Owner operated hotels can be a bit of a risky proposition sometimes since so much is dependent on the owners--so I sometimes avoid them. However, this is happily a place that the owners make the place so special. Sue is a wonderful host, and Andrew, while a bit gruff, has his own charm. It hotel itself is designed for relaxing.... I actually stayed here in November 2012! It was amazing then and by all accounts from the reviews I have read it hasn't changed. I was recommending here to a colleague of my mine which prompted me to search and then write a review. The restaurant was fantastic from the breakfast to evening meals. It really is like dining in... We stayed for 4 nights after 6 nights on Safari. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and the owners(Andrew and Sue) who were most wonderful, caring hosts. Andrew's cooking is superb so the food was fantastic and we spent some very happy and relaxed time chatting with Sue and Andrew when he could escape his kitchen (two really lovely... More

After writing reviews of accommodation all around the world, I think we have found a new number one. Echo Beach is quite unique; we found the whole experience absolutely wonderful. What makes it so special? 1. The owners, Sue and Andrew, are a major reason. They are so attentive with all the guests, constantly engaging with them, checking everything is... More

We just returned from incredible Tanzania, capped off with three blissful days at Echo Beach. Our only regret is that we had to leave. Andrew and Sue are the most wonderful hosts, as are the rest of the lovely staff. Echo Beach is the perfect escape to relax, enjoy Zanzibar's gorgeous white sand beaches, and pamper yourself with gourmet meals.... More

We stayed at Echo Beach on our honeymoon after four days safari. After the early mornings and long days on safari Echo Beach was a fantastic place to chill out and relax in a very peaceful setting. There were times when it was just the two of us on the beach or by the pool so it really was very... More

We arrived exhausted after a 5-day safari. This hotel was everything we could wish for, peaceful, laid back but excellent service. We arrived late afternoon and were greeted by Sue who immediately made us feel at home and part of the family, welcome drinks were our choice from the bar rather than the fruity squash you usually get. Andrew does... More

On arriving at Echo Beach we had just had a week on safari and did not think our holiday could get any better. From the moment we walked into the beach-side haven we all had massive grins on our faces - it was perfect. Fatimah could not have been more welcoming, nor could the rest of the team throughout our... More

I had a period of 4 nights here after a safari trip, so this was very welcome after a hectic few days. I loved that echo beach was not a large hotel and the rooms were split into villas or apartments as I felt it made it more peaceful and personal. The hotel was not crowded as there was not... More
