The service was impeccable and the staff extremely friendly and helpful.
The location is the best part.
It is in walking distance to the Supermarket and nice restaurants.
We cannot wait to return.
Anyway, to the hotel now.
After booking our tickets the description was that our small apartment/hotell room would have a Seaview from the balcony, which it did not.
Hotel room smells really really bad and it was even raining inside from under the door so we had to put towels to stop the water flow.
The room was dirty and felt abandoned from care, the walls and the curtains had weird stains, the freezer door was broken, so was the trashcan in the bathroom and the shower mount.
The housekeeping came every 3 days which is enough but did not ever change the bedsheets.
Half renovated room, so half was relatively new and the other half that "the didn't feel like they needed to replace or fix".
Now to the facilities.
This gym is the worst gym I have ever seen, even for hotel standards.
A tiny room with what felt like no ventilation, no music, and what seemed as it hadn't been cleaned for a very very long period.
1 machine for abs, 2 bikes, 1 leg extension, 1 pec fly, 1 lat pulldown, 1 bench, I was really really disappointed on the gym.
The pool was pretty much as shown in the pictures, nothing exclusive. But then again, no music and pleasant environment.
The hotel from the outside isn't like the pictures show, it has rusted metal bars and some mold in some places.
We never ate any meal at the hotel so in this matter I cannot comment.
What I know is that we were here for a week total, and from sunrise to sunset we travelled to Bol. Journey approx. 1hr but fully worth it, AMAZING beach and a lot more people movement.
Strongly recommend Bol, and really not Postira.
However, the food was shockingly poor for a hotel of this quality. Gordon Ramsey would weep! We don't just mean repetitive menus, virtually everything we ate was horribly over-cooked and over salted, the main ingredients were of poor quality and when there was something interesting on the menu such as sea bass the portions were tiny - UK restaurants would be prosecuted under conservation laws for serving fish that small! The Pastura is not cheap and I'm sure most guests would pay the extra needed for them to employ a good chef and use better ingredients.
Strongly recommend that you book B&B only or stay in their self catering units. If you must eat in the hotel then the quite expensive a la carte menu is a bit better (but not by much)
I don't write this review with any malice. The hotel staff are very pleasant and you would hope that more stylish hotels like this are developed in Croatia. However, customers do the hotel no favours if they let them get away with food this bad.
What a shame the hotel lets itself down in this way. I really hope they get it right some time soon as this would undoubtedly be one of the top spots to stay in Croatia if everything matched the general standard of the hotel.
Staff were friendly and there was a good range of quality items for breakfast.
We enjoyed the sun beds down on the rocks by the sea - there is a small daily charge of 10 kuna each. You can also hire beach towels.
The hotel is perched on the side of the traditional fishing village of Postira with extensive views.
Postira was quiet at this time of year but it does get busy in July and August. There are a dozen or so restaurants and a few bars.
We enjoyed the 40 minute walk to the village of Splitska and stopped for lunch and a drink. We also enjoyed the 1 hour coastal walk in the other direction to the small sandy beach and the beach cafe was open.
This was our first visit to Croatia and will definitely not be the last.
Our bike tour ate breakfasts there and they were great. We rode bikes through the town and up all over Brac. Several dining choices to walk to....very "private home " feeling....
Views of harbor...swimming area ...attentive cleaning and staff.
The hotel itself was of a very good standard, offering friendly service and spacious rooms. Perhaps one of its best assets is its proximity to the water. You’re practically on it! Swimming there is no problem, however be warned that it's instantly quite deep and very rocky in parts. (If you are looking for a sandy surface, the only one we came across throughout our holiday was a 5 minute walk from the hotel.)
Beautiful nonetheless, particularly so in the evening, reflecting the village lights as you sip on one of the many cocktails on offer from the hotel. The Pina Coladas are particularly good! The hotel has a lovely pool, however there is a charge for the sun-beds, as there is for use of the Jacuzzi and Sauna. Bicycle hire is also available from the hotel. Again quite pricey! We felt this was a little steep, considering we were paying for a hotel service!
We were there on a B&B basis, which was probably just as well! We ate there on two occasions neither of which overly tantalised the taste buds! The breakfast was standard but lunch was more promising with a more varied menu and a better service all round. Another benefit of choosing B&B, was the opportunity to discover Stori Gusto, a typical Croatian restaurant in Dol, 2 km south of Postira. Don’t expect Quick service but it is worth the wait. We had the fish platter and white fish accompanied by the home grown wine. Fabulous and at an exceptionally reasonable price. It's well worth a visit and we felt happy to eat there most nights, however the taxi fare is very steep, costing €14 for a 2km trip. One Way! We didn't find Postira itself offered sufficient restaurants. The best was Cafe Lipa and even that was fairly standard. The village is dotted with quite a few bars so there is enough to keep you entertained and visually Postira is beautiful by night.
It's definitely worth hiring some mode of transport, to get you from A - B, as without it your more or less stuck, as the neighbouring towns and villages are not in walking distance. Shop around for Car and Scooter rentals as they vary considerably. We visited a village called Milna, Southwest of the island. A very picturesque village, with a Venetian feel which allows the chance to ogle the many yachts that pull in there. Bol is more typical of a holiday resort offering many souvenir stalls and restaurants. There appeared to be quite a lot of water sports on offer here. And Splitska, which is only a 5 minute drive from Postira is simply gorgeous!
Overall, our experience was a wonderful one. Both the village and the hotel, practically force you to relax and to take things easy. If you want to chill and do nothing in beautiful surroundings then this is the place for you. Alternatively if you want to combine this with some activity you can easily do so, with just a little sense of adventure.
