The customer service here is just outstanding. When you look at establishments of luxury who believe that they have more business than they need and treat you as “less than” you realize the value that consistent friendliness, courtesy, and service above self brings to the equation. The warmth we felt right from the beginning immediately put us at ease.

The initial tour was perfect, our concièrge Sylvain customized it to our needs, listening as much as he talked. We opted that evening to get a couples massage before dinner at L’Auberge, and found this well set the relaxing mood for the entire stay. We found the waitstaff there to be personable, and loved how they knew what we liked as well many times before we ordered it.

The room was just marvelous! Spacious for Europe, almost palatial with the windows opening for the morning or evening’s freshest of air. Loved the soaps, the towel warmer, the electrical hookups for my CPAP and charging of devices, as well as the water closet separate from the shower.

Parking was easy, the place oozes peacefulness, and for those smart enough to get an electric vehicle, dedicated charging for this as well. I say smart because we had rented a hybrid, only to have a strike folks in transportation including the oil refineries and delivery of gasoline. Without gas to be had, we were a bit panicked. Thibault of the restaurant however was on the phone with our rental agency as well as a local gas station and found where we could fill our tank.

Sylvain made our visit so memorable, and we just cannot wait to go back to feel the peace and relaxation we felt in this place

We stayed two nights in this beautiful hotel on our way back to the Netherlands. The oasis of serenity actually started when we came through the gate and drove to the Castle via a road through the woods. Upon arrival, we were kindly welcomed by a young man who helped unload our luggage and transfer it to a cargo bike. The receptionist greeted us and asked our names. She asked if we had had a good journey and invited us to a seating area behind the reception desk that felt like a living room. Another employee offered us a freshly cooled drink. After about 10 minutes, a young lady introduced herself as our host and invited us for a little tour around the property.
The hotel is divided between the Castle and several outbuildings. In the Castle are rooms and the spa and access to an outdoor pool which is located on the edge of the forest. In the various chambers on the Castle's first floor, you can have a great time with family, friends, or as a couple. If you like old-fashioned games, then you are in the right place. The other rooms are located in the outbuildings, and each room has a terrace with seating. Our host guided us to room 65, which was located in the last building. A beautiful room on the 1st floor, with a very spacious bathroom equipped with a separate shower and bath, plenty of closet space, a cozy sitting area, a king size+ bed, and a separate toilet. From our balcony, we looked out over the countryside. You can use the free bicycles at the reception as a guest, and the hotel has several charging points for electric cars. The hotel has two restaurants, of which Le Favori has been awarded a Michelin star. We had already booked Le Favori in advance because it has a limited number of tables. In the morning, a delicious breakfast buffet was waiting for us in L'Auberge. The coffee was made fresh. We could order all kinds of egg dishes, and there were several kinds of freshly baked bread, plenty of toppings, and delicious fruit ready. We had two beautiful days in an oasis of peace, hospitality, and above all, in the middle of nature. All the staff is friendly. I can describe much more, but you really have to experience it yourself. Everything, but then also everything was perfect. Thanks for your hospitality, and until the next time.

I went with a girlfriend for a yoga retreat and stayed on with my husband. The staff are delightful. The Chateau de Breuil which is the main hotel has all of its old world charm with up to date conveniences. Beautifully decorated with authentic French château designs, furnishings and colours. It’s a level of personalized sophistication I have not seen in a five star hotel for a very long time.
It was wonderful to just to laze in the main drawing room and read or listen to The Eagles vinyl on the record player in the afternoon.
The spa lives up to the Caudalie reputation. I had both a facial and a deep tissue massage and both were excellent.
Activities around the hotel include bicycles, long walks, horse riding and of course visits to the Loire valley chateaus. There are numerous board and card games in the drawing rooms as well as a French billards table and a fusball table. You don’t even need to leave the hotel except for a walk in their 40 hectares of wooded parkland.
The hôtel, it’s surroundings and the staff are all to be complemented on creating this little piece of heaven in the Loire valley.

We found the hotel mediocre and also with a milking mindset. Property is not super well maintained. This doesn't feel luxury, just an average hotel that happens to own a XVIII century palace.

The details:

At our arrival we were immediately "upgraded" to suite (because small kids are not accepted in smaller rooms even if they sleep with parents). This double our price.

