Aluna Lodge is by far one of the most incredible stays I have ever experienced. Caroline and Tom were absolute angels. The most thoughtful and considerate hosts and the staff were absolutely incredible. We booked a day early then stayed an extra day at the end of our trip just to soak up the beauty that they have created. It’s a quiet, private little paradise just 50 feet from the ocean.
I can hardly find words to describe how lucky, happy and grateful I am to the whole Aluna Beach Lodge team, to Caroline and Tom, to Ali and all the guys! When I was choosing a hotel to stay in Zanzibar until my sister would arrive, I’ve seen someone’s description of this place as home. When you are traveling somewhere by yourself, you want to feel safe and protected. It appeared that I received much more than that. From the moment of booking I felt that my vacation is being very well taken care of: all the questions were answered (like how is the weather, should I take any special medicine, transfers arranged and Aluna and its family waiting! I was amazed by the coziness of the place, its atmosphere created by Caroline and Tom! Guys, you’re the best!!!! Love and peace were in the air through the whole stay! Each week we had fantastic BBQ parties, at which all the guests gathered at one table and celebrated a day! It felt so much like a big multinational family came together and was having such a great time talking, eating, laughing! And it was so great to have all those small talks in the morning and in the evening with other guests. It was all so natural, sometimes funny, sometimes very very funny ;) Spacious, very clean, conditioned new rooms, well maintained and beautiful gardens, two swimming pools with summer showers, very loving, helpful and well organized team!!! It seemed that sometimes they were reading my mind: arranging everything in a gentle and unobtrusive, very nice approach. The place itself is 10 minute walk from the popular beach of Nungwi, which is, of course, amazing. But what amazed me more that after visiting it twice (cause my sister stayed there) I’ve decided that my choice with so natural and free from crowd beach is so much better! Moreover, the colors and nature of the beach near Aluna and the lighthouse, the atmosphere and feeling of safety made this place so dear to my heart! As a huge plus there are two aquariums with turtles just next to Aluna (literally 30 seconds walk), where one could swim with turtles and feed them. Another plus, that this part of the beach is very quite!!! Initially I planned to stay only 7 days until my sister’s arrival, but then continued my stay for 4 more days until my flight back home and never regretted that! If you are choosing a place to stay for a relaxing, joyful, top quality, personal touch of care and client-oriented approach, then Aluna is definitely for you! Ahsante Sana Aluna Family!…
What a beautiful stay! Extremely friendly staff from beginning to the end from the waiters to the owners! The hotel is nicely located, it is very clean and welcoming! The beach is within walking distance, you can go to the “city center” through the beach or with the tuk tuk. There are 2 pools, privacy is kept with all the vegetation around. Breakfast is very good too! I would highly recommend it!
I can say how beautiful the grounds are or how clean and spacious the rooms are. I can say pools are Beautiful and the lights at night look magical and the staff very helpful and friendly. The music they play is so conducive for relaxing completely but for me Carolyn and Tom the owners complete the beauty because they are wonderful down to earth people who are just genuinely good happy people. Tom lol i take it all back lol if i dont get the link for your sensational music,! Just kidding of course. Thank you for your hospitality.
Really loved my stay in Aluna. I travelled alone and the place made me feel like home. People were really friendly and helpful. The owner Caroline was lovely and gave me great advices regarding my trip. There were two big swimming pools and the hotel was just few minutes walk from the beach. Location was lovely as you could walk all the way to Kendwa. However the hotel offered TukTuk services to Nungwi and Kendwa for great price as well. The hotel had many options for organized trips. Breakfast was great and fresh. They offered as well eggs cooked in many ways. Restaurant was great for lunch and dinner and I mainly ate only there during my stay as the food was the best I had in Zanzibar. I would highly recommend to stay in Aluna! I had such a nice time staying with them!
