We visited diamonds mapenzi beach to celebrate a very special 40th birthday, the staff were more than hospitable. they treated us like family and made our stay unforgettable We will never forget victor, marwa, sayid and chef victor.
The most memorable part of our stay was that the staff were very friendly and warm. Accommodation is more basic than what you would expect given the price. The food was also quite bland but there was an extensive variety. The beach dinner was good! Pool needs some attention as there was paint missing. The snacks on offer in the all inclusive package are also quite limited. The beach is beautiful but swimming is limited at low tide.

Huge place with lot of entertainment and smiling happy people. Food was excellent, dinner at pool, on beach or romantic one next to an ocean was stunning. Also hotel is protected by security guards 24/7 that are super friendly.. it gives you confidence that hotel really cares about your safety. There are a lot of live wild animals at complex you can see during day and night. I stayed at the Mapenzi Beach Hotel for nine days in April 2022 with my husband and two boys aged 16 and 7. We had a great time overall. Room: We had room 115 which consisted of two bedrooms and a bathroom. The room was very spacious and nicely furnished. The beds were comfortable and were equipped with mosquito nets. The latter weren’t in very good shape, however. I mended a number of tears and holes (didn’t have any white thread, so in case anyone should wonder about repair works in different colours that might have been me). The room was equipped with a mini bar which was restocked daily, coffee/tea making facilities, a safe, ceiling fans and slightly noisy A/C. There was a terrace as well with a table and comfy sofa. The bathroom was spacious as well and a nice range of toiletries were provided. WIFI was only supposed to work in the lobby and on the beach, but it sometimes worked in our room as we were close to reception. Grounds/Beach: The grounds are beautifully landscaped with lots of blooming trees and bushes. The pool is nice, though not very big. It was rather crowded most of the time. The beach is very nice with plenty of comfortable sun beds and enough shade. Swimming is only possible at high tide. At low tide, one would have to walk a couple of kilometres to the edge of the cliff. It is interesting to take a walk on the then waterless ocean floor at low tide. My family did and saw many starfish, sea spiders, and other interesting creatures. I highly recommend water shoes, though, as there are rocks and sea urchins. There are many local people on the beach who will be happy to guide tourists for a tip. Staff: The staff were great, everyone was so friendly and helpful! Check-in and check-out were swift and efficient and every request we had was quickly met. Our room was cleaned to an excellent standard daily and pretty flower arrangements left on the beds. There was a turn-down service as well that prepared the beds for the night and exchanged towels again if needed. The servers at the restaurant were great as well, as were the bartenders. Gardeners were constantly working around the gardens and all staff members greeted us with a smile. The entertainment team was friendly enough, too, but a little too pushy at times, for my taste, like when dinner was served at the pool one night and there was a conga line dance around the pool afterwards. The entertainment team practically forced people to join in, literally pulling them up from their chairs. I would really have liked to remain seated as I wasn’t feeling too well that night, but not a chance. My husband and little son had fun dancing as I probably would have had under more favourable circumstances, but I like to be given a choice. I had a massage at the spa, too, which was very good and cost only about half of what I would have paid back home. Food: Breakfast, lunch and dinner were buffet style. The quality and taste of the food were very good. We especially liked the freshly grilled meat and fish for lunch and dinner. There always were a number of very good curries as well and the vegetables were never overcooked. The food became a bit repetitive after a while, though. The cocktails at the beach and pool bars were very good as well. Things to do: We had no time to get bored! There are a number of sports options at the hotel: tennis, table tennis, pool, gym, different water sports. There usually was a game of beach volleyball in the late afternoon and an aqua gym class in the morning, though the latter did not seem very professional. There were African dance lessons as well and a show or other event like karaoke usually took place in the evening. We only watched one show, “African Dance”. It didn’t seem terribly authentic, to be honest. We booked a dhow ride from one of the guys on the beach, which was good, and a snorkeling trip to Mnemba Island from the hotel’s water sports centre, which was also very nice. Several different excursions can be booked at the hotel, but we chose an independent local tour company for tours to Stone Town and the Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park, as that was way less expensive. We greatly enjoyed both tours. We also did a one-day safari in mainland Tanzania’s Nyerere National Park, which was fantastic. I’ll write a separate review. We really enjoyed our stay overall and warmly recommend the Mapenzi Beach Hotel.…
What a warm experience we have been fortunate enough to experience at Diamonds. Despite the weather been somewhat disappointing, the staff were so friendly and accommodating making us feel so welcome. The food is exceptional and my compliments to Chef Victor and Chef Vinoth who were phenomenal. I commend the team at Mapenzi who truly gave us a dose of the wonderful Tanzanian hospitality. Definitely worth visiting but wouldn't reccomend April or May as a month of travel.
