Zanzibar's most romantic hotel. Breezes offers a Half Board meal plan that includes your breakfast plus dinner. It features the Frangipani Spa, highest attention to detail, and personalized service second to none. This family owned and managed resort has set high standards for Zanzibar, and continues to lead the others in the right direction. -Kindly note: Gentlemen require long trousers for dinner (dinner only)

Breezes Beach Club & Spa is celebrated for its spacious and comfortable rooms boasting beautiful ocean views, although a few guests find the decor a bit outdated. The hotel's tranquil atmosphere and stylish decor contribute to a relaxing stay, with many travelers highlighting the friendly and attentive staff that enhance their experience.
Cleanliness is a standout feature, with the well-kept grounds complementing the hotel's idyllic location on picturesque beaches. While the diverse amenities, including dining options and a spa, are popular, some guests feel certain amenities are overpriced.

We have Been to this Resort 21 years ago,& Decided to Re-Visit after Our Safari in The Ngorongoro Crater & Serengeti...Oh !! my what a vast Difference in the Resort...The Flora & Fauna was amazing ...Very Luxurious ...it is almost like a Jungle ,but very well Maintained ...We Requested a Similar Room that we had on the last Trip & we were Not Disappointed ...the Rooms have all been Renovated & re-decorated for the Better..We had an Ocean View Front room...We also got a FREE 30 Min massage with our package ,& it was so Good That we booked a 60 Min. massage the next day ...it was an Amazing Massage....The Beach has Daily Tides, & when the Tide goes out ,you can walk for Kilometers out ,an Ideal walk for Collecting Shells...However the Beach Does look a Bit "Grotty" in this Stage ...But It has a Beautiful White Sand beach that stretches for Miles...Our Trip was made more Enjoyable ..Thanks to Pema ,the Operations Manager ,she was very Attentive to Our needs, She was very Welcoming & Friendly & met with us almost everyday...Thanks Pema....The ONLY downside to the Holiday was the Food... ... The Theme Dinners were a Bit Disappointing...Especially The A-La-Carte..The Breakfasts were AMAZING ...Especially the Daily Selection of Assorted Tropical Fruits...and Finally Thanks to Pema ..This stay was Made more memorable....She Definitely went above the Call of Duty on This One...

WE had an absolutely fantastic stay at Breezes with our family, 2 of whom are teenagers. The hotel has a high level of service. The staff and Management are friendly and accommodating and always greet you with a big smile and a "Jambo".
The decor in the hotel rooms is tasteful and creates a cozy feeling. We really like it when housekeeping prepares the room for the evening and lowers the mosquito nets.
The food is excellent. For breakfast you have a lot to choose from, the fruit tastes delicious and you can get your own omelette, scrambled eggs and even "Swedish" thin pancakes. Breakers is nicely located right on the beach and the sea breeze is perfect for lunch. You will always find something you like on the menu.
The dinners are either a buffet with different themes or a predetermined menu. The table settings and decorations at the dinners are well thought out and everything looks so nice and tasty. They have local bands playing and entertaining in a way that is not intrusive at all but rather a very nice feature. The atmosphere is really lovely.
We also appreciated the cocktail party before dinner. A good opportunity to talk to the Management Team. They also know several languages.
The beach is soft, warm and white. The sea is warm. The pool is spacious and the water fresh.
We made several excursions. Reefwalk – a walk out to the reef at low tide which is free and our guide was very knowledgeable and fun to be with as we found various exciting animals along the way. We swam with wild dolphins and went to a place where they cared for sea turtles that we could swim with and feed. We also did a snorkeling trip to the reef. All excursions were well arranged.
The area in and around the hotel feels safe and secure. We could take walks on the beach without any worries and enjoy the sun, the beach, the sea and the heat.
We can really recommend this wonderful hotel. It is a paradise. Several airlines now fly to Zanzibar so it is fairly easy to get there.
We will definitely come back here again soon.