The swimming pool indoors does not admit guests of the hotel unless they take a spa service. We were offered a "special deal" to use the pool for 1 hr for 100 dollars.

We were charged for every single step, it was such a difference from a stay elsewhere at a luxury hotel indeed.

The restaurant was nice but also not luxury, although tasty.

We liked the area, but not the visit to Chiverney palace. This was the least impressive of the ones we visited and very cheesy: they decorated everything for the Easter with bunnies as personages and eggs hanging everywhere. Yukes.

Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion after your stay with us. We strive to deliver the very best experience possible to our guests, so your feedback is much appreciated. We are sorry to read that the decoration did not meet your expectations. The hotel was designed to tell a story. We carefully selected antique furniture with noble fabrics to offer the most refined atmosphere possible. To respect the calm of clients undergoing treatment, we limit access to the indoor pool and the hammam. However, the heated outdoor swimming pool and the Nordic bath are accessible to all of our clients. Regarding the restaurants, please note that we offer 2 options tailored to your needs : the country-inn L’Auberge (the one you experienced) friendly, authentic and good-natured restaurant and Le Favori, a 1-Michelin star gourmet restaurant. If you are looking for a superior service with a luxurious selection of food dishes, Le Favori may be the good choice for you. We hope to see you soon despite your disappointment. Warm regards, Les Sources de Cheverny

We had booked 2 nights in the Sources de Cheverny expecting a couple of relaxing and pleasant days. We were extremely disappointed.

Room: We had booked a larger 'en suite' room as a family of 3 (with a 4 year old son) on the recommendation of the Sources de Cheverny. When we arrived, the room escribed as 'junior suite' was in fact a slightly larger room than the basic room, with the result that from 8pm, when we put our son to bed, we were sat in the dark, unable to switch a light on without disturbing him. Given that we had paid circa €500 per night for a comfortable room, it felt like a complete farce. I address this further below.

Restaurant: we dined at l'Auberge on our first night. The food was distinctintly average and disproportionately expensive when compared to other local and better eateries. We decided we would not try it a second night or go to the other restaurant.

Honesty Bar: the ironically-named honesty bar in the communal area was anything but. On offer was a basic coffee capsule for a guest to insert into the machine themselves, for 5 Euros. We rummaged around for the pieces of the games that were on offer in the game room but could not find a complete set.

Extras: note that everything is charged in addition to the room - breakfast, access to the spa etc...so in addition to the overpriced room, you should expect to have to fork out at every turn.

Service: while most of the staff was perfectly kind and polite, the management was unbelievably rude and unhelpful. After having spent a few hours after 8pm in the darkness of our room (that they had recommended as appropriate for a 3-person family), I went to reception to ask if we could cancel the second night and leave as it obviously did not correspond to our expectations. I was told that this was not possible and that I could either stay and pay the extra 500 euros for the second night or leave and pay the extra 500 euros for the second night without using it. When I explained that we were really unhappy with our room and the experience of the hotel generally and just wanted to leave, I was told that I could upgrade to another room for an additional 100 euros. The night manager eventually called the manager and came back explaining that "il est plus gentil que moi" i.e. he was kinder than she was because they would upgrade our room for no additional charge. The condescension was remarkable. The room we were given for the second night was more appropriate for a family of 3, but by then our stay had been ruined.

Overall: we were left with the distinct feeling that the Source was entirely geared at squeezing every penny out of customers rather than ensuring a pleasant and enjoyable experience. It falls far below the standards of other hotels in that price range and we will never return. I should add that I have been hesitant to post this review as I have never posted a negative review before on any of our trips, but the feeling of being taken for a ride prevailed in this case.

If there was a ‘good option’ I would have chosen this for the score. But it was not Very Good so choose Average.

The hotel ground are beautiful. The long drive and the hotel set back from eyesight, from the road. Lovely.
You feel something special on arriving, as if if you’re in for something different.

Parking is plentiful and electric cars are catered for.

Reception is welcoming also. The large expanse behind the reception desk is somewhere to relax and chill on arrival. A drink however on arriving would have been a nice touch.

The room choices are wide. I choose their cheapest room when booking as the booking service used offers an upgrade to tue next class. There was no upgrade available on arrival but was given this the following two nights.
I would personally not recommend the basic rooms as they are just this. They offer all the basic amenities as one might expect but not many thrills. Sadly too my room was lacking a telephone which I later learned was an error

A nice touch too would have been to have gentle music playing in arrival in the room.

