we spent two weeks at this very charming hotel, located by the beach. The staff are very warm and welcoming. it includes several swimming pools. the cuisine is healthy and varied. The chef takes care of his guests. we felt at home.

Stayed in Sun Sand during new year's holidays. Really loved the place. Welcoming and lovely staff. Very nice beach facilities. Direct access to the beach. Wi-Fi is quite good, especially near reception and restaurant. Personal gratitude to chef Alam. He’s cooking delicious, always providing different international dishes. Also make sure to order a birthday cake if you have bd, my cake was fantastic! Hotel is located in around 1.5 hours by car from Stonetown and Nungwi beach, really close to the Jozani forest park. So, you’ll definitely like traveling to other parts of Zanzibar from here. The only drawback I found at Sun Sand is hot water supply in the rooms. Sometimes hot water may run out in the middle of your shower 😅 So, you'll get sun, sand, sea and even more here. Highly recommend.…
We were a group of ten, couples/cousins/friends, spending nearly 3 days at African Sun Sand Sea resort. It is a nice resort with a lovely swim able beach. The reef breaks the waves further out so it’s almost like a lagoon. We were advised to wear water shoes to prevent stepping on sea urchins, but unless you go quite far out, there is no need for that. The highlight of our stay there was Chef Alam! He cooked delicious food at every meal (Indian and other cuisines) and looked after us so well, we were sad to leave. I would go back again just to eat his food!!
Ahh where do one start! Its always a pleasure visiting this resort, 3rd visit and never ever was I disappointed. The staff is super friendly and will go out of their way to make your stay memorable. The food is top class, service with a smile. I'm definitely going back next year 4th visit😁😁highly recommend African Sun Sea Resort. They are simply the best resort and have the most amazing staff! Quiet but beautiful resort by the ocean. Polite and helpful staff. Chef Alam was outstanding. He went beyond the call of duty to cater to our dietery needs. Food was amazing. He is the principal asset. Showers are not efficient but who needs them when the ocean and three immaculate pools are on the door step.
We were a group of 10 senior citizen couples and friends.we came by ferry from daressalaam after enjoying a 5day trip of the natural parks in tanzania and were looking to just unwind and laze it out and we reached the perfect place in African sun and sand resort just on a tranquil beach the sea was calm with just ripples and shallow for about 500 meters,as there was a reef and only waves overflowing that would come into the bay,wow did we enjoy the sea it was perfect, even my wife who doesn't swim made the courage to come in and just float without a worry, our seniormost was 85yrs old lady who enjoyed the sea with gay abandon. Their swimming pool was perfect with clear water ,next to the pool was a bar hut which served liquor chilled, and fresh fruit juices too,the rooms were well equipped with ac and balconies, thankfully no tv to spoil the mood. We had an indian chef AZAM who cooked lovely dishes, and snacks as per our requests.he rates a 5 star for his efforts, they even allowed us to stay in the rooms till 1pm as our ferry was only at 4pm. All in all had a relaxing enjoyable lazy seabathing 2 days. Dr.srinath herur and group of ten.…
If you have not been in Africa , if you like to try something different, something unplanned, and if you like to swim in January, Zanzibar and African Sun Sand is one of the best choice. Also, I need to mention Mustafa ( +255777476977) , who brought us fresh tropical fruits. He organized us the great Zanzibar tour as well. The hotel has very client-friendly staff. They are always trying to fix the problems asap. I recommend.
We wanted to go somewhere where we could have a quiet and a relaxing time. Well this is it. The resort has 30 rooms with 3 relaxing pools, a good size restaurant and the beach is just a few steps away. The room are adequate with air conditioning, equipped with a small fridge and kettle plus a supply of bottled water on daily basis. We stayed on an all inclusive basis and it was the best choice we made. We had the Ocean view room nearest to the beach front and it was fantastic. All the staff at the resort have been excellent to us. We could not have asked for more, they were the most friendliest people we have come across. They would go out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Our special thanks goes to the Chef Alam who presented a variety of lovely, tasty dishes both vegetarian and non veg. As it was Valentines day, the staff presented the dinner by the 3 swimming pools and they created a romantic atmosphere to suit the occasion. This was followed by live entertainment. Previously we have found all inclusive booking have a repetitive menus, not so here they came up with a very inventive and delicious menu both for lunch and dinner. Nothing was too much trouble and our special thanks goes out to the restaurant staff Jane, Muzna, Zabrone and Ahmed who always welcomed and served us with a smile. Our gratitude to Justus (manager) for ensuring that a wheel chair was provided as we requested making sure our stay was trouble free. On another note there are 3 nearby restaurants if you wanted to dry different quisine. Places of recommendation The Rock restaurant (a must), evening at the Michamwi sunset beach to see one of the best sunset. Zanzibar is a gem of an island in the Indian Ocean & this resort certainly lived up to our expectation.…
Staff was really friendly. politely, helpfully and approachable all the time . it was so nice to talk with them. Special Thank to the 2 bartenders -Modi- and Joseph to create my funny phantesy-cocktails- like Modis Nightdream or Zanzibars Soul;) My respect to all the servicestaff for their workload all the day and keeping up their friendliness. - honestly: Garden-Bungalow are much more comfortable, bigger and very quiet comparing with the rooms at the poolarea. I had a plenty of space, it was well equipped and very clean. - last but not least: the lunch and dinner were tasty and there were enough choices. I loved especially the octopusmeal and every dishes with "indian flavoured' style. Thanks to the whole Team for these relaxing lovely 4 days.
