I visited this hotel in December 2011 and absolutely loved it! I was excited to return 10 years later, only to feel somewhat sad here. The Accommodation is luxurious, spacious and picturesque however, the hotel has a sadness about it in the smaller details which requires strong management to oversee and correct. The food was below average and the same throughout the trip, which gets a tad tired. The staff tried really hard to deliver, however good leadership is required to inspire and motivate here. I am cognizant of the effects of Covid on the hospitality industry but I left the hotel disappointed in the overall experience, which was impersonal and average at best. I hope Kasha can recover and get back to the delivering the amazing experience I first had there in 2011z

By far, one of the best couples gateways if not the best! The hotel is very unique in its design, you can feel a personal touch of the owner. They have integrated a lot of local natural materials to make you feel in Africa. The villa is very spacious with a big and private terrace, and also a private pool with a view to the ocean. There is also a secret path to the ocean where you can take a walk and catch a boat to the near by Mnemba Island. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful!! I have never encountered such a welcoming and lovely staff (not just saying). If you are looking for one of a kind experience, this is the place!

The Hotel requested I settled my bill all in cash in the first instance. I declined saying it would cost a lot in transaction fees. They offered me a second option to pay via PayPal. I happily obliged and went through the entire process with the manager confirming every step of the way that everything was correct. I even sent screenshots to them proving payment had left my account. Upon leaving the hotel i was then told that 'Ibrahim' (the person who is receiving the payment) has not got the money so I must pay again. I objected, again showing the money had left my account. Without hesitation a member of staff was thrown into my cab and i was told a man would meet me at the airport to settle the payment. I felt highly stressed by this, concerned that I had no idea who I was meeting at the airport and how many people there would be, or if they would force me to take money out if an ATM. The whole situation was totally unprofessional, no apologies were made. Simply, get money at any cost. I emailed the owners to complain about this and not only did they shrug aside certain complaints I raised. Instead of dealing with me directly they went to Booking.com and complained about me. They added fake charges saying I damaged property and did not pay for taxi's. They are complete scam artists and I will be raising this with Booking.com

Magnificent hotel, with a typical Tanzanian decoration, very welcoming staff, smiling and very attentive to the client. The restaurant is TOP I advice at least once the seafood bbq which is incredible. Swimming pool and heavenly view. A big thank you to youcef at the reception and to the owner of the hotel who is always present. Asanté sana! Kasha

This hotel is lovely if you wantcct that break that is absolutely peaceful. Pros: Nice Rooms very big Fantastic staff Lovely swimming pool Cons: Food - not great.. :-( Price - this place is not cheap! Expect to pay double than other nearby hotels for drinks and food. Distance: it's at the end of a track, no beach ! Just rocks Summary : love a good book and do absolutely nothing for 2 weeks then come here. It's very very peaceful If you want to do more than just sit on sunbed then this is not for you. This is our opinion.. I would have loved to give 5 stars but value versus quality was not there.

We had a fantastic time there. Bungalows are super clean, spacious with their own private pool. The hotel pool is just a beauty with a view on the ocean. the access to the hotel is difficult but they are building a new road which should be ready soon. Breakfast a la carte was excellent and the staff was very kind. Another important highlight was The manager who was so kind and helpful. We will miss him. Food was a bit pricey but it is quality and fine dishes compared to what you can eat outside. No wifi in the room , only in the lobby but it didn’t bother us. I recommend and will def stay again there.

Visiting this hotel was a bullseye hit. It was like a paradise made for relaxation. The manager was amazing and very helpful. He explained us everything for the resort, the near village and the whole island. He helped us with all our questions. The stuff was great. They were so friendly and helpful. My girlfriend has a birthday, the stuff organized a little party at breakfast with birthday cake and song, it was great surprise. The main area or the lobby was very impressive. A high roof, comfort seats and unique floral surraunding. There is great bar and rich library, to contribute for your full relaxation. The resort is made from private villas, with a lot of space, comfort verandas looking at the sea and private splash pools. The villa has everything inside, comfort bed with musquito net, big bathroom with bath tube, small fridge and private safety box. Outside you have comfort seating area, two sunbeds and small private pool. Everything is sorrounded with beautifull plants, there are also some small animals going free. The food at the restaurant was great. The breacfast was rich, the launch and the dinner were great and different every day. The infinity pool was really clean and the pool area was amazing. The beach was quite amazing. Whe is low tide there is beautifull sand bank in front of the hotel. You can lie down, rest and sunbath. At high tide you can swim or go snorkelling. If you are borred at the hotel, you can make a walk on the beach. It is 10 minutes away from the near village, where you can go for fruits, water and snacks. About arranging excursion, my advice is to go to the beach and talk with local people. We made so, and met ALIY. He is great guy, young, clever and very ambitous. He knows every detail for the events, he arranges. We’ve done the Spice tour, The stone town, The Prison island, The Memba Island with him. Everything was well arranged and on time. He also arranged our transfer to our second hotel and after that the transfer to the airport. ALIY is great and knows how to serve you best. You can contact him on WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook. His number is: +255 772 595 194. Contact him and he’ll do his best to help you. We are very pleased with our stay at Kasha Hotel, so we recommend it to everyone that wants great stay and relax.