The next category up on upgrading gave more space, outside terrace and a view.

The staff are friendly and helpful. Apologetic too in the error on the lack of telephone in my room to order room service etc,

I didn’t use the spa but sure it’s lovely. It’s housed in the original building.

I did however partake in some walks on the estate. The indoor pool is for guests using the spa o lot but the outdoor pool seemed heated and large - this is available for all.

The food, even the room service was delicious. Well presented and tasty.

The breakfast was hit and miss. Sometimes items were delivered to the room and some says they were forgotten. But equally delicious.

I ate in the main restaurant (as opposed to the fine dining one) for lunch one day and the food again was lovely.

There are bikes you can use to explore locally too but I didn’t indulge.

I would say overall that it’s a lovely hotel in a quiet setting with delicious food and hospitality.

We had the pleasure of spending two nights at this super charming property, using it as the base for our visits to Chambord and Chenonceau, as well as local Cheverny. The property is lovingly set up and very well maintained, with great attention to detail.

The rooms in the Manor house provide a great blend of modern amenities and old world style, with the only draw-back potentially being a lack of wardrobe space for two people with too much luggage ;).

The staff is very friendly and attentive and both restaurants go out of their way to accommodate dietary needs and personal preferences. The food, incidentally, is very very good. We had diner both at L’Auberge and Le Favori — each a great experience in its own right.

Should we come back to the area, we’ll make sure to visit, again.

I would make spa access complimentary to guests as I booked this as it was a spa hotel. People booking will expect to use this for free not pay £110 for a treatment just to use it

Would be nice to be offered Discounts of products for guests

Was told the honesty bar had gin and vodka etc and it did say this on the menu but we didn’t get offered this. Maybe up date the menus?

Music didn’t work in the main room

Told there was yoga but didn’t see this anywhere

Room was basically next to the barn which was an insult to us especially when the hotel is basically empty. The guy showing us round said we could book the Châteaux if given enough time but we wasn’t told this on booking and also wasn’t offered it to us.

Breakfast choice very poor - no hot food, cold boiled eggs, salmon tasted funny,

Overall disappointing. I was looking to request this for a possible wedding venue but will probably change our mind now

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for you comment. To respect the calm of clients undergoing treatment, we limit access to the indoor pool and the hammam. However, the heated outdoor swimming pool, the Nordic bath, the fitness room are accessible to all of our clients. Weekly yoga classes are available on weekends and private session can be booked when ever you want. We are disappointed that the information was not clear enough via the Hotel app and the concierge and will redouble our efforts to make it so. The categories of our rooms are spread over the whole area. The rooms located near our small farm, often appeal for their beautiful light and the spectable that gives the sunrise on this side. We are sad to read your general dissatisfaction. Know that we do our best to listen to the needs of our clients. We are keen to constantly improve our service and hope to prove it to you soon. Blending with nature, the hotel combines harmoniously luxury with a successful high tech refurbishment yet preserving the charm and style of the old. Rooms are well designed, and equipped with 6th generation WiFi and Chromecast. 2 restaurants are available (one is yet to open) and a half board formula is available. Many activities including biking (hotel has its own bikes) hiking (boots can be borrowed from the boots room) outside swimming pool and a small spa with its own swimming pool will make the stay a very peaceful one. Staff is very welcoming. Better to have a car to roam around in this beautiful castles region.
On the negative side: there was no turndown service, the mini bar in the room was very noisy, the dinner is average and the menu of the restaurant wasn't diversified enough for 2 days half board, and last but surely not least access to the spa is reserved for clients having booked a spa treatment or else they charge 39 euros to access the indoor swimming pool and hammam!

We stayed at Les Sources de Cheverny mid June for three nights and we were impressed from the moment we arrived. The guided tour of the property (which was a lovely touch) helped us to immediately feel at home! The attention to detail is noticeable everywhere from the décor to the beautiful wildflower gardens. This is one of the most serene and relaxing places we have ever stayed and the Caudalie spa treatments were exceptional.
Every member of staff at the hotel made us feel welcome. A special mention to Benoît (in the L’Auberge restaurant) who was attentive and friendly yet so professional.
