Firstly, I want to say, that the bar staff, the waiters and most of the people we met who work at this hotel were amazing. They were very sociable, and helped make our holiday! However, we were let down by the management in an unacceptable way. In our first few nights, we invited friends back to our apartment for a quiet drink and was shocked to find out that the night security would not allow them to enter unless we paid 20EUR each per person to invite people into our own hotel room. During that same evening, whilst we were in our own room, we were suprised by the night security guard who had let himself into our room, without knocking, and proceeded to start attempting to clean. He would not leave, and only did so when we paid him 20EUR. Half way through our holiday (by our request) we were moved to another room. After we moved we were confronted by the management and told we would have to pay 20EUR as we had left a towel on the floor! We simply did this, as when stepping out of the shower, the floor was slippery and it helped us keep the floor dry and prevent us from slipping and injuring ourselves. In fact, most hotels invite you to leave towels on the floor or in the bath, as a way to indicate that you would like fresh towels. On further nights of our holiday, the same security guard entered our room, without knocking on multiple occasions. Around 4 days into our trip, the two of us began to feel sick. We were unable to sleep due to the air-conditioning. It was clear that the air-con had not been serviced in some time, in one of the rooms, the air-con dripped water onto the bed during the night! We both woke up multiple times in the night, with VERY VERY dry mouth and throat to the point where we were unable to swallow. We both contracted tonsillitis and chest infections, and had to arrange to see a doctor to get treatment. As a result of how sick we were, one of us were able to check into another hotel further down the road, and one of us had to stay. I recovered fairly quickly after leaving, but my friend did not and in fact got worse even with antibiotics. The final straw was during check-out, the hotel manager got angry with us, attempted to charge us 20EUR for this 30EUR for that etc, and put us in fear that he would call the police if we did not pay. Overall, although the bar staff etc were amazing, I would not stay in this hotel, and would strongly advise anyone else against doing so. We are adults, and were floored by how sick this hotel made us, and I would dread to think what would happen to a child in the same position, especially so far from home. The extra charges were (in my opinion) criminal. And the constant entry to our room unannounced during the night left us uneasy at all times. It meant we could not shower or get changed without having to hide in-case someone came in! At the end of our trip, we were returning the bikes that we had rented for the week, and mentioned some of this to the rental person, who immediately said the name of the manager in question and laughed as he knew that this was a persistent issue!

Been here for a week now with my wife and love the place. Lovely, neat impeccably clean rooms with smart Tv's and really good air con. I haven't got a bad work to say about it. It's located a minute walk to the beach and beach clubs also right on the main strip but not as loud as it's a minute or 2 walk to all the club's. The pool is one of the cleanest I've seen. We can't thank all the staff enough. The whole crew are lovely and always checking to see if you're good for everything. We highly recommend this lovely place and will 100% be back. Much love Dean & Andrea

We booked here as it was the highest rated hotel on Trip Advisor... and we weren't disappointed!! The location of the hotel is amazing - it's right on the strip but far enough away that it's quiet. It's a 2 minute walk to the beach, and a 5 minute walk to the bars and nightclubs. We arrived at around 10pm, and were worried that we may have an issue checking in at that time. However, this was not the case at all. We had the warmest of greetings from all of the staff working at the hotel/bar. They all introduced themselves, carried our bags and took us to our room. They did temperature checks inline with covid guidelines. Already we were impressed! The room was basic, but was very clean and had everything we needed. The balcony had a great view over the strip, sea and mountains. The pool was also quite basic and was shared with another hotel. You weren't allowed to use the other hotels sun loungers, so on a couple of days we did find it difficult to find somewhere to go. So instead, we spent most of the days at the beach. I'd definitely recommend the Bikini Beach Bar (2 min walk from the hotel) - beautiful beach with comfy sunbeds! Each evening we started our night in Charlies Bar, their cocktails are so good!! The bar is also a really great way to meet others staying in the hotel. We made loads of friends while staying there! Then after the bars/clubs closed (at midnight due to covid curfew) we came back and chilled on the sun terrace. The staff even offered to make us toasties, this was so much better than eating from late night takeaways on the strip! What makes this hotel so special is the staff. They are so friendly and so welcoming, even taking the time to learn your names. They also give you free shots regularly! It's the first hotel I've ever been to where they actually treat you as friends rather than guests. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Malia, it is so good!! We will be back next year.

We arrived at Kastros Beach Apartments\Charlies bar 30 mins before closing and received the warmest welcome we have ever experienced. We were given the option to either go to our rooms or join the party for the last half hour, which needed to be done after travelling all day :) We stayed in room 301, this is a fantastic room with sea and mountain view either side. Our room was bright, modern with all facilities needed for a holiday and the rooms were cleaned regularly more than expected. Throughout our stay the attention from Nikos, his family and staff were wonderful, they made customers feel special and could not do enough for their guests. The atmosphere every night in Charlies Bar was electric, we met likeminded people and partied in Charlies bar most evenings (pre drinks were at 2pm) and we got up to a lot of pranks. All the cocktail were brilliant at Charlies, Gregory yours were the best 😉 the lemon slush should be tried, we couldn’t get enough of them. We have already booked our holiday there for 2021 for a 50th birthday with the girls and cannot wait and hopefully COVID will be over and we can party longer. Even with COVID restriction Nikos had everything in place and everything was cleaned several times ie, the bar, tables & chairs to name a few, even if it was not used, it was cleaned again before a customer would be seated. We visited Nisos beach which is a minutes’ walk from Charlies Bar, they have double beach beds, fine sands, it was like being at a private beach. Kastros Beach apartments is a lively place to stay or visit for good food and drinks and I would recommend it for any age group who like the party atmosphere and to have a great time.