We stayed in the "Breezes" in the middle category for 6 nights in mid-March 2024 and cannot confirm the partially negative points from the previous review from February 2024 (which may also be due to the fact that the facility was only half full when we were there): The dinner in particular was varied and consistently of high quality, the hot dishes were mostly freshly prepared at the buffet and were always well warmed (we had 2 x a "gala dinner" with service and a small selection for the main course and 4 x buffet with different focuses). For breakfast there is the option of having various egg dishes freshly prepared, the "omelette with everything" was excellent and much better than in some German 5-star hotels! As was the crunchy muesli with fresh tropical fruits - delicious! The cheese selection was indeed a bit limited, but we are in Africa and not France. At the end of the dinner there was always an appealing and varied entertainment program. The condition of the entire facility and the accommodations/rooms as well as the friendliness of the staff and even the management ("Mr-G") leaves nothing to be desired. Our room was always cleaned to perfection after breakfast with fresh bed and bath linen, reliable turndown service after dinner. It couldn't be better!
The only thing that is unsatisfactory is the immediate beach situation with the reef far offshore, depending on the phase of the moon (or tide): We had low tide most of the day, which was more conducive to mudflat walking than surf diving. Proper swimming in the sea was only possible during our tide phase at off-peak times in the early morning or late afternoon. Otherwise, there are more than enough comfortable beach chairs, the service is discreet (you are not asked all the time if you would like another drink), the drink prices for water or sparkling water are moderate (even "just" water was always served in an ice cooler). We didn't use the lunch menu, but it seemed to be rather expensive during the day.
Pool area very well maintained (there could be more shaded areas here, the few loungers in the shade were often "reserved" with beach towels - by Germans, of course). The whole complex is well guarded, we always felt safe. We had an airport transfer for the return flight at 1:00 p.m. and, upon friendly request, were given a "check-out extension" until 12:30 p.m. without any problems (half an hour for luggage collection from the room and for check-out). So all in all, wonderful days on Zanzibar in a fantastic resort!

This is our second stay in this hotel which we discovered last year following a safari in Tanzania. How to say. The Breeze Hotel won us over. The welcome was charming, attentive and efficient. The place is perfectly maintained with beautiful spaces and lush vegetation. A spacious swimming pool, very clean and very pleasant. The rooms are perfectly cleaned every day, and benefit from an outdoor space allowing you to continue your spa day with a very enjoyable cocktail on the terrace. The catering alternates between buffet evenings with varied themes and à la carte meals, which allow you to have a stay without redundancies. The dishes are well prepared, with attention paid to guest satisfaction which is remarkable. The staff is also an equally remarkable actor. Kindness, a smile and adaptability that leave a feeling of satisfaction throughout the stay. I would like to take this opportunity to name Dorah who is a person of great professionalism and particularly...appreciable kindness. The white sand beach is also very well maintained. The on-site service is again efficient, both for bringing drinks, cocktails or snacks on site. With a little time, you can see beautiful fish while snorkeling In short, a first stay which was perfect. The second was even better. The welcome by Guillermo lived up to our return, and we were able to enjoy this hotel even more, thanks to a few touches that we particularly liked. In short, the Breeze Hotel&Spa is worth your visit. We will return there.

Arriving around midnight was always going to be a challenge but the staff were so welcoming and speedily got us to our rooms where there was a supper waiting for us, just in case.
Breezes is in many ways reminiscent of other hotels I have stayed at on the Indian Ocean coast. What makes it stand out is the friendliness, and attentiveness of the staff. I would love to go back one day soon.
Food was excellent and, as we were on full board, I should give special mention to the lunch menus that included calamari, prawns, burgers, steak, chicken kebabs, pizzas etc etc., all of which we enjoyed!
All three of our rooms were spacious and within 30 seconds of the beach. The grounds were very well maintained by staff and supported birds such as weavers, sunbirds, parakeets(I think!).
Evening entertainment was pleasant without being intrusive, so you could tune in or out as you wished.
It really is hard to find fault with Breezes - it was in a nice quiet location and provided the ideal environment to relax after our mainland safari.

