We were the first couple after the quarantine here in July 2020. It's an amazing place where you can feel real Africa life and at the same time enjoy the great beach and the ocean. PROS: 1. Beach and the ocean. It’s a very calm place with few people around, rarely visited by cute local children. There is no stressful sales process going around comparing to other places where sellers can even wake you up to sell you smth. Tide are regular things in Zanzibar, so you just need to follow the special App. 2. Security 24/7. Even though Zanzibar is a friendly and safe place, still good to know that it’s secured. On the beach there is a separate security guard who is always watching your things. We have never had a single issue, being 100% confident that you can leave your money, camera and enjoy the ocean or even walking along the beach. 3. Infrastructure. There are local shops with fruits, food and souvenirs. Talk to a Host -Serge or Olga, they will gladly help where to buy fruits if needed. 4. Villa-hotel is just what you need here with a clean swimming pool, sun beds or relax area with a great view. 5. Food. Food is great, no issues at all. The hotel is located besides a friendly local fishermen village, so you always eat the catch of the day if ordered. Tuna fish, octopus are just great. 6. Anti-mosquito window screens. They are installed in every room which makes your sleeping time safe all the time. 7. Territory is green and lovely. 8. Local village near the hotel – you can feel real Africa, see how people live and see their friendliness. 9. Cleaning lady works “with a heart”. She really does her best and cleaning was made at convenient time for us. 10. Managers of the hotel – they are really helpful and you will feel welcomed! If any help or local advice needed, just ask them. Need a car to rent, just ask them. Local sim-card, just ask them. 11. Wi-Fi. Even though there may be nuances, WiFi in Tanzania may be a real issue. Here it was good enough – I could work remotely and conduct voice and video-calls. I would say, it’s 8/10. 12. No moisture smell in a room, as you can read in reviews about many other hotels in Africa. TO KEEP IN MIND: 1. You need to be aware that the hotel is a few minutes walking distance down the hill with around 30 stairs steps. If you are on a wheelchair or having issues walking, then you can choose an alternate road. However, for all the rest – it won’t be an issue.

An incredible experience at Zan view. We stayed at the honeymoon suite with our two kids. The room was spacious, close to the restaurant, pool and reception. The beach is a short walk from the hotel. The food is delicious but a little expensive. Excellent wifi in the hotel. We were also given water every day which we were grateful for. Patrick was amazing, so helpful. My kid was sick one of the nights and the owner was so kind when she offered her medication. There is a local market outside the hotel which sells delicious fruit. We were very fortunate to meet Burhani, he offered tours at reasonable prices. He stays in the village next to the hotel. He is well connected. He also provides taxi services at good prices. Please contact him on +255 773 519 883 should you want to use his services. I strongly recommend him if you want tours at good prices.

All the staff were amazing and friendly, they went out of their way to make sure we were happy. Patrick the manager was so efficient and works so hard, an absolutely lovely person. He arranged all our transportation and excursions. The ladies that worked in the bar and restaurant, the chef, the massage lady, our driver all were wonderful and worked.so hard. The room was lovely, simple but perfect as I wanted a relaxing holiday and that is what I got. The food here was really amazing with fresh ingredients, good sized portions. Not too expensive, it was well worth the money. We didn't want to eat anywhere else! Breakfast was included and was lovely too with fresh fruit and juice plus another choice of something from the menu. Location is perfect for the beach, you.have to walk through a small village, it takes about 1 minute and the people in the village are so friendly too. Excellent value for moneyThis has been my best holiday ever and I thank Zan View for making it special for me. I cannot wait to return and have already told many people this is the best place to stay.

Our room was booked with Agoda 6 months & paid 1 month before our scheduled stay. After an exhausting 15-hour travel trip, upon arrival at the reception at 19:30, we were informed by the owner (a mr. Sergey) that our room was not available because we had not re-confirmed our booking! He said he had asked Agoda two weeks ago (and two weeks after our full payment) to inform us that we had to re-confirm our booking but they didn't and that was their fault. So, we had no room and we had to search for accommodation in the middle of the night, a place to stay overnight and the following 4 nights as per our schedule. Unless... ... unless we accepted his already-prepared-for-us "kind offer" to stay with his friend's nearby "Breeze Residence" who (how lucky we were, weren't we?) by a "happy coincidence" had free rooms available EXACTLY for the same days we needed (us and our friends who were travelling together with)! He would, also, be so kind enough to negociate the price of the rooms and convince him ask no more than what we had already paid to Agoda! His friend, although his rooms were more expensive, very conveniently agreed. The only thing we would have to do was agree with Zan View showing to Agoda we stayed there, Sergey be paid by Agoda and then give the money to his friend. That simple, hah? What would you do if you found yourselves in our place that moment? We had no choice but accept. Sergey was "too kind and helpful" to offer free breakfast (which we had paid with our booking) because "his breakfast was better than his friend's". The breakfast was just basic and the same every day and the restaurant where we were having dinner every night (since we had no other choice) was not much better either (see my respective review). Fortunately, our stay with "Breeze Residence" was OK, but when we came back home I contacted Agoda (all email correspondence is available to everyone who wants to verify the truth of my sayings) in order to find out what really happened. Agoda's investigation came out with the expected result: There was no communication between Sergey and Agoda regarding a re-confirmation. His excuse to them for not giving us the room was that there was "a pipe problem" which had happened that same day of our arrival and he could not inform us/them in time and he had to re-locate us to another property and pay by himself the extra cost. EXACTLY the same explanation was given for our friends' room, too. What bad luck we had that day, eh? It is obvious that Sergey is CONSTANTLY doing overbooking (Agoda confirmed that) and sells the rooms at higher prices. He does not officially cancel the bookings because he will have to pay penalties for that. He just invents excuses for every complaint is made. It is amazing how many lies Sergey said to us and/or Agoda. So, dear reader, do yourself a favour: don't bother staying here. Find a good place with an honest owner and avoid all the frustration we had to go through. It is YOUR vacation after all and you don't want to spoil it. Do you?

Was here for our short vacay but wasnt so impressed. Guess it's the very reason iv taken long to review. The rooms were pretty nice, i loved the African touch. It was romantic however food was damn expensive yet in very small portions. The staff had a bit of attitude, whenever you asked for something its like u was bothering them. Our first night at the hotel I ordered for black tea spiced and to my shock I got a cup. I expected a tea pot like any other hotel or restaurant does but I got a small cup of tea at about $12 if I remember well. All I remember it wasnt worth it. My partner asked for a beer at almost the same price. I regretted why I asked for the tea instead. Its wasn't a good experience I almost cried. Theres quite a distance from the hotel to the beach though the view from our balcony was so beautiful. U could see the turquoise waters. Very lovely. As we were walking along the beach the next day we found a local restaurant and decided to try out the food. The food was amazing! Thts where we ended up eating the remaining days of our stay even dinner. For such a place we expected very good customer care service which we dint get. I really hope the service changed since it's been year when we were here. Other than that we had an amazing time at the beach. Thts whre we spent most of our time. We would take a walk at the beach after our dinner and it was so peaceful hearing the soft waves in the night.
