I have stayed here for 7 nights and although the resort is nice and the staff friendly I think guests should be aware of these small things; below is an email I have written to the management. To the manager of the resort, Dear Sir, I booked a 7 night stay at your establishment between 1-8 September 2021. At first I was impressed by the warm reception and friendly staff. But soon I have started to notice signs of pettiness beyond imagination in an establishment pretending to be 4 star even by Zanzibar standards. In my opinion the management of this establishment is very narrow minded and ignores how the customer could feel or be affected by their measures to either cut costs or increase revenue. I will give a few examples: There is no complimentary soap or the usual ‘hotel set’ containing a few needles and cotton in the rooms. There are no ear buds. There are no bathrobes in the bathroom. When we asked why we had no bar fridge in the room we were offered one to rent for 22 USD for 5 days. A kettle is 9 USD for 5 days. An espresso coffee is 2 USD and it’s cold! The staff are not trained to make coffee or to be customer centric! Some (most) are just naturally friendly but they appear to be torn between rules and their natural tendency to help! The cherry on top was this morning when I asked for a black filter coffee and a glass of water at 9.26 am and I was told that I can have water only after 10 o’clock …..really? I think I gave you enough examples to work on. If you think it’s important enough. I,for one, won’t come back to your establishment to be treated like this! Not on an ‘all inclusive’ package anyway! I am copying here my travel agent that booked my trip and I will write this same review on Trip Advisor! Thank you for taking the time to read this feedback email. Regards, Dr Justin Gavanescu Room 310 (checking out today at 12 o’clock local time)

Stayed here for 5 nights for a much needed break. Loved my little hut and even though i was alone, staff were really friendly and made me feel comfortable. The private beach was amazing and i went all inclusive - plenty of variety for me, with themed cuisine nights and lots of fresh fruit and salad. WiFi only available for free in public places but i loved that.... gave me time to read and relax.

Nungwi beach is a wonderful place to be and to stay. The "hakuna mata" of Zanzibar is marvellous! I can highly recommend going to Zanzibar and being in Nungwi. Having said that, please don't go Sandies Baobab Beach if you want to have a Zanzibari Nungwi experience and enjoy "hakuna matata". Literally go anywhere else... The problem with Sandies Baobab Beach is that it kills the Zanzibari experience. It kills "hakuna matata". How does it do that? The guest at Sandies Baobab Beach kill "hakuna matata". I have never had such bad experience with other guests. There is no "hakuna matata" there. And Zanzibar without "hakuna matata" is not Zanzibar; it is just an annoying experience. So bottom line: go to Zanzibar. Enjoy the "hakuna matata" of this wonderful island, but do so at any other place than Sandies Baobab Beach.

Sandies is a great hotel in a great location. The food is consistently good, the included drinks are all better than expected (especially the evening cocktails), and the rooms are well-appointed. The spa was a special treat (and extremely well-priced), but the real star of the resort is the beach location. The covered lounge chairs look out at the Indian Ocean completely unobstructed, and I simply can't imagine a better place to sit, read, and sip a drink all day long. Especially after a very busy safari itinerary, this is the perfect place to relax and recuperate. The only real issue we had is that the rooms only had the European plugs whereas the mainland of Tanzania had Type G and Type D outlets, so we couldn't power our devices. The front desk didn't have any extra adapters, so we had to track one down in a local store. The different adapters aren't referenced anywhere, so I recommend you travel with a universal adapter if at all possible to be on the safe side!