Breezes is a fantastic hotel and we absolutely loved our first stay and trip to Zanzibar here. We immediately felt relaxed and at home as soon as we arrived. The staff are very welcoming, friendly and extremely attentive. We got to know many of the waiters very well particularly a special mention to Brayson; his cheery nature and enthusiasm is so infectious! We would also like to have a special mention to thank Diana, our room maid who kept both our rooms so beautifully clean. The food is excellent and the precision to detail and effort was exceptional and first class. The location on Bwejuu Beach is pure paradise and the best beach we have ever seen. The swimming pool is ideal for swimming lengths in the early mornings and late afternoons. Juma keeps the pool in excellent condition. The gardens are also so well maintained with plenty of birds including the golden weavers and Lilac breasted rollers. Thank you so much for the incredible service and making her stay at Breezes so wonderful and memorable. Breezes is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at and we very much look forward to returning!
With very best wishes, Peter, Vanessa and Isabella Hughes

The hotel is considered one of the best in Zanzibar, which is entirely justified. The garden and the entire complex look like it was built yesterday. Everything is very well maintained. The staff are like family and extremely friendly. The apartments in the houses are beautifully designed and all have air conditioning that you can hear but doesn't blow on you. So perfect. The pool was nice and big but in the afternoon it felt like 30 degrees and was never really refreshing. The attached beach is also well maintained. Thank God beach boys are not allowed to stay. Unfortunately the beach is nice at high tide but difficult to walk on without shoes, also because of the sea urchins. What nobody told us is that there were jellyfish that were not visible, obviously small ones that irritate the skin like nettles, for example. The irritations went away after a day, but you should tell the guests something like that!!! At low tide they are particularly strong and swimming is then impossible. The food has not yet reached its peak quality, breakfast is OK but not outstanding. Lunch is overpriced and nothing small and normal. Too often in the evening there is a buffet, which is plentiful but usually lukewarm or cold. There is no alternative dish on the a la carte menu! 4 out of 5 evenings there was a buffet!! So it was rather satisfactory! The shop is a joke, opening times 3pm to 4pm, at 4pm you get kicked out!!! 0.0 Business-minded white saleswoman!!! On the last day we were kicked out of the room at 11am even though our taxi to the airport was at 7pm because of a late departure!! Who wants to lie by the pool for 8 hours in over 30 degree heat and then shower and change in the public toilet!!! What was particularly annoying for us was that the cleaning lady only came between 1pm and 3pm!

Breezes is Paradise! We arrived needing a period of total relaxation after a week's safari. The safari was amazing but quite strenuous after early starts and long days hammering over rough tracks in the bush. A week at Breezes was the ideal follow-up. Everything about this lovely place is perfect and of the highest quality. Our spacious room, one of four in an individual villa, furnished with items in local timber including a huge and very comfortable double bed, was only yards from the beautiful beach and even closer to the stunning big freeform pool. The restaurants, bars and public rooms are built in local style, open to the breeze with high thatched roofs. The food (and the local cocktails!) was consistently good with an enormous range of choices. A different entertainment was laid on every night; this was all local too, most of it impressively good especially a troupe of acrobats and some of the local bands, and was never brassy or intrusive. There are tall palm trees everywhere providing welcome pools of shade, as shown in the accompanying photo which is entirely accurate. The managers and staff deserve a special mention. We have stayed in beach-side hotels in many parts of the world, but the staff at Breezes were the most charming, friendly and helpful that we have ever met anywhere. Everyone smiles, and laughter is only seconds away. (This was our experience of almost all the Tanzanians we met. They are a lovely people.) Breezes has a dive centre and a watersports centre on site. All the staff there, expats as well as local, deserve a mention too including our guide at the watersports centre who conducted a snorkelling session in the lagoon lasting well over an hour. I had warned him that I am no longer young and might find the swim challenging (in actual fact I didn't get tired at all) but he conducted our group in a professional and conscientious way, always keeping an eye on me as well as the others as we swam literally surrounded by shoals of beautiful tropical fish. My wife had a very pleasant therapeutic treatment in the spa too. Breezes is a full hours drive from Stonetown and other places of interest on the island. But if you are happy to stay put as we were (apart from a memorable 'sunset cruise' up the coast in an old dhow) it is unbeatable as a most beautiful and tranquil place to relax, enhanced by a laid back atmosphere of tangible happiness.

