Everything else is great. Very friendly staff. I would give it 10 points :) Food and cocktails are delicious. Very wide beach. Many bars, swimming pools. The only minus - animators - a very weak team... ):

Hotel's Favorite
Having been in the hotel / hospitality industry for the past 40 years, and having just returned from an amazing holiday at the RIU Jambo, all I can say is WOW!!!..This newly opened hotel is a real “gem” and is ably led and managed by Carlos and his support team in Chris and Alberto. No hotel can operate without committed management and staff, and this is one “committed team”!!..All the staff are extremely friendly and it is obvious that they want to provide the best service and product experience possible with endless smiles and a genuine interest to assist. Opening a new hotel of this magnitude is a huge undertaking in itself, but the management and staff have risen to the challenge and should be proud of there achievement to date. The facilities are ample and obviously new. The rooms are modern and clean, and certainly provide adequate space with all the necessary amenities for a product of this standard. Comments have been made regarding food variety and in my opinion are unfounded, as the food quality standard is that expected of any discerning diner. There are a selection of various restaurants, which are situated in the main complex and in a unique building built off the shore line in the sea. The quality of the service/ food offering in all the dining outlets are world class (it is suggested you book these dining options on the hotel app when checking in, so as to avoid not getting a booking - space is limited) I would be amiss if I did not mention a few staff who went “above and beyond” in terms of attentiveness, friendliness and service levels. We can’t thank Rose, Richard, Francina, Sarafina and Celion enough for just making our stay that much more enjoyable. We would like to thank Carlos and his team for there kind hospitality and all the very best. We have no doubt that RIU Jambo will continue to go from strength to strength…Good luck and looking forward to a future visit - Asante’..🙏

Amazing resort! Excellent food and top quality services provided by the staff, which is also very friendly. The location is excellent also, right on Nungwi beach, which is the best beach in Zanzibar. The rooms are spacious and cleaned on a daily basis. The gardens are also beautiful and well maintained, no bugs / insect issues. They also provide great shows at night, creating the perfect vacation vibe.

We have been to Zanzibar 5 times, and this is the first time we were disappointed. Riu Jambo could be any industrial hotel on any beach in the world. There is no reason to travel halfway down the world to go to an insipid resort without any local color. It was a waste of time and money and half the experience was insulting. The Staff • Plus: the staff in the restaurants and bars are sincerely lovely and the near only saving grace of Riu Jambo. • Minuses: their level of English or any other language than Swahili is very limited so it is pretty difficult to communicate. Example: we lacked a pillow and it took 3 calls to reception and 4 visits from the room staff to try to deliver a pillow case when we were lacking the pillow itself. Infrastructure • The complex is expansive and the gardens are nice. The hotel is fairly new so in good shape, but it is getting old very fast. Example: there is no aeration in the rooms and the walls are molded (see photo attached). Every our shoes molded after only one week. Restaurants • Breakfast is okay, but also a joke. They make this massive display but it includes left-overs from the buffet from the night before. Who wants to eat chicken or beef curry and basmati rice at 8 am? • Lunch is a joke. The buffet is stuffed with starch, grains and other vegetables. There is no descent meat to speak of. Riu Jambo bluffs with quantity and not quality. • Dinner is descent. They make an effort here but the same as for lunch applies – lots of starch and grains so despite the expansive buffet, choice is fairly limited. Beach • They don’t clean the beach which is chuck full of cigarettes and paper cups from guests. There is no service on the beach like a simple fresh water dispenser. Activities • There are near none. You are captive and near bored. Thank you for the aqua gym from 12 to 12:30 pm but that doesn’t do it for a 2 week stay. Management • The concierge desk is of no assistance. They explain to you why they can’t help you and tell you what you need to do to help yourself. • The senior management is hiding behind and disingenuous when in need. o Example: we prepaid our airport transfer, the hotel said they had no trace of it and re-sold us a taxi transfer for $60. Yet, our agent who works with Riu Jambo confirmed our transfer to the hotel, Riu Jambo never informed us and when the agent came for the pick-up, Riu Jambo told the agent they had no guest under my name. WhatsApp texts as proof attached. Riu Jambo is a scam. To be avoided at all cost. In sum, guests at Riu Jambo are at the service of Riu Jambo and not the inverse which would be normal.

Although this hotel is at least 1.5 hours drive from the airport, it is in a beautiful location on the beach and the Bahai Bar is the perfect place to watch the sunset with a drink in hand. Well appointed rooms, although would recommend rooms closer to the beach and dining room as opposed to being closer to reception. Thoroughly enjoyed the restaurants although trying to book them on the Riu app was quite a challenge. It was a privilege just being able to sit and relax looking at the turquoise sea; we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Riu Jambo and hope to return in the future. Special thanks to: Rehema, Paul, Anita, Schora, Garung.

After 12 times in Egjpt, Maldives, Cuba, Dominican republic, Adriatic sea, this was our top experience in quality of food and personal attitude. We recommend at least 10 day stay. For snorkler and divers, use local coast organizers(200m right on the beach), the price is almost half then the offer in hotel rooms ( two dives with at least half hour boat trip to coral reaf for 100$ or les - more trips lover the price.

We visited Riu Jambo in February the hotel exceeded our expectations. We absolutely loved it here. The rooms were really nice, the bed was big and comfortable, there was a kettle, tea and coffee in the room and a mini fridge with soft drinks. Our room was alway so spotlessly clean and the arrangements on our bed were a work of art. The restaurant buffet was really nice. We found the food really delicious. I'm a vegetarian and there was so much for me to eat. Even if we didn't go to eat until towards the end of the meal times, the food was alway replenished and looked plentiful and fresh. The beach is beautiful and the sea is very warm. You can go for a walk both ways along the beach and we felt very safe doing so. When the tide is high, you can use the hotel next door, as they had steps to bypass the high water. We always found a sunbed and the beach never felt crowded as there are so many pools at this hotel with lots of areas with sunbeds. There are lots of vendors who sell carvings, pictures etc, We bought zanzibar football tops and sarongs, we made friends with the vendors as they were so friendly even if you didnt want to buy anything they just wanted to have a chat. There is a snack bar on the beach and it served breakfast items after the main buffet closed for breakfast which was nice. At lunch it served pizza, burgers, fruit etc. It was always kept spotless. At the beach bar the workers worked so hard, and we never waited more than a minute for a drink. There was entertainment every evening but we preferred to sit and relax on the pier. We took American dollars but only had 50 dollar bills, the Reception never had any smaller dollars but it wasn't a problem because you can always change the money into Tanzania shillings which they always had which was handy for tips. Riu Jambo is a 4 star hotel but the staff are a credit to the hotel and make it a 5 star experience. The staff work so hard and are always smiling with a Jambo Jambo greeting. I cannot mention all their names but all the staff added to our experience at Riu Jambo. We have never gone back to the same place twice but we've already booked to come back. Thank you Riu Jambo - See you next year

The hotel is really nice but Tui UK service is appalling. Beware of the flight which from UK to Dubai is great but from Dubai they put you on a really uncomfortable Fly Dubai plane which has no entertainment, complimentary bar and inedible food, then you have to wait 6 hours for your room to be ready. When you try to complain Tui are not interested and refuse to reply
