon for free to us on a pool day, and hosting a family bbq on Saturday where all the food was lovingly made by Nikos’ family were definitely some highlights.
The room itself served its purpose. The shower was perfect and the beds were super comfy! Which felt especially comfy after a night on the strip.
If you’re worried about sleep, need not. The hotel is situated far enough away from the main of the strip so you won’t get that noise. There is Charlie’s bar directly in front of the hotel however the noise is quiet enough for even me, an insomniac!
The only thing I could critique is having the pool cleaned more regularly as every-time we went in, it wasn’t the cleanest and was quite put off from going in.
I would definitely come back again! The location for the beach, shops and strip are perfect! And the family feel is so warming and welcoming.

Very good for the price, the staff are brilliant very friendly and always try to make the most of your stay. The food was great also. The location is also great being just a 2 minute walk from the main strip and just a 1 minute walk from lots of nice beaches. The pool is kept very clean and a great temperature

Recently had a holiday to Crete and stayed in Kastro apartments , I would recommend these apartments to any students looking for a fun and affordable holiday. The staff were kind and welcoming and the apartments as a whole had an overall great vibe, as it had a pool and bar attached, and events such as BBQs and bingo nights would be held too. I would love to personally single out Sarah for being the kindest woman I have ever met, she went above and beyond as a staff member to assure we had a great holiday, she always had a smile on her face and was always happy to answer whatever questions we had , wether it was to recommend us good beach spots, good places to eat and drink or good excursions to go on. Sarah helped to make out holiday the best holiday possible :) I can’t wait to return for another holiday too , especially as Crete itself is so beautiful !
The only criticism I have is that the chairs/sofas in the bar let it down slightly as some are dirty or have holes in (but maybe that’s because it’s the end of the season so hopefully will soon be refurbished)

Well I don't know where to start. This has been the best girls holiday away ever. Perfect location. Apartments are very clean and spacious. All staff are very welcoming caring and really look after you, they defo can't do enough for you, nothing is too much trouble for them. Pool and bar area is lovely and clean well maintained and plenty of sun loungers/seating areas. Breakfast is fantastic again very well looked after. Cocktails are the best ever. We had the best nights in the bar, staff are very entertaining and you always are very welcomed and feel very safe, you are made to feel part of the family. We defo want to book back for next year. We would defo never go any where else in Malia defo best place out there 🥰🥰

Every year me and my friends go away for a bit of R&R and party child free…. The Kastro team couldn’t do more to make our holiday enjoyable, relaxing and most importantly to us fun. The rooms were absolutely spotless clean and spacious. Tony, Nicos, Savva and all the staff were so lovely and as a group of girls we felt safe and made so welcome. The food & Cocktails in Charlie’s bar is absolutely delicious and we have already rebooked for next year.

The "Rowdy youngsters" tend to stay higher up the strip. I can't guarantee that it will be quiet though. Nico & his team cater for their audience. It was late in a covid hit season when I was there. I can guarantee that you will be made very very welcome & made to feel at home. I've already rebooked for May this year. The apartments are well laid out and there are quieter ones to the rear of the premises. Hope that helps but if you've any doubts get in touch with them direct & I'm sure they will be happy to help.