Leaving this hotel my 10 years old daughter said “this is a hotel version of paradise”! I totally agree with her! The hotel consist of a magnificent lobby, in African style and 11 villas, identical in measure and style, the only difference between them is first or second line from the sea; price changes accordingly. VILLAS (you cannot call them rooms) are magnificent, interior design and furniture are attentively chosen, they are well entertained, cleanest and have a large terrace-garden + private pool. I lived in a first line villa and view was amazing!! In this hotel no one speaks loudly by phone in common areas, here hotel guests are respectful and quiet! Even the lack of INTERNET (except in the lobby) is not a “lack”, it is a gift, something done on purpose. Finally, by the pool the only thing you can do is relax, swim, and read your book! For the first time after many years I did not catch the mobile while lying at the sun to verify if I had urgent messages related to work... nor I could verify my mails before sleeping! Finally my brain stopped hurrying for 6 days! If you really need internet all the time, the management can rent you a router that will grant you internet connection wherever you are on the island. LOCATION: apparently the hotel has no BEACH, you get to the water by stairs carved between the rocks, but a wonderful empty BEACH is 5 meters from these stairs, you can reach it getting a bit in the water during high tide or simply by walk during low tide. Most hotels in Zanzibar have no private beach, beaches are public, seaside hotels have transacts by the pool, not on the beach, so, the lack of beach in this hotel is not a lack for local standards! I suggest you to have your first swims during low TIDE, this way you can see the best path to get in the water: in front of the stairs there are some stones that you can easily avoid if you get in the water 2 meters on the right. As well, take a mask and fins or or plastic shoes to gaze (and avoid) corals and sea oursins. CORALS in front of the hotel are live and of different kinds, but there are not many fishes. TIDES are considerably less relevant than in other parts of the island but still evident. During low tide you can (with appropriate shoes at guests’ disposal at the lobby) walk till the end of the reef, it is a magnificent experience! DINING: we dined twice at the hotel, atmosphere was charming, food delicious, service excellent and very good quality for price. Lunch by the pool was also pleasant and tasty! If you wish to dine out, during low tide you can walk through the beach to some local restaurants, they are simple but nice; to come back you will need a taxi as tide will probably increase (price from 5 to 8 USD). SERVICE: the hotel manager is in my opinion the matching point of this property. He takes care of every guest personally and monitors every detail in the property. Upon our arrival he spent nearly one hour with us explaining anything we might need to know. He was always at disposal during all our stay. On our last day he instructed the staff to feed us with an ealy breakfast (at 05:30), when the waiter approached us simply asking what we wished, we refused but we really enchanted by such a nice thought. All hotel staff is extremely professional, well trained and LOVELY. TAB WATER is a little salted but safe, it is unpleasant to drink, but you can clean your teeth with it. Drinkable water is provided daily for free in the room. DIVING: I booked my dives before arriving at the hotel through a dive center I chose by internet, paid exactly the same price the hotel proposed (dive prices are everywhere the same) and I was NOT happy about my dives (equipment not in order put in danger one of my baddies). You can avoid looking around for the best or cheapest dive center and probably, simply trust the hotel. The STREET to the hotel has no asphalt, there are 2 paths to the hotel, one goes around the village and has just a few hundred meters which are unpleasant, second path is through the village, where there are huge wholes on the road. Ask the driver to take the path around the village, even though I recommend you to cross the village at least once. You will see a realistic spot of local life, kids playing, people working or resting, local school... and you will probably wonder how the 50USD visa fee every tourist pays upon arrival are used, as Matemwe does not show even the lightest shade of that wealth...