We stayed 4 nights at Breezes at the end of August with our two teenagers. The welcome was very professional, the setting is magnificent and the decoration of the hotel is out of the standard: everything is charming, well thought out, in a lush garden where you can come across birds and small colorful lizards. The swimming pool is large and perfectly heated, the deckchairs are scattered between the swimming pool and the beach just a stone's throw away, all under gigantic coconut trees! The beach is absolutely splendid with high tides, which allow a beautiful walk to the coral reef. On the other hand, like almost everywhere in Zanzibar, there are lots of sea urchins, so water shoes are essential. The place is very calm and relaxing, and at the same time very close to Paie and Jambiani with more lively beaches for nice outings. The rooms are large and functional, the beds are very pleasant and the room service is excellent. The staff is perfectly discreet and very efficient, the meals were all excellent and the evening musical entertainment was very pleasant. In short, an authentic, family-friendly address full of charm. We recommend it ++++!

We stayed at this hotel as a family for 8 nights in January 2024 following our safari on the mainland. The hotel and facilities are no longer new, but everything is in a well-kept condition. The garden is beautifully landscaped and planted, from our accommodation we had a fantastic view of the sea and palm trees. The rooms are also getting on in years, which is noticeable in the furniture and especially in the bathroom, where some of the paint has flaked off. Nevertheless, everything is clean, the air conditioning works, coffee/tea facilities are available, water is replenished daily free of charge and the bed has a mosquito net. But what makes the hotel so special and sets it apart from other hotels is the management and staff. The management reacted in an absolutely professional and solution-oriented manner when we realized on our arrival that we had been promised 2 adjoining suite rooms on the upper floor of the same bungalow for us and our children, but this was not kept. He immediately sought a personal discussion with us and suggested solutions, one of which we were allowed to choose. In the end, we were given the room configuration we wanted from the fourth night onwards and the entire move was carried out by the hotel. The staff are warm and treat the guests and each other almost like family. You always feel welcome. My daughter and I are vegan, at every breakfast and dinner buffet (in the evening the buffet alternates with table service on a daily basis) the chef came out to show us what we could eat. We always had plenty of delicious choices. In the morning we had everything our hearts desired from lots of fresh fruit, coconut, muesli, beans, salads etc., and in the evening we always had the most delicious dishes. Once they even prepared us a vegan ugali (traditional corn porridge) because I told the head waiter that I would like to try it. On one beach day, a gardener climbed up the palm trees and provided guests with delicious coconuts to drink from. The beach is full of seaweed and stones, so you definitely need bathing shoes. Especially if you want to walk into the water at low tide, as this is when lots of sea urchins appear. The beach is not private and access to the hotel is guarded, so safety is a top priority. However, you are constantly approached on the beach and while walking along the beach and locals want to sell excursions or souvenirs. If you say firmly that you don't need anything and say thank you, this is accepted. But it's still annoying. Another highlight of the hotel is the spa. I enjoyed a wonderful massage with my daughter, preceded by a bath in a stone pool with candles, flowers and a drink. It was so relaxing and restorative. I would definitely recommend the hotel, relaxation is guaranteed here. However, I doubt whether I will travel to Zanzibar again. Overall, I didn't like the island that much as it was dirty outside the hotel and there was comparatively little to see on the snorkeling trip. There are definitely more beautiful destinations in the Indian Ocean, but if you just want to relax and don't want to leave the resort, you can visit this island.

As others stated, it always depends on how many guests there are in the hotel.
More guests-buffet style, less guests-set menu/served at the table. When set menu, you still have options to choose from and it’s several courses.
I liked both options. I never felt that there was not enough food or that the quality changed depending on buffet or set menu. Generous and good quality always.
There are more places to choose from in the Bwejuu area.
