Been to many hotels before. Coco Grande is amazing for their hospitality and very accommodating staff. The food is very tasty. Even the guards and housekeepers has good manners, also smiles whenever you pass by them. Our room is relaxing with good amenities too. We had a good 3 days 2 nights stay and adventure experience in the City of Gentle (Dumaguete).

After too many noisy, poor hotels in Dumaguete it was a delight to stay at the Coco Grande.
Quiet, welcoming, reasonably priced, excellent breakfasts and a comfortable room..
We has to play hunt the socket to charge out 'phone, the obvious ones next to the wash basin were considered to be far too dangerously located next to water to be used.
A locked safe was soon fixed as was a badly set up TV and a faulty bedside lamp. A bit more care in room preparation needed.
Staff are wonderfully helpful and cheerful.
Choice of menus for breakfast was a first, A good Filipino selection, full American or a filling continental on offer included in the room price. Hot chocolate with breakfast, scrummy.
I will definitely be using this hotel again.

Among the hotels here in Dumaguete I have never felt more welcomed here in Coco Grande Hotel. The staffs are very friendly and accommodating. Everything seemed so easy as they were all very helpful from the moment I booked over the phone and made a reservation on the dot. When we arrived we are greeted by their friendly staffs and helped us to our room. I did not expect to have such an elegant room for a very reasonable rate. We get to have a veranda facing the street. It was huge and beautifully arranged. Just perfect for my family. It also comes with a breakfast for all of us. They offer variety of breakfast but since we are Filipinos, we ordered Filipino breakfast except for my daughter who loves bacon. My son who eats very little was able to finish his food and it only means he loved what he’s eating which made me happy. I wish I have known Coco Grande Hotel before so our family could have stayed much more comfortable. The hotel is just near the downtown area and the boulevard when you can have a nice stroll in the late afternoon together with other locals. I would have been more perfect if they could also serve dinner but according to the front desk their restaurant can only serve breakfast and lunch at the moment. This hotel still deserves 5 stars as it feels like your home away from home. I would definitely recommend this to my friends and relatives whenever they will need a decent and elegant place to stay.

Things that don't work.
Zero internet
Broken toilet
Bathroom faucet

Horrible staff English comprehension, indifferent staff about the many problems I have been faced with. Strong chemical smell, need to wait up to 30 minutes on the street for a trike to pick you up every time you want to leave. Hotel can't and won't call anyone. Water takes 10 minutes to get hot. Wifi won't work so I have to call Manilla, the front desk can't tell me the area code to call their capital city, worst they don't have the intelligence to figure it out. The people are the downside of this poorly run hotel. The bed is short and horrible, the linens are uncomfortable, the towels are old and worn out. Owner needs to invest in training and invest in remodeling his business here. So not worth the money.

The question is is this bad hotel better than all the other bad hotels in the area in its class? I came here with very low expectations and I am amazed how bad this place is.

Response from RicaEncarnacion, Manager at Coco Grande Hotel Dumaguete
Responded Feb 11, 2020
Dear Andrew It is quite unfortunate that you found yourself faced with many problems and we are sorry for that. However, at our hotel, what you called problems were issues that our staff have already addressed during your stay. You were transferred to another room when you complained about the internet and the toilet. Our staff also did their best to help you with transportation, in spite of you somehow not being able to comprehend that Dumaguete City does not have taxi cabs nor Grab taxi where you can just hail one the moment you step out of the hotel and hop in. It is beyond the staff's control if the tricycle driver does not want to bring you to your destination. As for these comments: "The bed is short and horrible, the linens are uncomfortable, the towels are old and worn out.", our staff don't recall you letting them know about these, otherwise they would have worked on finding a solution for you. We pride ourselves in sincerely caring for our guests and meeting their needs to the best of our capacity. It is inaccurate then to say that the staff was indifferent and unwilling to help. It is also in no way a reflection of the quality of our service when someone such as yourself pile on the insults and attack the intelligence and English skills of hardworking people. Both our staff and management carefully read through your review, and we're working on improving our facilities. Thank you for your feedback, and we sincerely hope that your future travels be problem-free.

We are return visitors to Coco Grande and this visit certainly did not disappoint us. We always arrange transfers on arrival to Dumaguete with Coco Grande and we stay at this hotel on our travels to Siquijor in the Philippines. The hotel is always on time when we are collected from the airport and arrange our transfers very seamlessly getting us to the hotel, or the port, or the airport, as required.

The owner of the hotel had arranged our room on this particular visit and we were pleasantly delighted and surprised to receive the Presidential suite as our room. This is an extremely large and comfortable living room with a lounge and bar fridge with supplies and a very spacious bathroom containing a jet spa bath, vanity, shower and a separate toiilet. The mattress was so comfortable and we had the best sleep on it, in preparation for our return trip home.

Breakfast is included in the price of the room and you can choose from a variety of breakfasts, all are yummy and large serves, giving you a good start to the day.

Best of all, are the fabulous staff that we have returned back to, year after year. They are extremely friendly, knowledgeable and easy to communicate with, making for a most pleasant stay at Coco Grande hotel. Staff, which have remained the same over the years is a good reflection on the owner and the hotel.

The hotel is situated close to the port and the airport and is always a good place to stay. Really recommend Coco Grande hotel during your visit to Dumaguete. It is a very clean and tidy hotel with staff always available to assist you and make your stay a very pleasant one. You will not be disappointed with a stay at this hotel.

Coco Grande Hotel is a very comfy and accommodating hotel we have ever tried. During our stay we had so much fun and felt very relaxed as well. The room service is also great. Amenities and staff are also very hospitable. But most of all, the preparation and service of the food we order was really appealing to the eye and also did make our belly happy. Would recommend to my other friends to try visiting Coco Grande Hotel.

High Five to the management of Coco Grande Hotel.

Most hotels in the Philippines seem to cut corners in every way imaginable. If you're tired of tiny rooms, bad water pressure and poor food, Coco Grande is an oasis. I must admit I booked there because of the reports of good food and I was not disappointed. A simple, hot, delicious, freshly cooked breakfast with good drinks puts this hotel well above the average.

Accommodation:
First of all this review wouldn't be 5 stars if it wasn't for the very courteous and very caring front desk crew managed by Ms. Ann. Criscel, Rea, Nensley made me felt that i had a home outside my home, might as well also thank Sir Eduard of night shift for accommodating my needs and helping me out in plotting things to do in Dumaguete. Coco Grande Hotel wouldn't also feel like home if you feel your not safe, that why would like to also thank Eugene for being the best security detail the establishment has to offer.

Food:
I can't stress it enough that their food is DELICIOUS! you can feel that in every bite, they incorporate it with love. Would like to thank Exel, Cherryl, and Loyd for the wonderful and classy service they have done, would like to give a special mention to the wonderful and talented Chef Sir Edgar, cause with each and every dish, didn't fail to satisfy my very discriminating taste buds.

Housekeeping:
Would like to also thank Ms. Cherry for the cleanliness and sanitation of the room i have availed during my long stay.

Overall staff:
Would like to give a special mention to Mam Glenda, Ms. Kristine, Sir Keith, and Sir Allan as during my stay have been pivotal with my experience in Coco Grande.

Looking forward in visiting Dumaguete again, and wouldn't look for any other accommodation anywhere else.

Daghang Salamat.

The room was very spacious. There's only 3 of us in the room but the whole room could fit a 10 person family. The staffs were very accommodating and they were all smiling. The hot/cold shower and the power room were phenomenal. I would highly recommend to all tourist who are planning to visit Dumaguete to put Coco Grande Hotel on their list.