Words dont describe best the excellent experience we had at Mapenzi. Our holiday was made very excellent by the great staff in this hotel. The hotel has variety of activities everyday for guests. We felt super VIP and staff always ensuring we are ok. What amazes me is the tranquility of the staff at this resort. You feel really at home. We stayed in beach villa room 157 for three weeks and we could not leave because the view was so fantastic. The general manager Mr.Riaan always asking about our stay.Victor from the reception(mr.fix it) always ready to assist,Marwa the restaurant, chef victor and all reception staff were super. My mum and I were here twenty years ago and due to her recommendation we came back.
The stuff was amazing and friendly . Beautiful place for a holiday in Zanzibar , can’t wait to come back . Loved the rooms were beautiful . Also loved the fact that there was entertainment everyday . The views were amazing
We had the most amazing stay at Diamonds Mapenzi in celebration of our wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed and treated like royalty. This resort far exceeded our expectations. The staff are constantly smiling and genuinely so friendly and hospitable. A very very huge and special thank you to Mr Victor Otieno, who attended to our every need and went out of his way to ensure our wedding anniversary getaway was the most special! A remarkable person indeed. The food was delicious, a special thanks to Chef Victor for all the treats, and lovely food at every service. Also a special mention to Vinod, and all of the kitchen staff- there is something delicious for every taste at all meals. A special mention to: Jackline, Rose, James, Said, Moosa, Amina, Yusuf.. honestly too many names to mention! There was always some one ensuring that we were comfortable, happy, and having the best possible holiday There is daily entertainment in the evening with fun for everyone, hosted impeccably by the vibrant staff. Includes acrobatics performances, live music, dancing, pool and beach dinners for all. All inclusive really encompasses the true all inclusive experience- wide range of delicious cocktails and mocktails at 2 bars, one on the beach. The housekeeping and turndown service is flawless. The spa was such a relaxing experience-thank you to Juliette. Having the wonderful GM Riaan interacting with guests was a great touch, was a pleasure to meet him. The resort is magnificent, amazing decor, atmosphere and setting, in true tropical Zanzibar style. All the rooms are spectacular but we were so lucky to be accommodated in the luxurious beach villa, in the best, most private spot. The sea is a stone's throw away, and we felt so secure with security guards constantly patrolling the area. The beach of this resort deserves a review of it's own! A breathtaking, peaceful stretch of white sands and water in every shade of blue and green. We were fortunate to experience different tides, which is a regular occurence, and allows for amazing beach walks, swimming, snorkeling, and amazing walks exploring sea life during the low tide. Thank you for a wonderful holiday Diamonds Mapenzi! We have viewed several resorts in Zanzibar, with such a variety to choose from, BUT we would highly recommend this resort as the number one choice to anyone travelling to Zanzibar. We will definitely be back.. Hakuna Matata! Ps. Check out Tam Tours(Shauri) online for amazing sight-seeing experiences at great prices…
Wow, what a beautiful experience. Diamond Mapenzi is beautiful and the service received from staff is out of this world. Food is very yummy that we even took some lessons from Chef Victor. Victor from front desk was also very helpful with whatever we needed and I give a bow to the entertainment guys. We will definitely be coming back.
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Diamonds Mapenzi resort. Apart from the unspoilt beauty and character of the place, it’s the people who make it so special. The staff are exceptional- cheerful, friendly, willing to go the extra mile. The food was a treat, thanks to the amazing Chef Victor MP and his team, who took great care of us. Be sure to do a cooking class with him:) Themed dinners or shows/activities with a local flair make the stay even more enjoyable. The front desk and guest relations manager Victor O, also went the extra mile in ensuring our comfort and satisfaction with our accommodation, which ended up being a gorgeous beach villa in the perfect spot. Marwa, Rose, Said, Vinod, Ni Luh also deserve a special mention, and the many others who contributed to a wonderful stay. It was a pleasure to meet Riaan the GM. I highly recommend Diamonds Mapenzi for an authentic Zanzibar experience.…
