We have stayed with my boyfriend in Mama Fatuma for almost a month. I do not recommend staying here. The reason is mainly the approach of the managers who behave highly irresponsibly. Here are the specific cases: 1. Often they promise something they do not keep (e.g. that they buy us a mosquito net that has no holes and is...

I'll try to give an objective review, as we stayed for a longer time and got a nice perspective. Positives: - the guys who run the place are easy-going, they ask "everything OK brother?", are friendly, being helpful when u ask them - the place is on budget, we paid 20 USD / night for a bungalow for 2 people....

Mama Fatuma's was one of the best decisions we made, mainly because of the owner and manager Eddy. The place itself is $10/night, 5 mins from the beach but what really makes your stay is Eddy. He is so genuine and kind (nice change of pace) and wants to show you around if you're keen. He took us to all...

My wife and I stayed here for four nights over the new year 2017. It is cheap and only five minutes from the beach (hence our choice!), and the local staff are really warm and welcoming. However, it feels run down and in need of some serious improvements. It seems like the current owners have bought an old establishment and...

I've stayed at Mama Fatuma for 3 weeks and had a good time. I've stayed in one of their bungalows. The prices are reasonable. And as a single traveller this place was perfect because there's a big restaurant area (although there's not always dinner on the menu as the guys don't cook every day) where everyone meets for breakfast and...

The manager of this place is a good and peaceful guy, but most of the employees are sometimes extremely agressive. We had to leave the place because they they even threatened to kill us after a discussion (about the prices and the services they treated us as racists and became so agressive). Never again!

This place is amazing! A quaint and comfortable bungalow in Nungwi, with an incredibly hospitable host. Eddy made sure my friends and I were well taken care of, both when we were around the bungalow and also throughout the island! He made sure we had lots of restaurant recommendations, and he even popped in to say hi when we were...

This is a great place that turned our 2 night stay into a 6 night stay! It has basic bungalows and a decent breakfast of fruits and egg every morning. Its 5 minutes walk to the closest beach which is great for swimming and has volleyball and football with the locals around sunset. The owners will make you feel completely...

It's hands down the best and cheapest lowbudget guesthouse in Nungwi. Inexplicably overlooked by Lonely Planet while they've recommended other "lowbudget' hostels like Safina bugalows, Nungwi guesthouse and Baraka beach bungalows for $35 per night. Mama Fatuma charges only $10 per night!
