Built in 1910 in Nyeri town for big game hunters, The White Rhino Hotel has had a rich legacy spanning pre-colonial Kenya when it was a whites’ only facility, through to the 21st century. Later in 2001, the hotel was gazetted as a National Heritage Site. Today, The White Rhino Hotel is the leading 4 Star hotel in Nyeri. The hotel began with 25 rooms, but today, a total of 105 state-of-the-art rooms await guests, offering comfort throughout. There are 3 restaurants with a selection of excellent cuisine as well as 3 bars and a nightclub where guests can unwind after busy day. Conference facilities are available for up to 200 delegates. The hotel also provides ample and secure parking and laundry facilities. The White Rhino Hotel is fully equipped to host magical weddings and impressive corporate events. There is an indoor playroom and and outdoors playground to keep the children entertained while their parents relax and enjoy the garden views and have some time to themselves. An excursion to the Aberdares is a 'must' while staying at The White Rhino Hotel.

Detailed Reviews
For 12,000 a room a night, there should be all amenities such as sauna/steam bath and a gym. Restaurant ambient wanting, not near 3 star that charge such rates. Morning breakfast still like any low end average hotels.
Rooms are good. Service can be far better with recreational facilities mentioned above, and good diversity of food.

The hotel is within town. The rooms are big and very clean. The place is calm. I enjoyed the stay. Breakfast is too good. You can simply enjoy. The staffs are friendly. The restaurant is within the compound where you can enjoy delicious foods. A great experience. I will surely staying next time.

We stopped in Nyeri on Christmas Eve and we were amazed by the service. The lord's rooms were superb, the best hotel rooms I have seen. I am so glad I booked the hotel and didn't pay too much attention to the reviews. Our kids enjoyed the food, the chef went out of his way to tailor the pasta based on what the kids like and they loved it, this was the 2nd hotel stop from Nanyuki and it kept our mood vibrant,..ohh and they had Xmas carols, live singers which were excellent for a family since most places didn't have family-friendly events. Georgina booked our hotel and she was so wonderful and pleasant.I called her at odd hours due to the time difference and she always assured me all will be well. Thank you to the hotel staff, the chef ( very talented), The lady porter ( so amazing), the waiters, and the security guard lady. We will always stay here when in Kenya.
Thank you once again to the staff. The Food was excellent. Georgina you're so hard-working and amazing, i thought you were the hotel owner.

Hotel is conviniently located within the town. At the entrance is a washing point which has soap but no water and paper towels. The rooms are big and well maintained and comfy. The food and restaurant area is a great disappointment. The sanitizer dispenser doesn't work, hand washing point is at a hidden corner with trickling water and no paper towels. The lighting is so bad, it gives the feeling of we do not want you here. The table are set with minimum cutlery and condiments are only on some tables. If you are lucky you can get a table set, otherwise set one for yourself. The food is ok but limited variety. The staff look tired and sad, don't ask too much out of them. It was not the best of experiences

This is one of the best decisions the White Rhino Management did, This guy is the finest in keeping all the guests entertained and attending to any of song requests. I can never miss Friday White Rhino country live music.

This hotel exceeded my expectations. We really enjoyed our stay here. The executive rooms are totally worth it! The bed was sooo comfortable, rooms are large and staff are very friendly and helpful. Wish we were staying longer. Only downside was that the restaurant, which is on the other side of the hotel, didn't have so many items that are written on the menu so you better ask the waiter what is available and pick from what options he gives you. Cleanliness is on another level, housekeeping are truly doing the most!

It is hard to describe how bad this place is. It hasn't had any maintenance down in years - the walls are crumbling on the outside, half the lights in the bedrooms didn't work - the food was inedible and the staff indifferent.
Unforutnatley there aren't many options un this area but ifyou can avoid it then i=do!!

Stayed here on business and the hotel was great with good service. Held a dinner and cocktail event for my customers at one of the halls one evening and everything went smoothly - well handled by the staff. The rooms are also quite amazing, very modern and comfortable. Would recommend this place to others.

Let me just say the bathtub was the best part of the hotel stay. After this period of minimized travels, We'll definitely be back for a proper holiday.
The aquariums at the dinning area, enhance the ambience.
Esther our waiter for both dinner and breakfast was really awesome.

Old fashion, loose door locks, tv not working for the 3 nights, mattress gave me back pains, the dinner buffet is only one plate, fruits from the fridge. Even the staff look hungry and not motivated. The breakfast was good but their african tea tested bad. So if by bad luck you find yourself there. Avoid the african tea

Iam very sorry Betty if such a thing happened. I am saddened how food poisoning can happen in such a big hotel. All in all I normally visit the hotel regularly and have never had such a complain. Again as a tour company, we have sent two groups this year to the hotel and there was no issue. I advise Betty to complain officially to the hotel as this is a serious matter.
