Despite repeated attempts to contact the hotel, including from my insurance lawyers, they are failing to refund my fully paid booking. The hotel cancelled my booking last July 2020 due to COVID closure. Yet they have a review here for a booking in July 2020. There is something very fishy going on, and my previous Trip Advisor review has been deleted without any notification received. My family are so disappointed to have missed this holiday, but without the refund we are struggling to book another anytime soon. I have tried contacting every email address the hotel lists, and even spoken to them on the phone. But still no result. Very poor service and I would avoid any bookings.
Zanzibar’s Mapenzie beach hotel is beautiful! Never have I seen such a beautiful beach/ocean, absolutely priceless. I have just been once but I can assure you that I’ll be back. From the food to the hotel staff it was just perfect. It catered for everyone all couples, families and friends could sit back and relax in paradise. All the local Masai’s are also just as friendly taking you out to the reef when the tide is low in the early morning for around £2, there is also a huge range of different tours and activities you can do provided by the hotel making it a holiday I will never forget.
We had a relaxing and fun stay at the the Diamonds Mapenzi. The service was outstanding ! There are daily activities that were fun and kept us cool during the day. We felt taken care of during out stay. The staff in the dining room is wonderful. Specifically the chef Victor went out of his way to make sure we had tasty meals to meet out dietary needs . He came out at every meal to check on us and ask us what we needed. He is a great chef with an eye for detail. The rooms were clean and have a porch. The beach is great , and very inviting to relax or swim. There are unlimited soft drinks , beer, etc at the beach and also by the pool. The only recommendation I would make to the management is to put some fans in the dining area during meal times.
At the end of Nov 2019, we were 3 couples that visited Zanzibar for our 25th wedding anniversary and stayed at Diamonds Mapenzi. From when we got there, the staff welcomed us and their service was really very good. Everything around the resort was explained as well as the detail around what was inclusive. The rooms were the best. We reserved the beach villas and it was the best thing ever. Right on the beach, with beautiful ocean view in front of you. The rooms were lovely and spacious. The bathroom had a great double shower and never had any issues with hot water etc. The food at the resort was good, well prepared and a good selection. Not a lot of meat, mostly fish and chicken, but still plenty to choose from. Many days we just had lunch at The beach restaurants and that was just as good, but you do have to book in advance. The poolbar was great, adequate drinks on the menu. And it didnt taste like watered down drinks as I have experienced at some “all-inclusive” offerings. The local traders can become a bit of a irritation but resort sorts them out quickly. We went walking along the beach and into the shallow water for kilometers. Used a local guide and learned so much of the local sea life. The rock restaurant was disappointing, extremely expensive and the food was rather bland. I don’t recommend that at all. If you want to do an outing , do a seafari Blue snorkeling trip. Ot was snorkeling was awesome.lunch on one of the islands where much better than The Rock..eat as much as you like crayfish, prawns, all types fish and veg and fruits. I can definitely recommend Diamonds Mpenzi…
Lovely hotel, good food and nice pool. The animation team who organise activities are particularly great- especially Hassan, Saeed and Masoud. The karaoke and acrobatics were great evening entertainment and the aqua gym was lots of fun. Victor the chef who did our cooking lesson was also very knowledgeable.
