A subtly beautiful and quaint little resort where the staff and management will do their very bet to make sure your needs are met. Accommodation is lovely and well maintained with such a relaxed atmosphere you are almost tempted to stay put!

I would recommend having a good walk about and meeting some locals and also getting a cab to the Nungwi beach side and experiencing the local but cosmopolitan touristy part of the north.

Make sure you get to visit Stone Town and the Spice Farm too.

BUT... Most of all soak up the relaxation and welcoming ambiance of Tanzanite Beach Resort.

Thank you so much to the staff and management for such a perfect stay 🙏🏼

The hotel is in a breezy location with quite nice rooms, simply furnished but our room needed some TLC.
The cleaning was good, and the staff were friendly but the food was really rubbish.
The food let this place down.
Very African, many things not available, and the buffet was disappointing. At breakfast you could see what was fresh, usually one item each day whether mandado or croissant or a bread roll. Coffee was instant. The chef on the BBQ was burning and frying out the meat and seafood which upset me greatly. No wine choices, often only one or two types of beer. No ice one day.
I started to going elsewhere to eat at the hotels nearby.
There is no beach access at high tide, and be warned this is not a place for access for anyone with a disability as hard coral and urchins underfoot.

I was pleasantly surprised by the lodge. I always book a place I can stay while on a business trip which looks comfortable, not only did it meet my expectation but was so happy with the kindness of the staff on arrival. They were very accommodating with my dietary needs and made sure I was looked after at all times. I feel rested even after a work trip. Will definitely be back

I spent two nights with my wife for our honeymoon, in what I thought would be the best hôtel in Nungwi out of the hotels I booked, but unfortunately this turned our to be the worst. The hotel conception ( Rooms, Garden...) are good, the food is good but there were almost no people in the hotel and we felt like we're in some sort of a horror movie with barking dogs at night. No wonder it was empty as it did not even have a beach!! The pictures are so misleading, so be careful people this hotel has rocky sands, when it's low time the water will be a long walk away on rocks and when it's high time the water is just undeneath the resort and you cant swim. You have to take a taxi to go to a beach.
The food was good but the service is so mediocre, its the slowest ever. For hotel that was only hosting a maximum of 10 people when I was there you had to wait over 40min to get your food. The breakfast is not a buffet and you also have to wait and ask again and again for all the stuff you ordered.
Finally this establishment makes you pay an extra 3.5 dollars tax a part from the city tax which 2$ a night.

This hotell is overpriced. The real level is max 3 stars. And the restaurant offer average quality food and service is not good. If you expect great experience don't go there. The rooms are amortized and very often are no electricity.

Unfortunately our stay here was not what we expected. The room was clean the first day but after that it was full of insects. The ones that were dead were not even cleaned up by housekeeping. The bed was high, too high for my 1,5 year old. And we had to make sure he didn't fall off the bed. The food in the restaurant was awful. The food that I wanted to order that was on the menu wasn't available and the food we ended up ordering was a disaster. Like chicken that's red. The breakfast was ok due to the fresh pancakes. We actually booked the hotel because there was a playground for kids. To our surprise there was no playground... the swimming pool was a greenish colour when we arrived so we never used the swimming pool. After the first day we never stayed in the hotel, we only slept there and left every day asap to go to leisure in the nearby hotels. We were happy to leave. The only good thing was Joesph at the gate (helped us out) and Eva at the reception who was very nice.

My husband and I spent almost 2 weeks in Zanzibar in January 2022. We have stayed at 4 different areas of the island, in 5 different hotels, Nungwi and Tanzanite Beach Resort being the last one.
While Nungwi is well known of its beach clubs, parties and night life, Tanzanite Beach Resort provides you with a quiet, friendly and beautiful environment for a very reasonable price, a place where you can feel yourself home.
We stayed in one of the resort's 20 or so bungalows (all with balcony, facing the ocean). The resort has a large, lovely garden, nice pool, and a nice restaurant with a great Italian chef. (Thanks for that amazing Penne all' arrabbiata, Marco).
Our room was really spacious and comfortable, with air conditioning.
Yes, the place needs some tiny refurbishments here and there, but nothing major really. It has everything what one needs for a wonderful holiday and it would deserve more than only 3 stars. (Yes, there is no TV in the rooms, but who needs that in Zanzibar anyway?) The wifi is little patchy, but again, this is Africa. :)
The beach is beautiful. When there is low tide, you can walk miles in the sand. Make sure though to wear beach shoes when going into the water as there are lots of sea urchins.
If you feel like eating out, there is a nice local restaurant close by, called the Seafood Kitchen where you can have fresh seafood every day.
The Nungwi Aquarium, where you can swim with sea turtles and feed them, is just a 10-minutes walk.
Uwe is the most amazing, efficient and professional general manager I have ever seen. I couldn't have any request he and his team haven't fulfilled right away or in a short time. They have done more than it was expected: giving us a great rate, allowing early check-in, late check-out, we could choose whichever bungalow we wanted to stay in (Lillian showed us at least 6 of them), they were moving large and heavy mattresses in between rooms to find the best sleeping option for me (I have some lower back issues).
My husband had to leave earlier, leaving me alone for the last 4 days. Even after he's left, I couldn't have felt safer and more looked after by the resort's team.
Thank you Uwe! Thank you Lillian! Thank you guys!

I stayed at Tanzanite early August and had an absolutely wonderful experience. They took care of me from the moment I arrived at the resort it made my experience extremely pleasurable not having to worry where to go (and I was coming from the farther away
City of stone town ) When i arrived I was welcomed with warm smiles, check in process is very smooth and easy . I was then brought to my beautiful room that I stayed, very tidy .Positioned in the heart of station you are a walking distance to all the shops. Cannot recommend this hotel enough I would come back in a heartbeat! It’s very convenient. They organize excursions for you and are very flexible. You get to also experience the low and high tides of the ocean. Very beautiful.

Pictures are old and present totally wrong idea about this so called resort. Restaurant: dirty cutlery, extreem high prices, many thing not available, tasteless and we had to wait 1,5 hours for two wraps and 1 club sandwich.
Swimming pool, old, very small (clever how they manipulated picture), Salt water, dirty, hardly any shade.
Beach: there is no beach, hard to access water, need water shoes.
WiFi: not working properly.
Room: after two hours waiting we could go to our room. It smells like a public toilet. Two beds with dirty sheets and 1 desk which must be 60 years old. Empty minibar. Batchroom, dirty and smells like it has never been cleaned.
Location: need to walk half an hour (one way) to get to decent beach or to decent restaurant or pay taxi usd 10 (one way).
Even though I booked and paid for 3 persons 1 week we left without getting a refund, that’s how horrible this place is. Don’t believe any positive review! Don’t go there!

My very first stay in the beautiful Zanzibar was made extra wonderful by the warm welcome and care of the staff of Tanzanite beach resort. Every single staff member was so helpful and actually cared that we had a best time from the moment we arrived! They honestly advised on the best spots, times to head out, negotiated best prices for us and safely transported us wherever we needed to be. The resort is stunning and kept in great condition at all times. If you were ever worried about food... let me tell you! Your jaw will drop every day for the exquisite dishes that arrive on your plate. 12/10 for every meal we ate! The chef was phenomenal- he made our birthday so special with cakes and dances! You name it! The resort felt like home and this was due to all the amazing staff! We appreciate you and will always remember you - Mr GM, Chef Dennis, Smiley Simon, Kind Fazhil, Funny Nelson, Sweet Aaliyah, Rukaya, Lovely Lilian, Rashid and all jamming waitresses!!!
