We were a group of ten, couples/cousins/friends, spending nearly 3 days at African Sun Sand Sea resort. It is a nice resort with a lovely swim able beach. The reef breaks the waves further out so it’s almost like a lagoon. We were advised to wear water shoes to prevent stepping on sea urchins, but unless you go quite far out, there is no need for that. The highlight of our stay there was Chef Alam! He cooked delicious food at every meal (Indian and other cuisines) and looked after us so well, we were sad to leave. I would go back again just to eat his food!!

The 6 night stay at the African was part of a 14 day trip all around Tanzania, and one of five accommodations we stayed at, and I can say by far the best one - cause of the location, the food and the kindest people who work there. It is located on a stretch of the beach in the peaceful village Bwejuu. For relaxing and soaking up some of the fresh Zanzibar sun and breeze you can either take the beach or the pool, which are right next to each other. The poolside is nice and clean (great maintenance by the pool guys Isa & Muweba). You can also ask for a beach towel (free of charge). Next to all of that is the beach bar, where you can order freshly squeezed juices, cocktails, beer & spirits and listen to all african greatest hits (ask the waiter Zambron to hook you up)! For amenities you can play beach volleyball on a perfect white sandy beach, or you can play some billiards (which needs a bit of updating) in the lounge area of the resort. There is also a TV lounge. There you can also arrange a variety of tours on the island with the hotel tour management (two nice ladies work there). We stayed in a room by the poolside, it was very clean, the bed was comfortable and also had a mosquito net. The rooms are cleaned daily if you don't put a "Do not disturb" sign. Restaurant - the food there is AMAZING! From seafood, fish, octopus, traditional african meals, continental food, all kinds of sauces, gravies, salads and deserts made with a variety of african, arabic and indian spices. We had a buffet for breakfast & dinner, and we ordered ala carte for lunch. For buffets they always recharge the meals which are eaten so there are no worries it won't be enough for everybody. Special mention to the restaurant manager Odello which runs it which such kindness and grace, always worrying about the guests needs. But the man of the hour is definitely chef Alam. The chef often comes tothe restaurant to see which meals are needed to be refilled and checks with guests is everything okay. The thing is that my wife has a gluten and lactose intolerance and for every single meal chef Alam with great care showed us what she can eat and always made her something extra just for her so she and I can have a stress-free vacation. Special mention also for the hotel management mr. Fabio (Mr. Fabulous) and mr. Said which were always there if needed to answer some of your questions, and more. All of the staff and people working there were so kind, helpful and always greeted us with smiles and love and would like to say - Asante sana rafiki! Hakuna Matata

Quiet but beautiful resort by the ocean. Polite and helpful staff. Chef Alam was outstanding. He went beyond the call of duty to cater to our dietery needs. Food was amazing. He is the principal asset. Showers are not efficient but who needs them when the ocean and three immaculate pools are on the door step.

We were a group of 10 senior citizen couples and friends.we came by ferry from daressalaam after enjoying a 5day trip of the natural parks in tanzania and were looking to just unwind and laze it out and we reached the perfect place in African sun and sand resort just on a tranquil beach the sea was calm with just ripples and shallow for about 500 meters,as there was a reef and only waves overflowing that would come into the bay,wow did we enjoy the sea it was perfect, even my wife who doesn't swim made the courage to come in and just float without a worry, our seniormost was 85yrs old lady who enjoyed the sea with gay abandon. Their swimming pool was perfect with clear water ,next to the pool was a bar hut which served liquor chilled, and fresh fruit juices too,the rooms were well equipped with ac and balconies, thankfully no tv to spoil the mood. We had an indian chef AZAM who cooked lovely dishes, and snacks as per our requests.he rates a 5 star for his efforts, they even allowed us to stay in the rooms till 1pm as our ferry was only at 4pm. All in all had a relaxing enjoyable lazy seabathing 2 days. Dr.srinath herur and group of ten.
